33 Day Consecration – Day 30

Dear Family of Mary!

33 Day Prayer of Consecration to Our Lady of the Rosary – Day 30

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit!
Receive our Consecration Prayer, O dearest Mother Mary!

“Little children, pray the Rosary and meditate the mysteries of the Rosary because, in your life, you are also passing through joys and sorrows. In this way, you are transforming the mysteries into your life, because life is a mystery until you place it into God’s hands.” (September 25, 2019)

One last thought from Fr. Shamon!

Another time when I was meditating on the second Joyful Mystery, the Visitation, the thought surfaced of the role of women in the redemption. It struck me that the first people who were in on the secrets of God were women: Mary and Elizabeth. Both Joseph and Zechariah were really on the outside looking in. The women led the men. I told that to some priest and commented how can anyone ever say that women in the Church are second-class citizens. This quick-witted priest quipped, “The babes in their wombs were men.”

Well, anyway, I hope you see what I mean. If you just look, almost leisurely, at the scenes of Our Lord’s life, you will reap fruit you never suspected. For our sights, God will give us insights!

The ten Hail Mary’s are like background music while you are watching Our Lord’s life. Background music helps us when reading or working. WE don’t pay much attention to the music, but it helps us. So, in reciting the Hail Marys, you don’t pay much attention to them; they are the background music to help us contemplate the mysteries of Our Lord’s life.
(Fr. Alfred Shamon. “The Power of the Rosary” – p. 16)

Fr. Shamon is so practical and down to earth. He makes me want to pray the Rosary! I don’t feel judged or behind. Yes, we must focus on the mysteries. They are life giving. I need to grow in looking at the mysteries. I hope in our Daily Rosary to begin to look at the mysteries by introducing them better, adding a small scripture to get our attention. But then, I want to just become present to the mysteries, using all my senses and faculties to be there with Jesus and Mary. Then the Holy Spirit will do the rest!

We are close to the end of this consecration. What a blessing it has been for us!!

Supplication to the Queen of the Holy Rosary:

“O Blessed Rosary of Mary, sweet chain which unites us to God, bond of love which unites us to the angels, tower of salvation against the assaults of Hell, safe port in our universal shipwreck, we will never abandon you. You will be our comfort in the hour of death: yours our final kiss as life ebbs away. And the last word from our lips will be your sweet name, O Queen of the Rosary of Pompei, O dearest Mother, O Refuge of Sinners, O Sovereign Consoler of the Afflicted. May you be everywhere blessed, today and always, on earth and in heaven”. (Blessed Bartolo Longo)

We commit ourselves to praying the Rosary for your intentions, dearest Mary, our Mother, as You enter this final battle with Satan, for the sake of souls. We will take up the Rosary as an obligation that we will fulfill with great joy! Together we will pray for Your Triumph over Satan, and for the coming of a New Time of Peace which has been given to us through You, Oh Clement, O Loving, O Sweet Virgin Mary!! Amen

Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit! As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

Now we pray our Rosary for today! Luminous Mysteries!!

33 Day Consecration – Day 29

Dear Family of Mary!

33 Day Prayer of Consecration to Our Lady of the Rosary – Day 29

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit!
Receive our Consecration Prayer, O dearest Mother Mary!

Let’s continue to use Our Lady’s message of September 25, 2019 as our instruction on the power and purpose of the Rosary.

“…Little children, pray the Rosary and meditate the mysteries of the Rosary because, in your life, you are also passing through joys and sorrows. In this way, you are transforming the mysteries into your life, because life is a mystery until you place it into God’s hands…” (September 25, 2019)

Meditate the mysteries of the Rosary!

Here is another example of Fr. Shamon’s amazing method of meditating on the mysteries:

Another time I was thinking about the first Sorrowful Mystery, the Agony in the Garden. I was picturing Jesus leaving the Last Supper room with His eleven and going down the steps that lead to the Kidron Valley and to Gethsemane. Around that time I was also thinking of how I had an appointment to go to the IRS for an audit of some tax returns. Well, whichever way you cut it, that gives one a scary, uncomfortable feeling. Then the thought spontaneously surfaced of how Jesus must have felt in going to Gethsemane: He was going to face death, a horrible death, marked by excruciating pain and ignominy. With the IRS interview hanging over my head, I could empathize in some small way with the inner feelings He must have experienced.

