May the Holy Spirit fill you, little children, with joy so that you may be like a spring of pure and drinkable water; that you, little children, may be, in God and with God, missionaries of love and peace. Your life is short here on earth and that is why I am with you to lead you towards Heaven. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (With ecclesiastical approval) Our Lady knows what is most important for us! We need the Holy Spirit!!! Let us pray our Novena to the Holy Spirit: Prayer for the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit Christ Jesus, before ascending into heaven, You promised to send the Holy Spirit to Your apostles and disciples. Grant that the same Spirit may perfect in our lives the work of Your grace and love. Father, enlighten us each day, in the silence of our hearts, to discern the voice of Your Spirit, to do what He asks of us and to understand the gifts He freely gives us. Come to us in our weakness and give voice to our petitions, for “the prayers that the Spirit makes for God’s holy people are always in accordance with the mind of God.” We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Here is the Gospel for today: A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew 28:16-20: The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them. When they saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted. Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” The Gospel of the Lord. The Resurrection of Jesus, and his appearances to the Apostles and Disciples after the Resurrection were not enough to completely convince them of Jesus’ return to life. They just couldn’t quite understand how Jesus could truly be with them. That is why it says in the Gospel for today, “The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them. When they saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted.” They saw him, and they worshiped Him, but they doubted? I guess their natural senses could not quite accept the evidence that Jesus had risen. It was too much for them. I asked Denis why they doubted!! And he said to me in a loud voice, “Because they hadn’t received the Holy Spirit yet!!!!” Ha ha!! Of course!! That is the answer. We must be filled with the Holy Spirit in order to truly understand what God is doing in us and through us and around us! So even the Ascension wasn’t enough for the Apostles to understand that Jesus was truly alive and had just ascended into Heaven. We need the Holy Spirit, and the next nine days will be the powerful Novena to the Holy Spirit, which the whole church will pray together. We will be praying for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon us, so that we can renew the Church and the world!! Our Lady told us: August 2, 2011 “Dear children; Today I call you to be born anew in prayer and through the Holy Spirit, to become a new people with my Son; a people who knows that if they have lost God, they have lost themselves; a people who knows that, with God, despite all sufferings and trials, they are secure and saved. I call you to gather into God’s family and to be strengthened with the Father’s strength. As individuals, my children, you cannot stop the evil that wants to begin to rule in this world and to destroy it. But, according to God’s will, all together, with my Son, you can change everything and heal the world. I call you to pray with all your heart for your shepherds, because my Son chose them. “Be prayer and witness peace in your surroundings and be people of peace.” May 13, 2026 Our Lady of Fatima Dear Family of Mary! Today we celebrate the optional memorial of Our Lady of Fatima! Here is the summary of that apparition as printed in the Magnificat: The Blessed Mother appeared for the first time to three Portuguese shepherd children on this date in 1917. Europe was in the grip of the First World War, which would claim an astounding twenty million lives. Only eight days before the apparition, Pope Benedict XV had begged the Blessed Mother to intercede for the war’s end. During her appearances, Mary predicted the devastation of World War II and the grave threat posed by Communist Russia. Her message to the children and the world: reform your lives and do penance for your sins. Pray the rosary every day. The Fatima apparitions of Our Lady helped millions of the faithful during both world wars. Our Lady was with us then, and she is with us now. Here are three messages in which Our Lady mentioned her presence in Fatima to the Medjugorje visionaries: August 25, 1991 “Dear Children! Today also I invite you to prayer, now as never before when my plan has begun to be realized. Thank you for having responded to my call.” Journal of Jelena: Questioned on the similarity between the signs announced in Medjugorje, and the third secret of Fatima, Jelena responds: Toward these things the Gospa told us:“Do not fear anything. You must forget what is behind you in your life. I only want that from now on, you be new people. Do not fear anything when I am near you. I love you.” Clearly Our Mother has been with us throughout this century, especially in Fatima and Medjugorje. Her presence has given us courage to pray and fast for peace and to grow in holiness.
