All Souls

(c)Mary TV   J.M.J. November 2, 2017 All Soul’s Day Dear Family of Mary! Today we pray for all our faithful departed. We remember them with great love, and pray that they are even now enjoying the Beatific Vision, basking in the presence of God. Our Lady told the visionaries to pray for the souls in Purgatory because they need prayer. Here are some early messages about the souls: July 21, 1982 “There are many souls in Purgatory. There are also persons who have been consecrated to God: some priests, some religious. Pray for their intentions, at least 7 Our Father’s, Hail Mary’s and Glory Be’s and the Creed. I recommend it to you. There is a large number of souls who have been in Purgatory for a long time because no one prays for them.” January 10, 1983 Questioned on the subject of Purgatory, the Blessed Virgin says: “There are different levels of which the lowest are close to Hell and the highest gradually draw near to Heaven. It is not on All Soul’s Day, but at Christmas, that the greatest numbers of souls leave Purgatory. There are in Purgatory, souls who pray ardently to God, but for whom no relative or friend prays for them on earth. God makes them benefit from the prayers of other people. It happens that God permits them to manifest themselves in different ways, close to their relatives on earth, in order to remind men of the existence of Purgatory, and to solicit their prayers close to God who is just, but good. The majority go to Purgatory. Many go to Hell. A small number go directly to Heaven.” November 6, 1986 “Dear children! Today I wish to call you to pray daily for souls in purgatory. For every soul prayer and grace is necessary to reach God and the love of God. By doing this, dear children, you obtain new intercessors who will help you in life to realize that all the earthly things are not important for you, that only Heaven is that for which it is necessary to strive. Therefore, dear children, pray without ceasing that you may be able to help yourselves and the others to whom your prayers will bring joy. Thank you for having responded to my call.” Our Lady’s compassionate heart communicates to us the needy state of these souls. Let’s respond to her request and pray for them today, and every day!   Here is a beautiful prayer for the souls in Purgatory written by St. Alphonsus: Prayer to Our Lady of Pity O Lady of Pity, consoler of the afflicted and Mother of all who believe, look mercifully on the poor souls in purgatory who are also your children and more worthy of your pity because of their incapacity to help themselves in the midst of their ineffable sufferings. Pray, dear Co-Redemptrix, intercede for us with the power of your meditation before the Throne of Divine Mercy and in payment for their debt offer up the Life, Passion and Death of your Divine Son, together with your merits and those of all the saints in heaven and the just on earth, so that, with divine justice completely satisfied, they may come into Paradise soon to thank and praise you forever and ever. Amen. And here is a prayer written by St. John Paul II for the faithful departed: Blest are the Pure in Heart (From Pope John Paul II, at the Verano Cemetery, Rome, November 1, 1981) For all our brothers and sisters who rest in the Verano Cemetery and in all the graveyards of Rome and of the world, may the words of Christ in the Sermon on the Mount become the Good News of Eternal salvation. May the kingdom of heaven be theirs, May they possess it as a “Promised Land.” May they have eternal joy. May they be satisfied in their hunger and thirst for righteousness. May they be called children of God forever. May they see God face to face. May their joy and happiness be full and unlimited. Let us pray: O God, the glory of believers and the life of the just who saved us by the death and resurrection of your Son, be merciful to our deceased brothers and sisters. When they were in our midst they professed faith in the resurrection; give them endless bliss. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Both prayers can be found in “Praying in the Presence of Our Lord for the Holy Souls in Purgatory”, by Susan Tassone.
