November 16, 2020 Reflection – Son of David, have mercy on me!

Son of David, have mercy on me! November 16, 2020 St. Gertrude the Great, Virgin St. Margaret of Scotland, Queen Dear Family of Mary! Day 8 of our Novena for the world and our countries: Our Lady told St. Faustina: On the day of the Assumption of the Mother of God, I did not assist at Holy Mass. The woman doctor did not allow me; but I prayed fervently in my cell. After a short time, I saw the Mother of God, unspeakably beautiful. She said to me, My daughter, what I demand from you is prayer, prayer, and once again prayer, for the world and especially for your country. For nine days receive Holy Communion in atonement and unite yourself closely to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. During these nine days you will stand before God as an offering; always and everywhere, at all times and places, day or night, whenever you wake up, pray in the spirit. In spirit, one can always remain in prayer. (Diary 325) We see in the Gospel for today, the great mercy of Christ, poured out upon the blind man who just would not be silenced.  He knew that Jesus was his only hope of ever regaining his sight.  And his hope would not let him give up. “As Jesus approached Jericho a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging, and hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what was happening. They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” He shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!” The people walking in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent, but he kept calling out all the more, “Son of David, have pity on me!” Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him; and when he came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” He replied, “Lord, please let me see.” Jesus told him, “Have sight; your faith has saved you.” He immediately received his sight and followed him, giving glory to God. When they saw this, all the people gave praise to God.” (Luke 18:35-43) We are in a similar situation now, with the world falling so helplessly into chaos.  But we must call out to Jesus, constantly and everywhere, as Our Lady told St. Faustina to do.  “Son of David, have pity on me!!!!”  “Son of David, have pity on us!!!” Our Lady told us to cry out for her Son in this message: May 2, 2009 “Dear children! Already for a long time I am giving you my motherly heart and offering my Son to you. You are rejecting me. You are permitting sin to overcome you more and more. You are permitting it to master you and to take away your power of discernment. My poor children, look around you and look at the signs of the times. Do you think that you can do without God’s blessing? Do not allow darkness to envelop you. From the depth of your hearts cry out for my Son. His Name disperses even the greatest darkness… I will be with you, just call on me: ‘Here we are Mother, lead us.’ Thank you.” Here is a Litany of Our Lady of Hope, which will encourage us to call on Our Lady and to pray, pray, pray and never give up!
