Novena to Our Lady, Assumed into Heaven – Day 7
(c)Mary TV/Anthony Zubac August 12, 2019St. Jane Frances de ChantalNovena for the Assumption of Our Lady Day 7 Dear Family of Mary! Day 7 of our Novena!! We hear today from St. John Paul II! He assures us that today Our Lady is close to us. She shines before us as the woman who made up for the guilt of Eve, by saying “yes” to God without reserve, conceiving Jesus. Mary turned the tide of sin and brokenness by her “yes” and now she intercedes for us all in heaven, where she was assumed, body and soul! St. John Paul II wrote: “Today the liturgy invites us to contemplate Mary, taken up body and soul into heaven. By a special privilege, she was enriched by divine grace from the moment of her conception, and Christ, who ascended to the right hand of the Father, opened the doors of his kingdom to her, first among human creatures. Now from heaven, where the Queen of the angels and saints is crowned, the Mother of God and of the Church is close to the Christian people before whom she shines as the “new and immaculate woman (who) mediated for the guilt of the first woman.” – Pope St. John Paul II (West) St. John Paul II tells us that Our Lady is close to us! And I believe he knew very well that she was close to us in body and soul, in Medjugorje! He wanted very much to go there and encouraged many to go there. This closeness of Our Lady is very real, very tangible. But we need to choose to be close to her, through prayer, so that she can tend to us. We need her care, so very much. She has told us: “Dear children! Today I invite you to decide to give time patiently for prayer. Little children, you cannot say you are mine and that you have experienced conversion through my messages if you are not ready to give time to God every day. I am close to you and I bless you all. Little children, do not forget that if you do not pray you are not close to me, nor are you close to the Holy Spirit who leads you along the path to holiness. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (July 25, 1994) May this novena help us to draw close to Our Lady through prayer. She is truly present to us in Medjugorje, close to us! May we draw close to her: Prayer to Our Lady of the Assumptionby Pope St. Pius X O Immaculate Virgin, Mother of God and Mother of humanity, we believe with all the fervor of our faith in your triumphal assumption both in body and in soul into heaven where you are acclaimed as queen by all the choirs of angels and all the legions of saints; we unite with them to praise and bless the Lord who has exalted you above all other pure creatures and to offer you the tribute of our devotion and our love. We know that your gaze, which on earth watched over the humble and suffering humanity of Jesus, in heaven is filled with the vision of that humanity glorified and with the vision of uncreated wisdom, and that the joy of your soul in the direct contemplation of the adorable Trinity causes your heart to throb with overwhelming tenderness; and we, poor sinners whose body weights down the flight of the soul, beg you to purify our hearts so that, while we remain below, we may learn to see God and God alone in the beauties of his creatures. We trust that your merciful eyes may deign to gaze down upon our miseries and anguish, upon our struggles and our weaknesses; that your countenance may smile upon our joys and our victories; that you may hear the voice of Jesus saying to you of each one of us, as He once said to you of his beloved disciple: “Behold your son,” and we who call upon you as our mother, we, like John, take you as the guide, strength and consolation of our mortal life. We are inspired by the certainty that your eyes, which wept over the earth crimsoned by the blood of Jesus, are yet turned toward this world racked by wars and persecutions, the oppression of the just and the weak. From the shadows of this vale of tears, we seek in your heavenly assistance, tender mercy, comfort for our aching hearts, and help in the trials of Church and country. We believe finally that in the glory where you reign, clothed with the sun and crowned with stars, you are, after Jesus, the joy and gladness of all the angels and the saints, and from this earth, over which we tread as pilgrims, comforted by our faith in the future resurrection, we look to you our life, our sweetness, our hope; draw us onward with the sweetness of your voice, so that one day, after our exile, you may show us Jesus, the blessed fruit of your womb. O clement, O loving,O sweet Virgin Mary. Amen. In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!Cathy Nolan©Mary TV 2019
