Dear Family of Mary!

Today’s Responsorial Psalm is my favorite Psalm, Psalm 131! It captures perfectly how to relate to Our Lady, and to Jesus. Here it is:

Psalm 131
O LORD, my heart is not proud,
nor are my eyes haughty;
I busy not myself with great things,
nor with things too sublime for me.

Nay rather, I have stilled and quieted
my soul like a weaned child.
Like a weaned child on its mother’s lap,
so is my soul within me.

O Israel, hope in the LORD,
both now and forever.

In this world we begin to realize that very little is in our control, that we are not able to master or change our environment, that we are vulnerable and small. And as we realize this more and more, we find our only peace in our relationship with our God who is all powerful, and with Our Lady who is our mother. To sit on Mary’s lap, in total trust is the way to proceed in such a world as ours. To surrender to God, accepting our littleness and vulnerability, is the way to hope. Humility and trust are our greatest gifts! They will keep us close to the Lord.

Our Lady has given us many messages that communicate this truth, that we are small, in need, and totally dependent on the Lord and that we need our Mother, Mary. Here are three:

December 2, 2008 “Dear children; In this holy time of joyful expectation, God has chosen you little ones to realize His great intentions. My children, be humble. Through your humility, God, with His wisdom, will make of your souls a chosen home. You will illuminate it with good works and thus, with an open heart, you will welcome the birth of my Son in all of His generous love. Thank you dear children.”

October 2, 2010 “Dear children; Today I call you to a humble, my children, humble devotion. Your hearts need to be just. May your crosses be your means in the battle against the sins of the present time. May your weapon be patience and boundless love, a love that knows to wait and which will make you capable of recognizing God’s signs, that your life, by humble love, may show the truth to all those who seek it in the darkness of lies. My children, my apostles, help me to open the paths to my Son. Once again I call you to pray for your shepherds. Alongside them, I will triumph. Thank you.”

July 02, 2014 “Dear children, I, the mother of all of you gathered here and the mother of the entire world, am blessing you with a motherly blessing and call you to set out on the way of humility. That way leads to the coming to know the love of my Son. My Son is almighty. He is in everything. If you, my children, do not become cognizant of this, then darkness/blindness rule in your soul. Only humility can heal you. My children, I always lived humbly, courageously and in hope. I knew, I became cognizant that God is in us and we are in God. I am asking the same of you. I desire for all of you to be with me in eternity, because you are a part of me. I will help you on your way. My love will envelop you like a mantle and make of you apostles of my light – of God’s light. With the love that comes forth from humility you will bring light to where darkness/blindness rule. You will be bringing my Son who is the light of the world. I am always alongside your shepherds and I pray that they may always be an example of humility for you. Thank you.”

The best response I can come up with to these incredible words of wisdom from Our Lady are these:

Psalm 131
O LORD, my heart is not proud,
nor are my eyes haughty;
I busy not myself with great things,
nor with things too sublime for me.

Nay rather, I have stilled and quieted
my soul like a weaned child.
Like a weaned child on its mother’s lap,
so is my soul within me.

O Israel, hope in the LORD,
both now and forever.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
