St. Bernard was deeply devoted to Our Lady.  He once said: “O Blessed Mary, whoever loves you honors God; whoever serves you pleases God; whoever invokes your holy name with a pure heart will infallibly receive the object of his petition.”  It is true, Our Lady is a sure way to God’s heart!!  As Queen of Heaven she can intercede for us in all things!! Here is our message for today: “Dear children! Today I invite you to peace. I have come here as the Queen of Peace and I desire to enrich you with my motherly peace. Dear children, I love you and I desire to bring all of you to the peace which only God gives, and which enriches every heart. I invite you to become carriers and witnesses of my peace to this unpeaceful world. Let peace reign in the whole world which is without peace and longs for peace. I bless you with my motherly blessing. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (July 25, 1990) Almost every pilgrim in Medjugorje remarks immediately that they feel deep peace in Medjugorje.  It is in the air you breathe.  No one could manufacture such peace.  It is Our Lady’s motherly peace!!  And that peace comes from God!  This is the peace Our Lady longs to give to us and to the whole world.  We want to receive her peace. Today we have a prayer, O Mary, Queen of Peace.  It was written by St. John Paul II and is a deep cry from his holy heart to our Mother, asking for peace!  Let Our Lady fill you with her peace, the peace she gives in Medjugorje, the peace that comes from God! THE PRAYER O MARY, QUEEN OF PEACE By Pope John Paul II December 8, 2003 To you, O Mary, we turn our gaze with stronger trepidation, to you we hasten back with more insistent trust in these times scarred by a multitude of doubts and fears for the present and future destiny of our planet. To you, the first-fruits of humanity redeemed by Christ, set free at last from the slavery of evil and sin, we raise together our heartfelt, trusting plea: listen to the cry of pain of the war victims, of the victims of the many forms of violence that bathe the earth in blood. Dispel the shadows of sorrow and of loneliness, of hatred and of revenge. Open to forgiveness the minds and hearts of all! Queen of Peace, pray for us! Mother of mercy and of hope, obtain for the men and women of the third millennium the precious gift of peace; peace in hearts and families, in communities and among peoples; peace above all for those nations where people fight and die every day. Obtain that every human being of every race and culture may encounter and accept Jesus, who came down to earth in the mystery of Christmas to give ‘his” peace to us. As we approach the Feast of the Queenship of Mary, August 22, we continue to meditate on the messages from Our Lady in which she calls herself “The Queen of Peace.”  It would seem that in our modern society, the idea of royalty seems antiquated. In the “real world” of politics there are no kings and queens, only party leaders and elected officials.  But in the Eternal reality of God, there is royalty.  Jesus is the King of Heaven and Earth, the King of Peace.  And Our Lady is the Queen of Heaven and Earth, the Queen of Peace!  And we need to learn how to relate to our King and Queen, in all their royal dignity! Our Lady said to us: “Dear children! Today I am calling you to a complete surrender to God. Everything you do and everything you possess give over to God so that He can take control in your life as the King of all that you possess. That way, through me, God can lead you into the depths of the spiritual life. Little children, do not be afraid, because I am with you even if you think there is no way out and that satan is in control. I am bringing peace to you I am your mother, the Queen of Peace. I am blessing you with the blessings of joy so that for you God may be everything in your life… Thank you for having responded to my call.” July 25, 1988 Our Lady is our Queen.  But she does not rule by power and might.  She is first our Mother!  “I am your mother, the Queen of Peace”.  She blesses us with a blessing of joy!  She is with us to dispel fear, even fear of satan, because she is with us.  No matter what it looks like, she is stronger than our adversary.  She leads us into a relationship with Jesus, our King! Once Jesus takes control of our lives, we are free to follow Our Lady into the depths of the spiritual life!  Truly Our Lady is our Mother, who gives us her heart, and surrounds us with her protections. St. John Eudes taught about the Hearts of Jesus and Mary!  He understood that we can only know our King and Queen through a heart to heart relationship.  And so, on St. John Eudes feast day, let’s pray his beautiful prayer to the Heart of Mary: Heart of Mary Hail, Heart most holy. Hail, Heart most meek. Hail, Heart most humble. Hail, Heart most pure. Hail, Heart most devoted. Hail, Heart most wise. Hail, Heart most patient. Hail, Heart most obedient. Hail, Heart most watchful. Hail, Heart most faithful. Hail, Heart most blessed. Hail, Heart most merciful. Hail, most loving Heart of Mary. We adore You. We praise You. We glorify You. We give You thanks. We love You. With all our heart, with all our soul, with all our strength, we offer our heart to You. We give, We consecrate, We immolate, Accept and possess our heart entirely, And purify it, and enlighten it, And sanctify it, That You may live and reign in our heart, Now and forever.
