The Youth Festival eclipsed everything for that time. (We also had a family wedding which was a joy to celebrate!) What a festival of grace it has been!!! We will be discovering the blessings for weeks to come. Today I want to share with you the message Our Lady gave through Ivan during his prayer group’s meeting at the statue on Apparition Hill. Here is what Ivan shared after the apparition: Also to you, I would like to bring closer what was the most important from this meeting. Also, today, Our Lady came to us very joyful and happy and at the beginning, She greeted all of us with Her motherly greeting, “Praised be Jesus, my dear children.” Then, for a while, Our Lady, with Her arms extended, prayed over all of us here. Especially She prayed over you who are sick present here. Then Our Lady said: “Dear children, also today, I desire to call you in a special way to forgiveness. Forgive, dear children, and like this, open the way to the Holy Spirit to your heart. I pray, dear children, for all of you, and intercede for you before my Son. Pray together with me for my plans. Thank you, dear children, for also today having responded to my call.” Then Our Lady blessed all of us with Her motherly blessing, and blessed everything you brought to be blessed. I recommended all of you, your needs, your intentions, your families and especially I recommended all of you, the sick, who are present. After that, Our Lady continued to pray for a while, and She left in that prayer, in an illuminated Sign of the Cross, with a farewell, “Go in peace my dear children.” In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! Our Lady’s Message of August 2, 2018: Dear children, with a motherly love I am calling you to open hearts to peace; to open hearts to my Son, so that in your hearts love for my Son may sing, because only out of that love peace comes in the soul. My children, I know that you have goodness, I know that you have love – a merciful love, but many of my children still have a closed heart. They think that they can do it without directing their thoughts towards the Heavenly Father who illuminates-towards my Son who is always with you anew in the Eucharist and who desires to listen to you. My children, why do you not speak to Him? The life of each of you is important and precious, because it is a gift from the Heavenly Father for eternity. Therefore, do not ever forget to keep on thanking Him: speak to Him. I know, my children, that what is to come afterwards is unknown to you, but when your hereafter comes you will receive all the answers. My motherly love desires that you be ready. My children, by your life keep putting good feelings in the hearts of the people whom you meet, feelings of peace, goodness, love and forgiveness. Through prayer, hearken to what My Son is saying and act accordingly. Anew, I am calling you to prayer for your shepherds, for those whom my Son has called. Remember that they need prayers and love. From August 1 to 6 there will be long days filled with prayer, the Rosary, Holy Mass, Testimonies, Teachings and Catechesis, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Veneration of the Cross, Processions with Our Lady and the Eucharist and finally Holy Mass on Mount Krizevac at Dawn on the Feast of the Transfiguration! Thousands of young people from around the world will join with the Parish of Medjugorje for this grace-filled event. And Our Lady will be blessing everyone with her love and care. In a world filled with conflict and division, where the faith is almost out of sight, the Youth Festival is a moment when God’s light and love can break forth. The young people are signs of God’s presence in the world, and they point to a future with God that is real. Their openness and joy rejuvenates even the most tired hearts. Their dancing and singing make all who attend or watch through the streams from the parish or Mary TV, feel young again!! There is Hope! There is Truth! There is Love!! Thank you to all of you who support Mary TV, because without your donations we would not be able to stream this event. You are giving a gift to countless others who cannot travel to Medjugorje, but will be joining through the internet. Thank you so much!! Let’s pray for all the young people gathered in Medjugorje. Let’s pray for the speakers who will share their experiences of God, or their expertise in the faith. Let’s pray for the Franciscans who wear themselves completely out during these 6 days. Let’s pray for the parishioners who open their homes and hearts to the thousands who attend from all over the world. And let’s pray for Archbishop Hoser, as he attends his first Youth Festival. May he be rejuvenated as well, as he takes pastoral care of all of us. The Schedule for streaming is on our home page. We will stream on the Channel all the sessions. I’m told that we will even be able to stream the closing Mass on Mount Krizevac at 5 am Medj time – live!! Our new technology should be able to send the stream out to all of you, live!!! Also, can I ask that you pray for our team who will be working day and night. They are