Memorial of St. Monica
Dear Family of Mary!
Here again is the August 25, 2026 Message from Our Lady, Queen of Peace:
“Dear children. Today I am calling you: return to God, return to prayer, so that you may become carriers of peace. Pray, little children, for peace that is in danger; and may prayer begin to flow anew from your hearts and from your families, so that, in joy, you may feel the voice of Jesus in your hearts: ‘Peace be with you.’ Be, little children, carriers of peace and prayer for all those who do not pray. I am with you and I pray for you before my Son Jesus. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (With Ecclesiastical approval)
Today is the Memorial of St. Monica! She is the holy mother of St. Augustine. We know the story – as a young man, Augustine was anything but saintly. He had no faith, and so he did not respect the moral teachings of the Catholic Church, much to his mother’s sorrow. But she never gave up, praying and fasting for him night and day for conversion. Her prayers were heard, and Augustine was baptized by Saint Ambrose at the age of thirtytwo.
We know him now as a Great Doctor of the Church!I often think that St. Monica shows us a little peak at the Motherhood of Our Lady. All the suffering and prayer that Monica endured for Augustine is a glimpse into the great love Our Lady has for all her children, a love that is expressed in her suffering and ardent prayer for all of us. She is our Mother! She loves us and will not abandon us in our sins. And today we are so blessed to have her presence with us in Medjugorje, where she calls us to conversion even as Monica called Augustine.
And so, she calls us:
“Today I am calling you: return to God, return to prayer, so that you may become carriers of peace.”
May we answer her call with our hearts, turned towards God and constantly in prayer. May we begin to be carriers of peace in this world that is growing ever farther away from peace!
God bless you! Let us pray!!!
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
