September 9, 2026 Reflection- Blessed are you who are poor…
“Blessed are you who are poor, September 9, 2026 Dear Family of Mary! Our Gospel today is a simple one, but very challenging to live. Listen to Jesus: Luke 6:20-26 Raising his eyes toward his disciples Jesus said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is yours. Blessed are you who are now hungry, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who are now weeping, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude and insult you, and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man. “Rejoice and leap for joy on that day! Behold, your reward will be great in heaven. For their ancestors treated the prophets in the same way.” “But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation But woe to you who are filled now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will grieve and weep. Woe to you when all speak well of you, for their ancestors treated the false prophets in this way.” The Gospel of the Lord. Jesus certainly turns the tables on us in this Gospel. All our ways of counting on human respect fall away, and we see how naked we are without love. Our Lady has spoken similarly to us in her messages. Here is one: “Think! What do you offer to Him [the Lord] in return. When was the last time you gave up something for the Lord? I will not blame you further, but once again call you to prayer, fasting, and to penance. If you wish to obtain a grace from the Lord by fasting, then let no one know that you are fasting. If you wish to obtain the grace of God through a gift to the poor, let no one know it, except you and the Lord. Listen to me, my children!
