Dear Family of Mary,
Our Gospel today continues the discussion between Jesus and the Jewish leaders who wanted to silence Him. The question was all about Jesus’ origin. Who was He? Where did He get His authority? Ultimately, this discussion would lead to the Crucifixion. The leaders could not allow Jesus to live and spread His authority. They would lose everything.
Today Jesus speaks of His origins:
John 3:31-36
The one who comes from above is above all. The one who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of earthly things. But the one who comes from heaven is above all. He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. Whoever does accept his testimony certifies that God is trustworthy. For the one whom God sent speaks the words of God. He does not ration his gift of the Spirit. The Father loves the Son and has given everything over to him. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him. The Gospel of the Lord.
Jesus asserted boldly that the only way to life was to follow Him because that way comes from Heaven. It contains a logic that is not of this world. It contains a value system that is from above, from the Father. That value system overturns all the earthly systems which enslave men. Jesus spoke words of life which challenged the control and value systems of men.
Today we still face the same turmoil. How to live in a world filled with human beings who have wildly different value systems. We know the answer. We must follow that very same Jesus that the Jewish leaders rejected. We must entrust our lives to that same Jesus who was tortured and murdered because He presented a totally different value system which would topple their positions of power. And we can do it, if we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us!
Our Lady speaks in similar ways to us in her messages. Here are two:
June 25, 2002 “Dear children! Today I pray for you and with you that the Holy Spirit may help you and increase your faith, so that you may accept even more the messages that I am giving you here in this holy place. Little children, comprehend that this is a time of grace for each of you; and with me, little children, you are secure. I desire to lead you all on the way of holiness. Live my messages and put into life every word that I am giving you. May they be precious to you because they come from Heaven. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
Our Lady’s words come from Heaven! These words cut through worldly logic with the light of Heaven.
December 25, 2019 “Dear children! I am carrying my Son Jesus to you, for Him to bless you and reveal to you His love, which comes from Heaven. Your heart yearns for peace, of which there is less and less on earth. That is why people are far from God and souls are sick and heading towards spiritual death. I am with you, little children, to lead you on this way of salvation to which God calls you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
Our Lady’s words come from Heaven!! They will lead us to Jesus! They will lead us to true life. Let’s follow our Mother, who has been sent to us by God, so that we can find the way to life.