Then another thought arose of its own accord; see what Jesus was doing. He was going to the Garden to pray. That was how He was going to meet the situation-with prayer! Then I thought to myself that is how I ought to confront every trial in my own life – by prayer. This mystery in Our Lord’s life confirmed my resolve to pray always when face to face with a problem.
(Fr. Albert Shamon. “The Power of the Rosary”. P. 15)

Talk about “transforming the mysteries into your life!” This meditation was just what Fr. Shamon needed! I guess we get the point. We need to really experience the mysteries with our entire selves, and let the Holy Spirit direct our thoughts as we pray the decade. We will see so much light and help coming from the Rosary for our everyday lives.

As Our Lady continues in her message:
In this way, you will have the experience of faith like Peter who met Jesus and the Holy Spirit filled his heart.”

Fr. Shamon did receive the Holy Spirit as he met Jesus in that mystery. And it was transformative!

More tomorrow!

Supplication to the Queen of the Holy Rosary:

“O Blessed Rosary of Mary, sweet chain which unites us to God, bond of love which unites us to the angels, tower of salvation against the assaults of Hell, safe port in our universal shipwreck, we will never abandon you. Dear Family of Mary!

October 2, 2019 Message from Our Lady, Queen of Peace

Dear children, the will and the love of the Heavenly Father make it so that I am among you, that I, with a motherly love, may help the growth of faith in your heart, for you to be able to truly comprehend the purpose of earthly life and the greatness of the heavenly one.

My children, the earthly life is the way to eternity, to truth, and to life-to my Son. I desire to lead you on that way. You, my children-you who always thirst for more love, truth, and faith-need to know that there is only one spring from which you can drink. It is trust in the Heavenly Father; it is trust in His love.

Abandon yourselves completely to His will and do not be afraid. Everything that is best for you, everything that leads you to eternal life, will be given to you. You will comprehend that the purpose of life is not always to want and take, but to love and give. You will have true peace and true love. You will be apostles of love.

By your example, you will make it so that my children who do not know my Son and His love may desire to come to know Him. My children, apostles of my love, adore my Son with me and love Him above all. Always strive to live in His truth. Thank you.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

33 Day Consecration – Day 28

Dear Family of Mary!

33 Day Prayer of Consecration to Our Lady of the Rosary – Day 28

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit!
Receive our Consecration Prayer, O dearest Mother Mary!

Let’s continue to use Our Lady’s September 25, 2019 message as our instruction on the power and purpose of the Rosary.

“…Little children, pray the Rosary and meditate the mysteries of the Rosary because, in your life, you are also passing through joys and sorrows. In this way, you are transforming the mysteries into your life, because life is a mystery until you place it into God’s hands…” (September 25, 2019)

“Meditate the mysteries of the Rosary!”

Fr. Shamon encouraged us to just look at the mysteries and not to analyze them intellectually.   Here is one example of his experience of meditating the mysteries in this way:

One day I was saying the Glorious Mysteries. I was thinking of the second one; the Ascension. The thought just surfaced of how (at the Ascension) the apostles were being left all alone- but with Mary! I wondered how those eleven ordinary men could change the world.

Then out of the blue I began thinking of Our Lady’s apparitions to young children at Lourdes, Fatima, and Medjugorje. I thought they were just a few kids and yet they affected so many millions. At Medjugorje I thought of the 15 million who have already been touched. [This is the figure as of 1990, millions more today!]

Then it became quite clear to me of how much greater impact the apostles must have had, for they not only had seen Christ, they had been with Him for years. Then, too, the Mother of God was their companion for over 15 years after His Ascension. Wow! Before I could go on, I was on the Third Mystery.” (Fr. Albert Shamon. “The Power of the Rosary”. P. 13)

Fr. Shamon shows us exactly how to transform the mysteries into our own lives. And actually in doing so, our lives become much less a mystery to us, because we have placed them firmly in God’s hands!!

33 Day Consecration – Day 27

Dear Family of Mary!

