July 15, 2020 Reflection – To Babes!

God chooses to reveal Himself to Babes! (c) Mary TV   July 15, 2020 St. Bonaventure, Bishop, Doctor of the Church Dear Family of Mary! The Gospel for today shares one of the most amazing mysteries of God’s relationship with us: At that time Jesus declared, “I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes; yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will. All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. (Mt 11:25-27) What does Jesus say? God the Father chooses to reveal things about Himself to babes! He actually hides those things from the wise and understanding and shares them with little ones. What is it about babes that makes them more suited to receiving God’s revelation? Why are they better stewards of these mysteries than the wise and the learned? In a word, I believe it is humility. The humble heart trusts God and is able to accept the revelations of love that the Father sends to it. The humble heart is ready to suffer for those truths, those revelations of our God. The humble heart is empty of self and capable of loving his neighbor enough to share the revelation of God’s love with him. A humble one will not take God’s word and use it for himself but will share it freely. Our Lady told us: October 2, 2010 “Dear children; Today I call you to a humble, my children, humble devotion. Your hearts need to be just. May your crosses be your means in the battle against the sins of the present time. May your weapon be patience and boundless love, a love that knows to wait and which will make you capable of recognizing God’s signs, that your life, by humble love, may show the truth to all those who seek it in the darkness of lies… My children, my apostles, help me to open the paths to my Son. Once again, I call you to pray for your shepherds. Alongside them, I will triumph. Thank you.” She tells us that we must have a humble devotion. We must be very aware of our smallness and God’s universal authority and power. We must be so sure of God’s infinite love that we will be able to carry our crosses with trust and hope, knowing that these crosses will bring victory. Only little ones who have God as their true and real Father can do that. We must fight for the truth with patience and boundless love, waiting for God to give us the signs we need. Those signs are the revelations that Jesus was rejoicing about in the Gospel. God will show the little ones the way forward! He will illumine their way. And as they travel on that way, those who do not know God will be amazed and begin to follow them. Truly it will be clear that God is leading them. This is very much a part of our job as Our Lady’s children. She is forming an army of “babes” who can be led by God and receive God’s signs. We will be able to show the way for those who do not know Him. In this time of uncertainty, Our Lady needs her humble ones who can accompany her in this battle for souls. She needs little ones to whom the Father reveals His love. Armed with that love, they will be able to pray for the conversion of souls, pray for the healing of hearts, pray for the deliverance from evil, and stand with Our Lady in her Triumph!
