Happy Birthday, Dearest Mother Mary!

(c)Mary TV/Anthony ZubacOn August 3, 2019 Our Lady was processed throughout the Youth Festival, honored and loved by all!      August 5, 2019 Day 5 of the 30th Youth Festival in Medjugorje  The actual birthday of Our Lady, as revealed to the visionaries in 1984.   Dear Family of Mary,   The visionaries tell us that Our Lady told them that August 5 is her actual birth date. She told them that on August 5, 1984 it would be her 2000th birthday! She asked them to help her celebrate. But like a good mother, Our Lady didn’t ask for presents for herself. Instead she asked for fasting, prayer, and confession. She wanted the graces of her birthday to flow into the hearts of her children. Here is what she told Jelena Vasilj: To Jelena, after inquiring about August 5th, 1984, if they would be celebrating her two thousandth birthday:       “Throughout the centuries, I have given myself completely to you. Is it too much to give me three days? Do not work on those days. Take your rosaries and pray. Fasting has been forgotten during the last quarter of the century, within the Catholic Church.” And in preparation, she said to the visionaries:    “The priest who will hear confession will have great joy on that day.”   During these 3 days of fasting and continuous prayer the visionaries say the Blessed Virgin was very Joyful. Our Lady repeated:  “I am very happy; continue, continue! Continue to pray and to fast.” Then, on the day of her birthday we were told this:   Sunday, August 5, 1984The celebration of the second millennium of Mary’s birthday was preceded by three days of fasting and continuous prayer. Seventy priests heard confessions without rest; there were a great number of conversions.  And Our Lady said: “Never in my life have I cried with sorrow, as I have cried this evening with joy. Thank you!” Her joy seemed to have reached a peak Sunday, August 5th. Like a flower when it blooms, and full of joy, Our Lady said:   “Continue, continue, open your hearts, ask God and I will ask for you.”   It was reported that many conversions happened that day, and that people driving near Medjugorje were mysteriously drawn to the village, where they went to confession and had dramatic conversions. The priests were exhausted from hearing confessions!   Ever since that day, many have observed August 5 as a special day of prayer and celebration. Each year Marija Pavlovic and her family and friends pray and fast, and prepare to greet Our Lady with joy.  Here is what Marija said on August 5, 2014:   Today is a special day. Today is the feast of Our Lady’s birthday. Our Lady always comes in a golden dress, because it is her feast! And we are preparing many flowers, roses! And we are praying a novena, and we are offering tonight for some hours, all our little sacrifices to Our Lady, flowers, fasting, praying our novena!   In a special way today (August 5) Our Lady always comes with big joy! She asks us to be her extended hands for everyone who does not believe and who does not pray. So in a special way I call all of you to be in union with us in prayer. I will pray for all of you, for all your intentions, for all that is in your heart, and in a special way for all the sick people, all non-believers, all the elderly and all who do not have the possibility to come to Medjugorje. So you will all be in my prayer, and I call all of you to be in union with us, with Our Lady tonight! God bless you all!   I am sure that Marija is continuing this tradition this year as well. We can all join her in making little sacrifices and praying today in a special way for Our Lady’s intentions. Who knows, we may all see some dramatic conversions today. The Father cannot refuse Mary on her birthday! He will grant all her requests, ours included!   Happy Birthday, dearest Mother Mary! We love you intensely!   In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! An introduction to Medjugorje by the Apostolic Visitor

Archbishop Henryk Hoser at the opening Mass of the Youth Festival (c)Mary TV/Anthony Zubac     August 3, 2019  First Saturday  Day 3, Youth Festival in Medjugorje Dear Family of Mary, We find ourselves already on Day 3 of the 30th Youth Festival in Medjugorje.  Already so much grace has fallen upon us all.  The candle light veneration of the Holy Cross last night was so moving.  So many little lights, joining together to make a bright light for God.  It is a good image for our Christian lives.  We each must live our faith with courage and hope, and together our lives will make a bright light for the world!  Here is a shot of the festival during the candle light veneration of the Cross!!  Wow!! Here is the Schedule for today:  Saturday, August 3rd, 2019.  