33 Day Prayer of Consecration to Our Lady of the Rosary – Day 27

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit!
Receive our Consecration Prayer, O dearest Mother Mary!

We will continue to listen to Our Lady’s September 25, 2019 Message, since she is speaking right to us about our consecration to her Rosary!

Fr. Shamon understands how to meditate the mysteries. He is so down to earth and practical. But he is right. Here is what he says:

One of the greatest objections to the Rosary is precisely because it is a thinking prayer. Some will say, “I don’t like to think.” Or “I can’t concentrate on the mysteries. My mind wanders. That’s why I quit saying the Rosary.”

I think the trouble here is that too often we try to intellectualize the mysteries. We peer into them to extract lessons from them. Rather, we should just look at the mysteries of the Rosary in the Ignatian sense of contemplation. St. Ignatius said to just look at the scenes of Our Lord’s life without trying to pull out all kinds of lessons and applications to your life. Just be there, like watching the TV series “You Were There!” The lessons and applications will come spontaneously.

Haven’t you gone to a movie and had a friend ask how you liked it? As you gave your answer, you were unconsciously analyzing the picture. Without even being aware of it, you were drawing conclusions about the picture just by looking at the movie.

So in the Rosary. Just look at the scenes of Our Lord’s life with Our Lady for the length of 10 Hail Marys. Like a movie, they will begin to say something to you without your having to do anything but look. While you are looking at the scenes, God is working in your heart. (Fr. Albert Shamon. “The Power of the Rosary”. P. 13)

Fr. Shamon makes a good point. Our Lady doesn’t want us to only intellectualize the mysteries. As she just told us in the September 25, 2019 message – we need to meditate on the mysteries so as to transform them into our lives. We do this by drawing comparisons and seeing the connections between the lives of Jesus and Mary, and our lives. We are all people! We can understand each other, and connect on the deepest of levels, our humanity! The Holy Spirit will help us by drawing our attention to the aspects that are important for us!

I think Our Lady wants us to learn something here about how to pray and let the Holy Spirit work in our prayer.

You will be our comfort in the hour of death: yours our final kiss as life ebbs away. 33 Day Consecration – Day 26

Dear Family of Mary!

33 Day Prayer of Consecration to Our Lady of the Rosary – Day 26

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit!
Receive our Consecration Prayer, O dearest Mother Mary!

For our last few days of this Consecration let’s use Our Lady’s messages, especially September 25, 2019) as our instruction on the power and purpose of the Rosary.

“Dear children! Today I am calling you to pray for my intentions so that I may help you…” (September 25, 2019)

Our Lady has asked us to pray for her intentions several times. Here are some of those messages:

September 25, 1991 “Dear children! Today in a special way I invite you all to prayer and renunciation. For now as never before satan wants to show the world his shameful face by which he wants to seduce as many people as possible onto the way of death and sin. Therefore, dear children, help my Immaculate Heart to triumph in the sinful world. I beseech all of you to offer prayers and sacrifices for my intentions so I can present them to God for what is most necessary. Forget your desires, dear children, and pray for what God desires, and not for what you desire. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

October 25, 2008 “Dear children! In a special way I call you all to pray for my intentions so that, through your prayers, you may stop satan’s plan over this world, which is further from God every day, and which puts itself in the place of God and is destroying everything that is beautiful and good in the souls of each of you. Therefore, little children, arm yourselves with prayer and fasting so that you may be conscious of how much God loves you and may carry out God’s will. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

October 25, 2012 “Dear children! Today I call you to pray for my intentions. Renew fasting and prayer because Satan is cunning and attracts many hearts to sin and perdition. I call you, little children, to holiness and to live in grace. Adore my Son so that He may fill you with His peace and love for which you yearn. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

August 25, 2014 “Dear children! Pray for my intentions, because Satan wants to destroy my plan which I have here and to steal your peace. Therefore, little children, pray, pray, pray that God can act through each of you. May your hearts be open to God’s will. I love you and bless you with my motherly blessing. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