attempting coverage we have never before been able to achieve. They are amazingly dedicated!! Keep them in your prayers, please!! From August 2 to 5 the Daily Rosary will be streamed at 3:00 pm Medj time, so that we will not conflict with the Afternoon Session at 4:00 pm. Also, Mirjana will be having her August 2 apparition, in the morning on Thursday. We will record that apparition and make it available as soon as possible. I will close with the message Our Lady gave through Mirjana on August 2, 2017. It is long, and full of Motherly wisdom. We can pray for the young people, that they will be filled with Our Lady’s wisdom this week: August 02, 2017 “Dear children, according to the will of the Heavenly Father, as the mother of Him who loves you, I am here with you to help you to come to know Him and to follow Him. My Son has left you His foot-prints to make it easier for you to follow Him. Do not be afraid. Do not be uncertain, I am with you. Do not permit yourselves to be discouraged because much prayer and sacrifice are necessary for those who do not pray, do not love and do not know my Son. You help, by seeing your brothers in them. Apostles of my love, harken to my voice within you, feel my motherly love. Therefore, pray, pray by doing, pray by giving, pray with love, pray in work and thoughts, in the name of my Son. All the more love that you give, so much more of it you will also receive. Love which emanates from love illuminates the world. Redemption is love, and love has no end. When my Son comes to the earth anew, He will look for love in your hearts. My children, many are the acts of love which He has done for you. I am teaching you to see them, to comprehend them and to thank Him by loving Him and always anew forgiving your neighbors. Because to love my Son means to forgive. My Son is not loved if the neighbor cannot be forgiven, if there is not an effort to comprehend the neighbor, if he is judged. My children, of what use is your prayer if you do not love and forgive? That is why I am calling you to pray to Him and to trust in Him, because He is your refuge from every evil that lurks and carries souls far from the grace and joy to which you are all called. Little children, live Heaven here on earth so that it will be good for you; and may the commandments of God be a light on your way. I am with you and I love you all with my motherly love. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (July 25, 2018) Our Lady in this message is giving us instruction in survival. She is showing us how to face these tumultuous days with strength. As our Church is being rocked with scandal at the highest levels, we all need a guiding light, a way to proceed. And she is giving us just that light. “Dear children! God called me to lead you to Him because He is your strength.” The Father has sent Our Lady to lead us, to be our guiding light, the way to go to be with God. She has been providing that guidance for us for 37 years. She has led us to the Lord, so that we can receive His strength in these very difficult days. “That is why I am calling you to pray to Him and to trust in Him, because He is your refuge from every evil that lurks and carries souls far from the grace and joy to which you are all called.” Our Lady has called us to be people of prayer, people who spend much time with Jesus in prayer. This prayer fills us with trust. We experience the interventions of the Lord in our everyday life, and our trust in Him grows. The Surrender Prayer that Denis and I pray every day in the Daily Rosary is exactly this kind of trust. Putting everything in Jesus’ hands, and letting Him take over in our lives is really the way to becoming strong. We become strong because we are depending on the One who has all power and all authority. Jesus can carry us all, if we place ourselves in His hands. “O Jesus, I surrender myself to You. But Our Lady is with us to lead us back to God. She is coming to teach us the way. “Little children, live Heaven here on earth so that it will be good for you; and may the commandments of God be a light on your way.” Isn’t this an amazing word for us!! Live Heaven here on earth so it will be good for you… How do we live heaven on earth? I believe there is a clue in the “Our Father” that Jesus taught us. He said we should pray this way: “Our Father, who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven…” Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. I believe this is the key to living Heaven on earth. We need to learn how to live God’s will on earth, as the souls live God’s will in Heaven! But how do the saints in Heaven live God’s will? This is a very good question. How do they live God’s will in Heaven? My stab at an answer is that they love God with their entire being, and that love teaches them everything they need to know about God’s will for them. It is the Love that guides them to do what God has planned for them. And so we need to grow in love for the Lord, so much in love, that we desire only to please Him. He will show us the way. And that way will always contain the commandments. God’s love