Dear Family of Mary!
“…In a special way, my motherly heart loves the shepherds. Pray for their blessed hands. Thank you.” (September 2, 2016)
Our Lady loves the priests. Over and over again she asks us to pray for her priests, to intercede for them, because they are so important for the salvation of souls. Mother Teresa of Calcutta also loves the priests. She has firsthand knowledge of the importance of the priest in the lives of the dying. She has seen over and over again the power of the priest to reconcile sinners with God, to give them what she calls the “ticket to heaven” (Baptism).
Let me share one of the stories she tells in her talk to the Priests’ Retreat in Rome in 1990 (https://marytv.tv/?page_id=513 ). It shows this incredible dynamic between dying souls and the priest.
“I have seen it again and again. Our people in our home for the dying. After they have made their peace with God…something…something…. When I was last time in New York, we have a home for AIDs. And there was a phone call, a young man was phoning. “Mother Teresa, I think I have got the disease. I am going to the doctor, and if he says that I have it, I want to come to you. I want to die with you.” And I said, “Yes, you will be most welcome.”
The next day, on the phone again, he said, “Yes I have it.” And I said, “Yes, come immediately. I will be very happy to have you. Come.” And he came. And the joy on that man’s face, that he was wanted. That he would be able to make his peace with God. That there would be some priest there to forgive him, to help him to make the peace with Jesus. He was not there two weeks and we prepared him to die. And he died a beautiful death, beautiful death.
What the priest could give to that man! That joy, that peace that no one can give. He died a holy death because his heart was all so spotlessly pure. We have wonderful happenings in our homes where people come face to face with God. Face to face, with the help of the priest who prepares them, who helps them to find the joy of loving and being loved. What a wonderful gift of God the priest is! But what a wonderful and great responsibility to give Jesus. (St. Teresa of Calcutta, Priests’ Retreat, Rome, 1990)

Let’s pray for our priests in union with St. Teresa of Calcutta and Our Lady of Medjugorje. What a wonderful and great responsibility the priests have, and how much we need them!
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

PS. I again want to suggest to all of you to pray about whether Our Lady might be calling you to Medjugorje! The pilgrimage that Mike Nolan is leading on October 3 – 14 still has room. The air fares are quite low. If you have been waiting for the right time to go to Medjugorje, this may be it!!