November 25, 2015 “Dear children! Today I am calling all of you: pray for my intentions. Peace is in danger, therefore, little children, pray and be carriers of peace and hope in this restless world where Satan is attacking and tempting in every way. Little children, be firm in prayer and courageous in faith. I am with you and intercede before my Son Jesus for all of you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

Our Lady needs our prayer support. Her intentions, though hidden from us, are central to the plan God has given her to crush the head of Satan. (Notice how every time Our Lady mentions her intentions, she mentions Satan as well. Her intentions involve his demise.) She needs our prayer support! And it seems that as we do pray for her intentions, we are in fact praying for ourselves. We are praying for holiness, peace, hope, courage, faith, love, beauty, goodness, freedom from sin, and wholesomeness. We are praying to become God’s holy children so that we can build His Kingdom. Somehow, our holiness is vital to the plan God has given Our Lady. Our holiness defeats the enemy.

The Rosary helps us with this plan in so many ways. Praying the Rosary builds the Kingdom within us, making us part of the solution, not part of the problem.  Let us pray to become part of that plan, that solution, which is the renewal of hearts!

Amen

33 Day Consecration – Day 25

Dear Family of Mary!

33 Day Prayer of Consecration to Our Lady of the Rosary – Day 25

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit!
Receive our Consecration Prayer, O dearest Mother Mary!

Today we continue with Fr. Shaman’s discussion of why the Rosary promotes good thinking:

The Rosary is good thinking. It drives home four great truths of religion. (today reason #4)

4. All 15 Mysteries of the Rosary teach the fourth great truth of religion; namely, sanctity is for all and it is within the reach of all of us. [At the time this book was published St. John Paul II had not introduced the Luminous Mysteries]

All 15 mysteries teach that great sanctity can be achieved by ordinary people doing ordinary things, every day, out of love for God, just as Mary and Joseph did.

In the eyes of the world, Joseph and Mary were just ordinary people. When Jesus awed his fellow townsmen by his eloquence, they asked, “Isn’t this the son of Joseph?” – an ordinary carpenter! (Lk. 4:22) When Jesus claimed to be bread from Heaven, they again protested on the grounds that He came from Ordinary fold. “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph? Do we not know his father and mother/” (Jn 6:42) – just ordinary people! God doesn’t ask us to be anything other than ordinary people – but good people whose one focus is Christ.

The Rosary gets us thinking about such truths – and thinking leads to action. Our Lady knows that you cannot be thinking day in and day out on the mysteries of Our Lord’s life and not be changed, for the thoughts that enfold you are the thoughts the mold you. Our Lady knows that. Hence her ardent requests for our saying the Rosary.

Our Lady does not ask for Revolution (which is only a change of structures); for changing structures changes nothing. Overthrowing the monarchy of France did not better the nation. Overthrowing the Romanov dynasty and the Kerensky government for Communism did not help Russia. Toppling the regime of Batista for Castro did not save Cuba. That Our Lady seeks – and the Church and the Gospel- is Renewal, which is a change of hearts. That is why she asks for the Rosary, for the Rosary renews hearts, changes people; and when people change, society will change.
(Rev. Albert J. M. Shamon. The Power of the Rosary. 1990 p. 11- 12)

Well, we can see that Our Lady is indeed using the Rosary in Medjugorje to do exactly this: to bring about a renewal of hearts, one person at a time, until there is a change in the world. Her message given on September 25, confirms what Fr. Shamon has said about the power of the mysteries of the Rosary:

“Dear children! Today I am calling you to pray for my intentions so that I may help you.

Little children, pray the Rosary and meditate the mysteries of the Rosary because, in your life, you are also passing through joys and sorrows. In this way, you are transforming the mysteries into your life, because life is a mystery until you place it into God’s hands.

In this way, you will have the experience of faith like Peter who met Jesus and the Holy Spirit filled his heart. Little children, you are also called to witness by living the love with which, day by day, God wraps you with my presence.

Therefore, little children, be open and pray with the heart in faith. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (September 25, 2019)

Wow! I can’t believe she said these beautiful things to us about the Rosary, during our 33 Day Consecration to her as Our Lady of the Rosary! Doesn’t it give you goose bumps!!! She is truly with us, praying with us, thinking with us, and teaching us so clearly! Thank you, dearest Mother, for being our Mother!!

