Dear Family of Mary!
“Dear children, thank you for continuing to respond to my invitations and for gathering here around me, your heavenly mother. I know that you are thinking of me with love and hope. I, too, feel love for all of you, just as my most beloved Son also feels it: He who, through his merciful love, is always sending me to you anew…” (July 2, 2017)
Our Lady comes to us in Medjugorje as a loving mother. She tells us she feels love for each of us. She longs for us to find true peace, to know her Son, to be united with her in heaven. She loves us and she thanks us.
How can we thank her? I found a lovely thanksgiving prayer to Our Lady, written by Fr. Slavko Barbaric and published in his book “Follow me with the Heart.” This book (the second edition) was published in 2000, the year Fr. Slavko died.
We can imagine we are sitting on Podbrdo (Apparition Hill) near Our Lady’s statue and pray together. (You can also go to our live camera on Apparition Hill to pray at the apparition site. Here is the link: https://marytv.tv/?page_id=309 )
Thanksgiving to the Queen of Peace. (by Fr. Slavko Barbaric)
Mary, I am sitting here on your hill of Podbrdo,
in the place where those frightened children first saw you.
[Thirty-six] years have passed since you first came
with your Son Jesus to our rugged hill.
[Thirty-six] years have passed since you cried under the cross
and called us to reconciliation.
Today I want to express my gratitude:
Thank you Mary for having come here.
Thank you for every message, for every single word,
and thank you especially because you call me your dear child.
Thank you because I can really trust that I am dear to you,
and that you love me.
Thank you because you let me know that if I pray,
I will begin to understand your love
and then I will cry and jump for joy.
Thank you because you said
that I am important to you
and that without us you cannot realize your plans.
On your hill of Podbrdo this [day],
My soul is singing its thanks to you,
and together with you
I will bless the Lord who sent you here.
I know that you are the humble servant of the Lord,
but allow me to bless and thank you.
Blessed are you, Mary, Queen of Peace.
My soul together with St. Elizabeth, the whole parish
and the pilgrims rejoices:
How is it that the mother of my Lord comes to me…
I bless you with the visionaries and in the families.
I bless you with the parish community and in the hearts of pilgrims.
I bless you with all families who have accepted you and live in peace.
I bless you with all the prayer groups of the world,
because you teach us to pray.
I bless you with all those who have come from near and far to pray here.
I bless you with all those who have confessed
and have made their peace with the Lord.
I bless you with all those who, at your intercession
have received new health in spirit, soul, and body.
I bless you together with all those who have rejoiced
in the 36th anniversary of your apparitions here.
I bless you for everything that the Lord will do in the future through you.
I bless you in the name of all those who have been
and some who still are against your coming here,
because I know that you will show your gentle motherly love to them too.
Together with you I beg the Lord to calm every heart
and give peace to my people.
Together with you I will intercede for all those
who are ill in soul and body.
Together with you I beg the Lord to console those who are saddened
by the aftermath of war, all those who are left invalids.
Together with you I will intercede for the souls of
the victims of violence and those who died defending their country.
Together with you I will ask that your Immaculate Heart
be glorified in the world and that peace is bestowed at your intercession.
May almighty God be blessed now and forever.
Amen.
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
