What wonderful words of wisdom! You may enjoy hearing it rather than reading it. Here is the link to the English Homily in Medjugorje Archive, https://marytv.tv/?page_id=192 The November 8, 2016 English Mass Homily in Medjugorje: I wonder if we have ever reflected on exactly why we have come to Medjugorje. Out of interest? Maybe. But I suspect that it is something deeper, although we might not be able to articulate it. All of us have a deep need. At the center of each one of us is a profound loneliness. A loneliness that only God can fill. Right from the start Our Lady has been appearing to the visionaries for one purpose: to draw us to her Son, Jesus. As she has so frequently told the visionaries, “My coming to you is not as important as Jesus coming to you in the Eucharist, in Communion.” I think we should often reflect on that. Our Lady has not come to give us some intellectual enlightenment, but to draw us to a person, Jesus Christ, God made Man for us. I suspect we have never really reflected enough on the mystery of the Incarnation. God made Man for us. Jesus lives among us to be with us, to save us, to forgive our sins, to heal us, to redeem us. Now, not in the future, but now, at this moment. If we feel our inadequacy, our incompetence, our emptiness, our sinfulness… and we do, otherwise we wouldn’t have come here…let us rejoice!! Because that is why He came: to forgive our sins, to transform us, to fill us, to love us, unconditionally, just as we are. God does not love us because we are good. God loves us because God loves us. All he asks of us is an open heart. Not a hard, confident heart, a heart of stone, that seeks self-fulfillment, self-adequacy. But a heart of flesh, a soft, wobbly heart, one that can suffer, can be hurt, can be dry, but capable of loving and being loved. Prayer opens us up to that love. St. Augustine describes prayer as “cor ad cor loquitor”, that is “heart speaks to heart”. The honest exposure of the heart. I often quote the famous statement of St. Cyprian, martyred in the 3rd Century. He says, “God does not listen to the voice, but to the heart.” So Jesus says to each one of us, “At each moment of the day, come. Do not be afraid, it is I. I am with you. I am with you in your suffering. I am with you in your dryness. I am with you in your inadequacy, in your incompetence, in your sinfulness, but just with you.” We reply, “Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul with be healed.” No we say that before Communion, but we should say that frequently during the day. Every day. And then we will have a peace, because our security is not in ourselves, but in Him who loves us. In these very difficult days, Jesus alone is our security. He is our only hope! In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! Cathy Nolan ©Mary TV 2016
