Also today, with great joy in my heart, I call you to conversion. Little children, do not forget that you are all important in this great plan, which God leads through Medjugorje. God desires to convert the entire world and to call it to salvation and to the way towards Himself, who is the beginning and the end of every being. In a special way, little children, from the depth of my heart, I call you all to open yourselves to this great grace that God gives you through my presence here. I desire to thank each of you for the sacrifices and prayers. I am with you and I bless you all. Thank you for having responded to my call.” We find ourselves now at the 37th anniversary of Our Lady’s coming to Medjugorje. It is hard to take in the reality of all Our Lady has done and is doing, here in this place, this little village in Bosnia-Hercegovina. Who would have guessed back in 1981 that Our Lady would appear for so long a time, and bring with her such abundant graces for her children! She has touched millions of souls, indeed millions, and all of them, one by one. She encounters each person who comes here with her undivided attention and deep motherly love. Her plan is to change the world, one person at a time! March 25, 2003 “Dear children! Also today I call you to pray for peace. Pray with the heart, little children, and do not lose hope because God loves His creatures. He desires to save you, one by one, through my coming here. I call you to the way of holiness. Pray, and in prayer you are open to God’s will; in this way, in everything you do, you realize God’s plan in you and through you. Thank you for having responded to my call.” God’s plan! We are being invited to discover God’s plan for us. This plan is the Way to Life! His plan for each of us also is woven into a vast plan for the salvation of the world! Our Lady told us in her first monthly message about our role in God’s plan: January 25, 1987 The first apparition of the 25th of the month, given to Marija, for the parish: “Today I want to appeal to all of you to start living a new life from this day on. Dear children, I wish that you would understand that God has chosen each one of you to have a part in the great plan for the salvation of mankind. You cannot fully understand how great your role is in God’s design. For that reason, pray, dear children, so that through prayer, you may be able to know your role in God’s plan. I am with you, so that you may be able to realize it fully.”   So you see, Our Lady has come first of all for each one of us, to save us and heal us, but simultaneously she has come to change the world, by leading each of us into a great plan of salvation for the world. She can do this because she is completely submitted to the will of God. This is a wondrous miracle of love being enacted in our day!! Now we say, “Happy Anniversary, Dearest Mother! Thank you for coming to Medjugorje! Thank you for bringing to us the plan of God for each of us individually, and for all of us together. We say ‘Yes’ to you and to all you ask of us! (c) Mateo Ivankovic 2016 J.M.J. June 23, 2018 37th Anniversary Novena – Day Nine Dear Family of Mary! In Fatima Our Lady promised that “in the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph”. In Medjugorje she has told us “I invite you to self-renunciation for nine days so that, with your help, everything that I desire to realize through the secrets I began in Fatima, may be fulfilled” (August 25, 1991). The Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is our hope in these dark days. As we reflect on Our Lady’s coming in Medjugorje, this Triumph gives us a hope for the future. We also are being invited to be part of that Triumph, through our response to her call: “Dear children! Today in a special way I invite you all to prayer and renunciation. For now as never before satan wants to show the world his shameful face by which he wants to seduce as many people as possible onto the way of death and sin. Therefore, dear children, help my Immaculate Heart to triumph in the sinful world. I beseech all of you to offer prayers and sacrifices for my intentions so I can present them to God for what is most necessary. Forget your desires, dear children, and pray for what God desires, and not for what you desire. Thank you for having responded to my call.”(September 25, 1991) May we respond with all our hearts to Our Lady’s plea! Let us pray: The Annunciation “Dear children! Also in this difficult time God’s love sends me to you. My children, do not be afraid, I am with you. With complete trust give me your hearts that I may help you to recognize the signs of the time in which you live. I will help you to come to know the love of my Son. I will triumph through you. Thank you.”(June 2, 2007) The Visitation “Dear children; Today I call you to a humble, my children, humble devotion. Your hearts need to be just. May your crosses be your means in the battle against the sins of the present time. May your weapon be patience and boundless love, a love that knows to wait and which will make you capable of recognizing God’s signs, that your life, by humble love, may show the truth to all those who seek it in the darkness of lies. My children, my apostles, help me to open the paths to my Son. Once again I call you to pray for your shepherds. Alongside them, I will triumph. Thank you.”