Dear Family of Mary!
“Dear children! Today, I am calling you to prayer. May prayer be life to you. Only in this way will your heart be filled with peace and joy. God will be near you and you will feel Him in your heart as a friend. You will speak with Him as with someone whom you know and, little children, you will have a need to witness, because Jesus will be in your heart and you, united in Him. I am with you and love all of you with my motherly love. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (September 25, 2016)
Our Lady urges us to let prayer be life to us. For prayer to be life to us means that we consider it absolutely essential for everyday living. Like the air we breathe, like the water we drink, like the food we eat, we need prayer. It is an essential for life.
I suspect that without continuous prayer, we would be so stunted, spiritually, that we would not be able to manage in heaven. We would need years of purgatory time to clean us up, and heal our spiritual eyes and ears, and lungs etc. to handle the brightness and realness of heaven. Prayer prepares us for heaven. Prayer accustoms us to the Light of God. Prayer strengthens our hearts to be able to handle the intense love that we will be given in heaven. We need to bulk up, spiritually to be able to receive all the beauty and grace and joy of God.
If we learn to be near God and feel Him in our hearts as our friend here on earth, there is a good chance we will be able to approach His presence in heaven. If we speak with Him now, there is a good chance we will be able to hear His words to us, in their power and intense truth in heaven.
I am just guessing here, but I feel like Our Lady wants us to begin heaven here on earth, through prayer, lots and lots of prayer!!
Jelena received some instruction on how to pray from Our Lady in 1983, for the prayer group. Here is an excerpt from that instruction:
6. Devote at least three hours to prayer daily, of which at least, half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the evening. Holy Mass and the prayer of the Rosary are included in this time of prayer. Set aside moments of prayer in the course of the day, and each time that circumstances permit it, receive Holy Communion. Pray with great meditation. Do not look at your watch all the time, but allow yourself to be led by the grace of God. Do not concern yourself too much with the things of this world, but entrust all that in prayer to Our Heavenly Father. If one is very preoccupied, he will not be able to pray well because internal serenity is lacking. God will contribute to lead to a successful end the things of here below, if one strives to do his utmost in working on his own [heart]. Those who attend school or go to work must pray half an hour in the morning and in the evening, and, if possible, participate in the Eucharist. It is necessary to extend the spirit of prayer to daily work, that is to say, to accompany work with prayer.
Our Lady was asking a lot of the young people in the prayer group. But I think she would even ask this of us. If prayer is life to us, three hours a day is not too much.
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