09.00 Prayer, Catechesis, Testimonies   12.00 The AngelusRecess16.00 Testimonies18.00 Rosary19.00 Holy Mass20.30 – 21.30 Procession with Our Lady’s statueAdoration of the Blessed Sacrament I also was able to transcribe the opening remarks of Archbishop Henryk Hoser, during the press conference on Thursday evening before the first session of the Youth Festival.  He spoke beautifully of the grace of Medjugorje, a place of peace and prayer.  Here is my transcription.  (Remember that the Archbishop spoke in Italian, was translated into Croatian, and then into English!!)  Archbishop Henryk Hoser – Press Conference in Medjugorje – August 1, 2019 Ladies and Gentlemen, Good evening! We are gathered in this very important moment to speak of the event that has a wide and important meaning. Throughout the year in the life of Medjugorje, the Youth Festival has the most important place. Why is it important? Because it gathers the biggest number of pilgrims. And it is important because these pilgrims are young. And they are our future, the future of our world, of a better world. The young people are our hope. This year we celebrate the 30th Youth festival. This encounter is important because this encounter is putting into service the abilities of all who work here. And this role of the media is important because it will pass on the message of Medjugorje. What is Medjugorje. Medjugorje is one simple parish. There is no other title for Medjugorje. It is not a shrine or a basilica. It is a parish that is open to all the parishioners who live here, and it affects all the other parishes here and around the world. During the whole year pilgrims are coming from the whole world, and today they are coming from at least 80 countries. From the material point of view, Medjugorje is nothing special. Medjugorje is offering a completely natural landscape. And what happens is that pilgrims are gathering from all over the world. They carry all different situations. But here they find communion. Here we discover that we are all sons and daughters of one Father. We discover that we are all sons and daughters of one Mother. We are all here under the influence of the Holy Spirit. And this phenomenon we will see during this youth festival. People who come here, especially young people, discover one dimension of life that was hidden. It is the spiritual dimension of life. This is the most important dimension of human life. It is the dimension that creates. The spiritual dimension we call the vertical dimension. And this is what the two hills show, Apparition Hill and Cross Mountain. For you to feel these mountains, you must climb. And all those who are at the base of the mountain get up and climb. For Medjugorje, two things are necessary. Time. It takes time, at least one week to be here. It also takes place. Here in Medjugorje we have three places. The first place is the Church. Second is Cross Mountain. Cross Mountain which was consecrated to Christ the Redeemer. The Third is Apparition Hill. It is the place of our Lady. The First sign is the church. A few days ago, we celebrated the feast day of St. James, the patron of Medjugorje. The parish, established in 1892, was consecrated to the Patron Saint James, the Patron Saint of pilgrims. Just like pilgrims go to Saint James of Compostela, pilgrims now come to St. James of Medjugorje. The second sign here is Cross Mountain. No one knew its future meaning. The Cross was erected in 1933, the Jubilee Year of the Death of Christ. And the third sign is Apparition Hill where Our Lady came – This is the Holy Triangle of Medjugorje. Also, another sign is the new church which was consecrated in 1969. At that time, it was too big. Too big for the population that lived here at that time, because it was a small village. Now this has become the world’s parish, and that church is too small for everyone. The phenomenon of Medjugorje has held for over 38 years. In these 38 years what has been created is something offered to pilgrims, something most precious. What was created were the paths where we climb Apparition Hill and we meditate on the mysteries of the Rosary. And on Cross Mountain, we pray the way of the Cross. And during these 38 years, we worked on the canon of Medjugorje, the Liturgy and para-liturgy that happens around the church. Medjugorje has a weekly program. We need to spend at least one week here, because what is offered is very different. Catechesis is offered and Holy Mass in many languages. Pilgrims have the possibility to participate in Spiritual retreats and conferences. And what is so special in Medjugorje are the seminars on fasting and prayer in silence. And so, for one week the pilgrims participate in prayer, are fed on the Word of God and in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament as they live on bread and water. Seminars on fasting and prayer are offered to saturate us with all that is offered here. We spend too much in this society and produce loads of garbage because of Consumerism. And this experience of fasting offers us physical freedom in order to open