(October 2, 2010) The Birth of Jesus “Dear children! I come to you as a Mother with gifts. I come with love and mercy. Dear children, mine is a big heart. In it, I desire all of your hearts, purified by fasting and prayer. I desire that, through love, our hearts may triumph together. I desire that through that triumph you may see the real Truth, the real Way and the real Life. I desire that you may see my Son. Thank you.”(March 18, 2007) The Presentation “Dear children, Today, with my motherly heart, I call you gathered around me to love your neighbor. My children, stop. Look in the eyes of your brother and see Jesus, my Son. If you see joy, rejoice with him. If there is pain in the eyes of your brother, with your tenderness and goodness, cast it away, because without love you are lost. Only love is effective; it works miracles. Love will give you unity in my Son and the victory of my heart. Therefore, my children, love.”(September 2, 2008) The Finding in the Temple “Dear children! I desire to share my joy with you. In my Immaculate Heart I feel that there are many of those who have drawn closer to me and are, in a special way, carrying the victory of my Immaculate Heart in their hearts by praying and converting. I desire to thank you and to inspire you to work even more for God and His kingdom with love and the power of the Holy Spirit. I am with you and I bless you with my motherly blessing. Thank you for having responded to my call.”(August 25, 2000) Dear Mother Mary, we gather together to pray this novena, with deep gratitude for your presence in our midst. You have come to show us the way to heaven. The Heavenly Father has sent you to us to help us to repent and return to Him. You are coming to be the bond between us and the Heavenly Father, and to help us to love and serve His Son. You pray with us for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, because you have told us that when we have the Holy Spirit, we have everything. Therefore we ask that during this Novena you will help us to bond with you and through you with our Triune God who loves us so much. When anyone is before you, and asks you something, you will give it to him. I am before so many hearts, but they remain closed. Pray so that the world receives my love.” (June 21, 1984 Jelena) Our Lady has come to give us her love. Let me share the witness of Musician Dorijan Skrobonja, posted on the parish website (http://www.medjugorje.hr/en/news/the-experience-of-one-medjugorje-pilgrim,6888.html ) : “The special encounter with Medjugorje took place four years ago, when I came on a pilgrimage with my family. We always came here to give thanks to God and to receive blessings. I never thought that anything special should happen to me, but that was exactly what happened. My wife and I were going to the church, to pray there. I knelt and I began to pray. Suddenly, I felt warmth, love and gentleness that were being poured on me. It was in that moment that Mother conveyed a message to me: “Don’t you know how much I love you; why do you still question my love?” I began to cry because of fear and embarrassment; I could feel how small my faith was. All of my worries, all of my burdens were released, I felt completely free, as if I was in the world of complete and utter love, warmth and tenderness. I felt ashamed to cry and I could feel people staring at me. My wife could see that something extraordinary was taking place. It was that same night that I wrote the poem to Our Lady: ‘Tonight I stood beneath Thee, o Mother, I stood beneath Thee, Pure Tenderness’,” said Dorijan, who is a member of Aledory band together with his brother and they witness their faith with the music. “We are trying to live the messages of the Queen of Peace. Sometimes we are able to do that, sometimes we fail. I regret for not having been able to come to Medjugorje more often.” This is a beautiful description of what it is like to encounter the love of Our Mother, Mary. She is waiting to pour out her love on all of us. We have only to ask! Let us pray! The Annunciation “Dear children! Today I wish to give you my own love. You do not know, dear children, how great my love is, and you do not know how to accept it. In various ways I wish to show it to you, but you, dear children, do not recognize it. You do not understand my words with your heart and neither are you able to comprehend my love. Dear children, accept me in your life and so you will be able to accept all I am saying to you and to which I am calling you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”(May 22, 1986) The Visitation “Dear children! With joy in the heart I love you all and call you to draw closer to my Immaculate Heart so I can draw you still closer to my Son Jesus, and that He can give you His peace and love, which are nourishment for each one of you. Open yourselves, little children, to prayer – open yourselves to my love. I am your mother and cannot leave you alone in wandering and sin. You are called, little children, to be my children, my beloved children, so I can present you all to my Son. Thank you for having responded to my call.”(June 25, 2013) The Birth of Jesus “Dear children, I am coming to you as a mother and I desire that in me, as in a mother, you may find your abode, consolation and rest. Therefore, my children, apostles of my love, pray. Pray with humble devotion, obedience and complete trust in the Heavenly Father. Trust as I have trusted when it was said to me that I will bring the blessing of the promise. May out of your hearts, from your lips, always come forth ‘May your will be done!’ Therefore, trust and pray so that I can intercede for you before the Lord, for him to give you the Heavenly Blessing and fill you with the Holy Spirit. Then he will be able to help all those who do not know the Lord – you, apostles of my love, will help them to call him ‘Father’ with complete trust. Pray for your shepherds and place your trust in their blessed hands. Thank you.”(March 02, 2014) The Presentation “Dear children! I am here, I am among you. I am looking at you, am smiling at you and I love you in the way that only a mother can. Through the Holy Spirit who comes through my purity, I see your hearts and I offer them to my Son. Already for a long time I have been asking of you to be my apostles, to pray for those who have not come to know God’s love. I am asking for prayer said out of love, prayer which carries out works and sacrifices. Do not waste time thinking about whether you are worthy to be my apostles. The Heavenly Father will judge everyone; and you, love Him and listen to Him. I know that all of this confuses you, even my very stay among you, but accept it with joy and pray that you may comprehend that you are worthy to work for Heaven. My love is upon you. Pray that my love may win in all hearts, because that is the love which forgives, gives and never stops. Thank you.”(February 02, 2015) The Finding in the Temple “Dear children! As a mother, I desire to be of help to you. With my motherly love, I desire to help you to open your heart and to put my Son in the first place in it. Through your love for my Son and through your prayer, I desire for God’s light to illuminate you and God’s mercy to fill you. In this way, I desire for the darkness, and the shadow of death which wants to encompass and mislead you, to be driven away. I desire for you to feel the joy of the blessing of God’s promise. You, children of man, you are God’s children – you are my children. Therefore, my children, set out on the ways on which my love leads you, teaches you humility and wisdom, and finds the way to the Heavenly Father. Pray with me for those who do not accept me and do not follow me – those who, because of hardness of their hearts, cannot feel the joy of humility, devotion, peace and love – the joy of my Son. Our Lady has been coming to us for 37 years, injecting into our tired and discouraged world the gift of Divine Hope. God has sent her to be a light in the darkness of sin and faithlessness. Now we are asked to carry that hope into our own spheres of influence. Hope is like fresh air, it revives our spirits. May we receive the hope Our Lady brings and give it to others: “Dear children! Today I call you to renew prayer and fasting with even greater enthusiasm until prayer becomes a joy for you. Little children, the one who prays is not afraid of the future and the one who fasts is not afraid of evil. Once again, I repeat to you: only through prayer and fasting also wars can be stopped – wars of your unbelief and fear for the future. I am with you and am teaching you little children: your peace and hope are in God. That is why draw closer to God and put Him in the first place in your life. Thank you for having responded to my call.“(January 25, 2001) Let us pray: The Annunciation “Dear children! Also today I call you to pray for peace. Do not shut your eyes to the warnings which the Heavenly Father sends to you out of love. Do you love Him above all else? Do you repent for having often forgotten that the Heavenly Father, out of His great love, sent his Son to redeem us by the Cross? Do you repent for not yet having accepted the message? My children, do not resist the love of my Son. Do not resist hope and peace. Along with your prayer and fasting, by His cross, my Son will cast away the darkness that wants to surround you and come to rule over you. He will give you the strength for a new life. Living it according to my Son, you will be a blessing and a hope to all those sinners who wander in the darkness of sin. My children, keep vigil. I, as a mother, am keeping vigil with you. I am especially praying and watching over those whom my Son called to be light-bearers and carriers of hope for you – for your shepherds. Thank you.” (March 02, 2013) The Finding in the Temple “Dear children, Remember – for I am telling you – that love will win. I know that many of you are losing hope because around you, you see suffering, pain, jealousy, envy… but, I am your mother. I am in the Kingdom but am also here with you. My Son is sending me anew to help you. Therefore, do not lose hope; instead, follow me – because the victory of my heart is in the name of God. My beloved Son is thinking of you as he has always thought of you. Believe him and live him. He is the life of the world. My children, to live my Son means to live the Gospel. This is not easy. This means love, forgiveness and sacrifice. This purifies and it opens the Kingdom. Sincere prayer, which is not only words but is a prayer which the heart speaks, will help you. Likewise fasting (will help you), because it is still more of love, forgiveness and sacrifice. Therefore, do not lose hope but follow me. I am imploring you anew to pray for your shepherds so that they may always look to my Son who was the first Shepherd of the world and whose family was the entire world.”