Matthew 6: 24-34

(c)Mary TV 2014 JMJ August 18, 2016 Dear Family of Mary! Today is Thursday. Each Thursday Our Lady asked something specific from us: Thursday, March 1, 1984 – To Jelena: “Each Thursday, read again the passage of Matthew 6: 24-34, before the most Blessed Sacrament, or if it is not possible to come to church, do it with your family.” Matthew 6: 24-34 is important for us. I believe it is the only Scripture passage that she specifically asked us to read each week. This Scripture is a simple call to leave our worries about our earthly life behind, and focus completely on our Heavenly Father and His life for us. I think that Our Lady understands the immense power that materialism has in our world today. We have learned to use the earth’s resources to such a great degree, that we are inundated with the things of this world. They are overpowering us, deadening our souls, and blinding us to the reality that this world will end. All we see is stuff!! And we want it!! So to combat this massive assault on our senses and our wills, she wants ut to read Matthew 6:24-34. She told us: May 25, 2012 “Dear children! Also today I call you to conversion and to holiness. God desires to give you joy and peace through prayer but you, little children, are still far away – attached to the earth and to earthly things. Therefore, I call you anew: open your heart and your sight towards God and the things of God – and joy and peace will come to reign in your hearts. Thank you for having responded to my call.” We want God’s joy and peace to reign in our hearts. This cannot happen if we are sated with material things, and constantly concerned with them. With these words in mind, let’s prayerfully read Matthew 6: 24-34, asking for the grace to live this call! “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O men of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, `What shall we eat?’ or `What shall we drink?’ or `What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek all these things; and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day’s own trouble be sufficient for the day. Mother help us to open our hearts and our minds to God and the things of God, that we may be filled with the joy and peace of God! Thank you for your call to us!! In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! Cathy Nolan ©Mary TV 2016