Dear Family of Mary!

33 Day Prayer of Consecration to Our Lady of the Rosary – Day 24

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit!
Receive our Consecration Prayer, O dearest Mother Mary!

Today we continue with Fr. Shaman’s discussion of why the Rosary promotes good thinking:

The Rosary is good thinking. It drives home four great truths of religion. (today reason #3)

3. The Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary teach the third great truth of religion; namely, life has a purpose, a goal beyond this life.

For the Christian, life is not cyclic: we are not going around in circles, like pagans. That is why the hallmark of the pagan is ennui, boredom, suicide. Purposeless activity can be maddening. If you had to throw a bowling ball down an alley with no pins, for just one evening, it would bore you to death. Put pins up, put purpose into the throwing and it becomes an enjoyable game.

For the Christian, life is linear; we are going somewhere – to Heaven or to Hell. The Glorious Mysteries emphasize that our destiny is Heaven; a glorious life beyond this life.
(Rev. Albert J. M. Shamon. The Power of the Rosary. 1990 p. 4, 10)

Yes, the Glorious Mysteries give us a look into the future. They assure us that we are meant to live forever with God in Heaven. We are meant, and so we have meaning! This is very good news and helps us to think rightly! God wants us to keep Heaven in our view finder all the time!

As Our Lady has said:

May 25, 2017  “Dear children! The Most High has permitted me to call you anew to conversion. Little children, open your hearts to the grace to which you are all called. Be witnesses of peace and love in this peaceless world. Your life here on earth is passing. Pray that through prayer you may yearn for Heaven and the things of Heaven and your hearts will see everything differently. You are not alone; I am with you and intercede before my Son Jesus for you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

Dearest Mother, thank you for the gift of the Rosary! Thank you turning our eyes towards our eternal future, a life with God in Heaven. Don’t let us ever forget this glorious future or endanger it in any way through sin. Mother, be our advocate and guide as we journey towards eternity, a life with God forever!

Dear Family of Mary!

33 Day Prayer of Consecration to Our Lady of the Rosary – Day 23

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit!
Receive our Consecration Prayer, O dearest Mother Mary!

Today we continue with Fr. Shaman’s discussion of why the Rosary promotes good thinking:

The Rosary is good thinking. It drives home four great truths of religion. (today reason #2)

2. The Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary teach the second great truth of religion; namely, sin is what makes this life a vale of tears.

The Sorrowful Mysteries tell us that sin – not doing God’s will but doing our will – is the path to sorrow. How few think it is! Youth, for instance, often think alcohol, drugs, and sex are the road to happiness. Going our way and not His way is the way to pain and unhappiness.
(Rev. Albert J. M. Shamon. The Power of the Rosary. 1990 p. 4, 10)

Isn’t it true! Think of Adam and Eve in the Garden. They were seduced by the Devil into thinking that God’s will for them (not eating of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil) was really God’s way of hiding something wonderful from them. The serpent beguiled them into mistrusting God, thinking that God did not have their best interest in mind. And so, they fell. And we are all fallen. Now we must change our way of thinking, by choosing to believe that God’s plan for our lives is the very best plan of all!! Renewed trust in the Father is demonstrated especially through Jesus’ suffering and death on the Cross. Jesus always trusted the Father and so should we!

As Our Lady has said:

May 25, 2018 “Dear children! In this peaceless time, I am calling you to have more trust in God who is your Father in Heaven and who has sent me to lead you to Him. You, open your hearts to the gifts which He desires to give you and, in the silence of your heart, adore my Son Jesus who has given His life so that you may live in eternity – where He desires to lead you. May your hope be the joy of a meeting with the Most High in everyday life. Therefore, I am calling you: do not neglect prayer because prayer works miracles. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

Dearest Mother, thank you for the gift of the Rosary! Thank you for finding such a perfect way to help us become good thinkers, those who ponder and learn the truth through the mysteries of Jesus’ life. We have a good teacher in you, dearest Mary!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Dear Family of Mary!

Here is the September 25, 2019 message from Our Lady, Queen of Peace!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