(December 02, 2014) Dear Mother Mary, we gather together to pray this novena, with deep gratitude for your presence in our midst. (c) Mary TV 2016 J.M.J. June 20, 2018 37th Anniversary Novena – Day 6 Dear Family of Mary! Today we reflect on the great joy that Our Lady brings to us in Medjugorje. Pilgrims experience this joy during their stay in Medjugorje. It is a joy that cannot be manufactured. No rock concert or baseball game can give this kind of joy. It is a joy that wells up from within. It is triggered by even the smallest thing, like a beautiful sunset or a tiny flower. It is the joy of being with God. Our Lady said to us: “Dear children! I invite you now to be open to God. See, children, how nature is opening herself and is giving life and fruits. In the same way I invite you to live with God and to surrender completely to him. Children, I am with you and I want to introduce you continuously to the joy of life. I desire that everyone may discover the joy and love which can be found only in God and which only God can give. God doesn’t want anything from you only your surrender. Therefore, children, decide seriously for God because everything else passes away. Only God doesn’t pass away. Pray to be able to discover the greatness and joy of life which God gives you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”(May 25, 1989) This joy “can be found only in God”. And it is available to us as we respond to Our Lady’s call, and live her messages. Today let’s give thanks for this great joy which comes from God! The Annunciation “Dear children! I desire to share my joy with you. In my Immaculate Heart I feel that there are many of those who have drawn closer to me and are, in a special way, carrying the victory of my Immaculate Heart in their hearts by praying and converting. Give Him time and He will give Himself to you and thus, in the will of God you will discover the love and the joy of living. My heart is joyful watching the love and joy in the living of my messages. Many of you have responded, but I wait for, and seek, all the hearts that have fallen asleep to awaken from the sleep of unbelief. Little children, draw even closer to my Immaculate Heart so that I can lead all of you toward eternity. Thank you for having responded to my call.”(June 25, 2011) The Presentation “Dear children! Also today I call you to conversion and to holiness. God desires to give you joy and peace through prayer but you, little children, are still far away – attached to the earth and to earthly things. Therefore, I call you anew: open your heart and your sight towards God and the things of God – and joy and peace will come to reign in your hearts. Also today I call you to also be like the stars, which by their light give light and beauty to others so they may rejoice. Little children, also you be the radiance, beauty, joy and peace – and especially prayer – for all those who are far from my love and the love of my Son Jesus. Little children, witness your faith and prayer in joy, in the joy of faith that is in your hearts; and pray for peace, which is a precious gift from God. I want you to surrender your hearts to me so that I may take you on the way, which leads to the light and to eternal life. I do not want your hearts to wander in today’s darkness. I will help you. I will be with you on this way of discovery of the love and the mercy of God. As a mother, I ask you to permit me to do this. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (March 18, 1999 Mirjana) Today is Day Five of our Novena for the 37th Anniversary of Our Lady’s coming to Medjugorje. As we see in this message from March 18, 1999, Our Lady speaks of surrender. She longs that we surrender our hearts, our very lives into her hands. What does surrender mean? In the Oxford English Dictionary one of the meanings of surrender is “To abandon oneself entirely to…” This means to let go control of my life, and place it entirely in another’s hands. It is an act of utter trust. It is the kind of abandonment that a baby has in his mother’s arms, a trust that is complete. There is no fear or worry involved, only a trusting repose. To abandon oneself entirely to another means to place all one’s hope and trust in that person, knowing that it is the best possible thing to do. To abandon oneself entirely to Our Lady and thus to Jesus, is truly the best thing we can do for ourselves. This is total consecration! Our Lady asks us surrender ourselves to her and through her to God. She says that she needs this surrender in order to work in us and through us. Today we will meditate on surrender, in the words of Our Lady! The Annunciation “Dear children! Today also I call each one of you to decide to surrender again everything completely to me. Only that way will I be able to present each of you to God. Dear children, you know that I love you immeasurably and that I desire each of you for myself, but God has given to all a freedom which I lovingly respect and humbly submit to. I desire, dear children that you help so that everything God has planned in this parish shall be realized. If you do not pray, you shall not be able to recognize my love and the plans which God has for this parish and for each individual. Pray that Satan does not entice you with his pride and deceptive strength. I am with you and I want you to believe me, that I love you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”(November 25, 1987) The Visitation “Dear children! Today also I am inviting you to a complete surrender to God. Dear children, you are not conscious of how God loves you with such a great love because He permits me to be with you so I can instruct you and help you to find the way of peace. This way, however, you cannot discover if you do not pray. Therefore, dear children, forsake everything and consecrate your time to God and God will bestow gifts upon you and bless you. Little children, don’t forget that your life is fleeting like a spring flower which today is wondrously beautiful but tomorrow has vanished. Therefore, pray in such a way that your prayer, your surrender to God, may become like a road sign. That way, your witness will not only have value for yourselves but for all eternity. Thank you for having responded to my call.”