is expressed in the commandments, and so the commandments will be our means to loving God always. Well, finally Our Lady tells us: “I am with you and I love you all with my motherly love.” If we have any doubt about doing what she has asked us to do, we can set it aside, because she is with us now, in an extraordinary way. She will not leave our side. And with her help, we will live Heaven here on earth… I can’t wait for the Youth Festival, starting Wednesday!! In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! She captures the daily realities of Medjugorje and helps us all feel connected to Our Lady’s village. But this week, in her “Tea with Rosie” she shared about the coming of Archbishop Hoser to Medjugorje! It is such good news, so joyful and life-giving to hear him share about his mission. So I am quoting Rosie in this reflection. On the 22nd of July, a new era was marked here in Medjugorje. The Holy See’s Visitor, Archbishop Hoser, began his mission here. At the beginning of this month, the Apostolic Nuncio, Monsignor Luigi Pezzuto, read the letter from the Pope in which he explained the appointment of Archbishop Hoser in Medjugorje and his mission. There were many, many priests concelebrating the Evening Mass, and as well as Monsignor there was Bishop Guido Gallese, Bishop of Alessandria from Italy. It was a wonderful occasion where we actually received acknowledgement from the Vatican for this place of Medjugorje and all the pilgrims who come here. We are very happy that the Archbishop is resident here and is going to help with the running of the Parish of Medjugorje. The 25th of July is the Feast Day of St. James. He is the Patron Saint of Medjugorje, the patron of pilgrims, and the statue that we have here depicts him as a pilgrim, with his walking staff and his small water vessel, and his seashell. Those are all signs of a pilgrim. This year the people of Medjugorje went on a procession to the garden with the ruins of the old church, where there is an outside altar. There was a procession with the statue of St. James, which was followed by local people in traditional dress, and many priests concelebrated the mass. At the end of this Mass, the Archbishop addressed the people of Medjugorje. He said, “We have a great responsibility towards the whole world, because truly Medjugorje has become a place of prayer and conversion for the whole world. Accordingly, the Holy Father is concerned and sends me here to help the Franciscan priests to organize and to acknowledge this place as a source of grace for the whole world.” These were remarkably positive words from the Archbishop. And so we are all really happy about this appointment for the sake of the parish and for the devotion, Our Lady, Queen of Peace. On the 25th of every month, the visionary, Marija, from Medjugorje has a message for the world, and this month and every month, after we receive this message there is all night Adoration in the church of St. James. It is a way to meditate on the words of Our Lady and to adore her Son, Jesus. So if you come here, and maybe you have come from a country far away and you have jet lag, you can come here and spend that night in prayer. That is why I am calling you to pray to Him and to trust in Him, because He is your refuge from every evil that lurks and carries souls far from the grace and joy to which you are all called. Little children, live Heaven here on earth so that it will be good for you; and may the commandments of God be a light on your way. I am with you and I love you all with my motherly love. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (July 25, 2018) “Dear children! God called me to lead you to Him because He is your strength.” In the Psalms there are many references to God as our strength, our refuge, our protector, our shield. Clearly the psalmists had had experiences of the strength and protection of the Lord, for they sang about it many times. Here are four selections from the Psalms that extol the Lord for being the strength and safety of His people. We can pray these Psalms with the same conviction. The Lord is our strength! He is our salvation! Psalm 18 I love thee, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. (Ps 18:1-3) Psalm 28 Blessed be the LORD! for he has heard the voice of my supplications. The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts; so I am helped, and my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. The LORD is the strength of his people, he is the saving refuge of his anointed. O save thy people, and bless thy heritage; be thou their shepherd, and carry them for ever. (Ps 28:6-9) Psalm 3 O LORD, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me; many are saying of me, there is no help for him in God. [Selah] But thou, O LORD, art a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. I cry aloud to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy hill. [Selah] I lie down and sleep; I wake again, for the LORD sustains me. I am not afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me round about. Arise, O LORD! Deliver me, O my God!