up space for the spiritual. We also have the prayer program in the evening. To keep us centered on God, we pray the Rosary and then Holy Mass and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament each day. The phenomenon of Medjugorje is also that we have confession. You could say that Medjugorje has become the confessional of the world. Here we confess in all languages. You know that in some of the countries personal confession has vanished. It doesn’t exist anymore. People here discover the Sacrament of God’s Mercy. What is the Sacrament of Reconciliation? What is the Sacrament that gives us peace in our hearts? There are so many confessions. Confessions of pure conversion that take place here. They are numerous. When it comes to conversions, we calculate that during the duration of the phenomenon of Medjugorje, there have been about 800 priestly and religious vocations. All of this I present to you is attracting many. All parishioners who live here feel responsible to accept all the pilgrims in a normal brotherly love. Everyone here feels well. So, I greet all the journalists, who came for the festival so you will hear, see and witness the miracles that take place here. I hope you would see it. There is a great preparation, also the music which will be like a symphony, with an International choir. Beautiful singers!! To organize this event, and to accept all pilgrims is possible only through all the lay people who work here in this parish. Also, we have young people from the parish. They have T shirts, blue. Have a good time during your stay in Medjugorje.  (Archbishop Hoser speaking about Medjugorje)  Let’s give thanks for the Apostolic Visitor who is taking such good care of us all in Medjugorje!!  In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!Cathy Nolan ©MaryTV 2019

August 2, 2019 – Message from Our Lady of Medjugorje

Dear children! Great is the love of my Son. If you were to come to know the greatness of His love, you would never cease to adore and thank Him. He is always alive with you in the Eucharist, because the Eucharist is His Heart. The Eucharist is the heart of faith. He has never left you. Even when you tried to go away from Him, He has not [left] you. That is why my motherly heart is happy when I watch how you-filled with love-return to Him, when I see that you are coming to Him by the way of reconciliation, love, and hope. My motherly heart knows that when you set out on the way of faith, you are shoots-buds. But along with prayer and fasting you will be fruits, my flowers, apostles of my love; you will be carriers of light and will illuminate all those around you with love and wisdom. My children, as a mother I am imploring you: pray, think, and contemplate. Everything beautiful, painful and joyful that happens to you-all of this makes you grow spiritually, so that my Son may grow in you. My children, surrender yourselves to Him, believe Him, trust in His love, let Him lead you. Let the Eucharist be the place where you will feed your souls, and afterwards, will spread love and truth-will bear witness to my Son. Thank you. (August 2, 2019)

The Tent of Meeting!

(c)Mary TV/Anthony Zubac     July 31, 2019St. Ignatius of Loyola Dear Family of Mary! Yesterday, the first reading at Holy Mass was from Exodus 33 and 34, about Moses meeting with the Lord in the Tent of Meeting which was pitched outside of the camp. The Israelites had sinned and so the Lord no longer would come into their midst but would appear to Moses in the Tent outside of the camp. This was a significant change in God’s relationship to His people. Fr. John Kane gave a beautiful homily on this reading from Exodus, that I have transcribed. I think it will be a blessing for us all. You can also go to our English Mass Archives to listen to the homily yourselves, July 30, 2019. Here is the transcribed homily of Fr. John Kane, given in Medjugorje at English Mass on July 30, 2019:   I was listening to the first reading and I suppose there was an element of sadness thinking perhaps why was it that the Tent of meeting was outside the camp? That Moses had to leave the people of Israel, God’s chosen ones ultimately, and yet to come out in order to speak to the Lord while all the people would stand or bow down at the entrance of their homes. And they would have to wait then for Moses to come back. He was like that mediator between God and His people. But we know from this Exodus story that something terrible did happen. Because you know it wasn’t God’s plan that the Tent would be outside the camp. God’s plan was that for God’s people in every home there would be a Tent of meeting. In every home there would be a priest that would offer that sacrifice of praise to God on behalf of his people. But we know from this Exodus story something terrible did happen. You remember the Golden Calf? Remember that story? Moses was up the mountain with the