(March 25, 1988) The Birth of Jesus “Dear children! I am inviting you to a complete surrender to God. Pray, little children, that Satan may not carry you about like the branches in the wind. Be strong in God. I desire that through you the whole world may get to know the God of joy. By your life bear witness for God’s joy. Do not be anxious nor worried. God himself will help you and show you the way. I desire that you love all men with my love. Only in that way can love reign over the world. Little children, you are mine. I love you and want you to surrender to me so that I can lead you to God. I will be with you and will teach you how to put Jesus in the first place. I will teach you to love Him and to belong to Him completely. Comprehend, dear children that without my Son there is no salvation. You should become aware that He is your beginning and your end. Only with this awareness can you be happy and merit eternal life. As your mother, I desire this for you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”(March 18 2002 – Mirjana) It seems that one of the prerequisites to Our Lady’s school of holiness, one of the underlying predispositions we need to have is an “open heart”. Our Lady has mentioned the need for an open heart at least 70 times in her messages. She not only suggests that we open our hearts, she implores us, begs us, and prays for us to have open hearts. Why is an open heart so important and what does it mean? I think an open heart means that we let Our Lady into our inner self. We invite her into our heart where our deepest secrets, wounds, desires and hopes are found. It means that we invite her into our inner room where we pray, where we love, where we choose. We do not hide ourselves from her. And we do not put on a show for her, we are honest and straight-forward with her about everything. The same goes for Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit. We open our heart to them, that they may have free access to our inner self. Why is it important? Because it is only with an open heart that we can make contact with God and Mother Mary, and receive all the graces we need to be saved. We must open our hearts, no one can do it for us. It is our fundamental choice to believe in God and love Him. When we open our heart we choose to convert, turn to the Lord and trust Him. We choose to follow Our Lady who is leading us to God. Medjugorje is the place where hearts open! May we be those open hearts!! The Annunciation “Dear children, By God’s will I am here with you in this place. I desire that you open your hearts to me and to accept me as a mother. With my love I will teach you simplicity of life and richness of mercy and I will lead you to my Son. The way to Him can be difficult and painful but do not be afraid, I will be with you. A Still Small Voice June 15, 2018 A message from Our Lady – Ivan’s prayer group Dear Family of Mary! On Friday, June 15, Our Lady came to Ivan’s prayer group on Apparition Hill, at approximately 10:00 pm.  Ivan shared a beautiful message she gave us through him, and his experience of the apparition.  Here are his words after the apparition: “Dear Children! Also today in a special way  I desire to call you to the Eucharist.  May the Mass be the center of your lives.  In a special way dear children, may the Eucharist be in your families.  The family must live Holy Mass to give glory to Jesus.  Jesus must be the center of your lives.  Therefore pray, dear children,  pray family prayer and set out after Jesus.  Thank you dear children also today for having responded to my call.” Our Lady came to us also today, joyful and happy!, She greeted all of us with her motherly greeting, “Praised be Jesus my dear children!” Then with her arms extended she for a longer time prayed over all of us, especially the sick.  She gave us her motherly blessing and after that I recommended all of you, your intentions, your families, especially the sick.  Then, Our Lady left in prayer, in an illuminated sign of the light and the cross with the words, “Go in Peace, my dear children.”  In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! This is why, angels, pray, pray, pray, so that my plan may be realized. Receive my motherly blessing!”(June 25, 2001 Ivanka) Our Lady has made it clear in her messages that her coming to Medjugorje involves a specific plan from the Heavenly Father, a plan for the salvation of the world in these days. She has mentioned her plan many times. Three things stand out about this plan: 1. It is a plan for the salvation of the Church and the world, and involves the Parish of Medjugorje and the pilgrims who are responding to her call. 2. Satan opposes this plan with great power and deep animosity. He is working tirelessly to destroy this plan. 3. The plan is dependent upon the response of Our Lady’s children. Through our personal conversion, prayer, fasting, adherence to the Sacraments, and our witness to the truth, Our Lady’s plan will prosper. Today let us pray to understand and live this plan that God has given to Our Lady for the sake of souls. Our “yes” is part of that beautiful plan for the good of all.
