Yearn for Heaven!

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2016 JMJ October 17, 2016 Saint Ignatius of Antioch Dear Family of Mary! The Gospel for today (Luke 12:13-21) tells the familiar parable of the rich man whose harvest was so big that he decided to tear down his barns and build bigger ones so he could keep all his produce and live a care-free life. But God says to him, “You fool, this night your life will be demanded of you; and the things you have prepared, to whom will they belong?” The message is clear. We are only passing through this life. It is not our end point. Those of us who try to hide from that reality are fools. We are meant for eternity. Our home is with God. Our Lady once told us: September 25, 2012 “Dear children! When in nature you look at the richness of the colors which the Most High gives to you, open your heart and pray with gratitude for all the good that you have and say: ‘I am here created for eternity’ – and yearn for heavenly things because God loves you with immeasurable love. This is why He also gave me to you to tell you: ‘Only in God is your peace and hope, dear children’. Thank you for having responded to my call.” Her message is the antidote to the attitude of the rich man in the parable. Yes, we must rejoice at the bounty of our world. Especially now at harvest time, we can only marvel at the provision of God for us. But Our Lady tells us that all we see in nature is from the Most High!! He is the giver of all good things. She calls us to respond to this bounty with gratitude. And in that gratitude let go of it all. We are not created just to consume the earth’s goods. She tells us to say, “I am here created for eternity!” The riches of the earth are only meaningful as a help in reaching eternity with God. “Yearn for heavenly things because God loves you with immeasurable love.”There is great healing for our souls if we begin to yearn for heaven and God. When we live only for this world, we silence our souls. We deny the true desire of our souls, and try to silence the yearning for God that is built into us. We distract ourselves with all kinds of things, to run from that inner voice that says, “I need God”. But we can release that truth in ourselves by choosing the truth. We need God. The Lord has sent Our Lady to help us to do just that. “This is why He also gave me to you to tell you: ‘Only in God is your peace and hope, dear children.’” Jesus wants us to recognize our deep need for God. There is so much hope in owning it. We need God. We want God. We are made for God. God is our only hope and future. He is our peace and hope. May we break free from the delusion of the rich man, and find our true hope and joy in God! In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! Cathy Nolan ©Mary TV 2016 PS.
