February 21, 2022 Reflection – “Permit Jesus to be born in your lives!”
Permit Jesus to be born in your lives! February 21, 2022 Dear Family of Mary! The first reading for Mass today speaks very candidly about the difference between the wisdom from above and the wisdom from the world: Letter of Saint James 3:13-18 “Beloved: Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show his works by a good life in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. Wisdom of this kind does not come down from above but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every foul practice. But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without inconstancy or insincerity. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for those who cultivate peace.” Bitter jealousy and selfish ambition…we know the fruit of these two impulses. There is no love in a heart driven by these desires. There is no peace in a family or a work place where these drives are in play. St. James says these drives are demonic! But St. James gives us the antidote to this demonic disorder which leads to all kinds of foul practices: “But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without inconstancy or insincerity. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for those who cultivate peace.” Like St. James, Our Lady has warned us of the same tendencies in society. And she gives us the perfect antidote: November 25, 2019 “Dear children! May this time be a time of prayer for you. Without God you do not have peace. Therefore, little children, pray for peace in your hearts and families, so that Jesus can be born in you and give you His love and blessing. The world is at war because hearts are full of hatred and jealousy. In the eyes, little children, peacelessness is seen because you have not permitted Jesus to be born in your lives. Seek Him, pray, and He will give Himself to you in the Child who is joy and peace. I am with you and I pray for you. Thank you for having responded to my call.” Quite simply, Our Lady says that we must pray for Jesus to be born in our hearts if we want to escape the evil tendencies of the world. Jesus is the sum total of all the virtues. He brings to us peace, love, and the humility of the Child. Such things make our lives full and hopeful. There is no desire to be jealous or envious, to be ambitious or grasping. Jesus brings us love and He fills us with all we need. May we permit Jesus to be born in our hearts every single day!
