Our Lady of Fatima

First Friday
Dear Family of Mary!
Yesterday (May 4) Mary TV began a novena in honor of Our Lady’s apparition in Fatima! On May 13, 2017 it will be 100 years since Our Lady came to the three shepherd children in Portugal. Our Lady called for prayer and sacrifice so that the terrible World War I would end. She also predicted another war, and asked her children to pray and repent to avert it.
Pope Saint John Paul II recognized a connection between the Fatima apparitions and those of Medjugorje. He said to Bishop Paolo Hnilica in 1984: “Medjugorje is the fulfillment and continuation of Fatima!” He understood that Our Lady was coming in Medjugorje to continue her prophetic work in the world, to save us from war and self-destruction.
Our Lady, herself, made the connection in her message of August 25, 1991:
“Dear Children! Today also I invite you to prayer, now as never before when my plan has begun to be realized. Satan is strong and wants to sweep away my plans of peace and joy and make you think that my Son is not strong in His decisions. Therefore, I call all of you, dear children, to pray and fast still more firmly. I invite you to self-renunciation for nine days so that, with your help, everything that I desire to realize through the secrets I began in Fatima, may be fulfilled. I call you, dear children, to now grasp the importance of my coming and the seriousness of the situation. I want to save all souls and present them to God. Therefore, let us pray that everything I have begun be fully realized. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (Aug. 25, 1991 message. This is the only time in any of her messages that she mentioned another apparition).
Our Lady wants to save all souls and present them to God. This task has been given her by the Father, and she needs us as she needed the three shepherds of Fatima. She needs us to pray, to fast, to sacrifice and to believe.
During our daily live prayer (Hour of Mercy and the Daily Rosary) on Mary TV, Denis and I will be praying these prayers for the novena in honor of 100 years of Fatima. They are the prayers the Angel of Portugal taught to the three shepherd children, in preparation for Our Lady’s coming to them.
1. “My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love Thee! I ask pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love Thee.” (repeated three times)
2. “Most Holy Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit- I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges, and indifferences whereby He is offended. And through the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners.”
We will also pray our “Daily Rosary” with that intention. Our Lady of Fatima is now with us in Medjugorje! Perhaps if her apostles respond to her call now, the prayer she gave us at Fatima to include at the end of each decade of the Rosary will be realized: “Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those most in need of your Mercy.”
Join us in prayer, as we honor Our Lady of Fatima and ask for her continued guidance in Medjugorje!
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