Lord and the Ten Commandments were being offered. And he was coming down off the mountain and he saw the apostasy. The people had returned to their pagan practices from Egypt. So quickly. So easily they fell back into their idolatry. And there was the Golden Calf before them all. Immediately, what happens when we turn from God. We separate ourselves from His blessing, from His grace, from His presence, from His Tent. And so there must be this separation between God and us. And that is ultimately what happened in the desert with God’s chosen people. And what ultimately happened is that God had to make a concessionary plan where he would have to compromise with that original plan that He desired. And I think that is what God has done right throughout our salvation history. He has compromised with us. He has put up with us, because maybe He knows that we are all tainted by original sin. We are incapable of true worship by our own means. That there is a need for someone to intercede on our behalf to make up for all that is lacking within us. How wonderful the mercy of God is! How wonderful God is that even though we are all sinners that God would make up for it all. I’m just thinking of the first time I came here, oh a long time ago. How separated I really was from the Lord. I had no interest or desire to pray. I did everything instead of turning up here for Mass. All my intentions were self-centered. It was all about me. I thought I had it all figured out. I was looking at all of you guys and thinking, “Oh they haven’t got a clue.” Isn’t it terrible how we can be so critical? And yet, God is so good. So merciful! It is as if He knew ahead. He could see ahead of all that pride and selfishness and ego, and He said, “Don’t worry, John, you will come to me eventually. I will break into your heart. I will reveal myself in the midst of your pain and suffering, in the midst of your ego-centered, self-centered way. Because I have a plan for you. A plan for peace and prosperity as our Scripture reminds us. And He did, He brought me up that mountain. I don’t know how I ended up there. And Vicka was having an apparition. It was earlier on, it wouldn’t be a frequent now. And I saw this girl go into her ecstasy. And I actually didn’t know what was happening at that moment. I had to ask the tour guide what was going on. He said, “Our Lady is here.” I think I turned to him and said, “Who?” So, for 10 minutes or so I had to witness this phenomenon of an apparition. This miracle of God, in which He would break into our existence. To reveal His Blessed Mother and the True God who is for us. And you know I came down that mountain and all I recall that in my heart all I felt was that I wanted to go home. I wanted to go home and tell my mother that my brother was ok. Because my brother had died, you see, six months previous through cancer. So, there was a great pain inside me, a great grief. Suffering and unanswered questions. It was all so painful. It was deep and I was trying to hide it, maybe. I couldn’t hide my joy coming down that mountain. A joy that has never left me in 25 years, maybe. And that’s the gift of God. You see, the truth of God is this, that God loves me first. God loves all of us first. He takes the initiative. Otherwise we would have no need of Him. Grace is primary. Without it we would not exist. And so, God in His mercy touched my broken, wounded heart. Just as Moses interceded and heard the cry of his people, that’s what happens for all of us. Cry out to God. He is only waiting, waiting to break in and do something for us. And you know, he did it for the people. Ultimately His plan would be fulfilled, even with all the compromises through history. Because He sent Jesus to make up for everything. You see, Jesus became the tent of meeting. He is the Temple. And He entered and came among us. It is like He returned to the camp. Because He sat with the sinners. He came to the tax collectors, the sinners, the poor, the lame, the weak. You see, that is what we are. We are all broken and wounded and sinful. And God knowing that by ourselves we were incapable, He went through it all and He entered. “The Word became flesh and He dwelt among us.” And so here we are today in 2019 in Medjugorje, invited to enter the Temple. To enter the Kingdom of God that is among us. And here is the plan of God today.   Because we are all called to become priests. We are all called to imitate Him who is the High Priest. The One who entered the Temple and brought the ultimate sacrifice of Himself. And the great mystery of Church, and that is what we are, God’s body…we are called to share in that prayer, that sacrifice, that offering. Can you see the Mystery that we are all invited to? Called to? Created for? It’s called holiness. Jesus said, “Be holy. Be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect.” But it is not now by our own strength, as we might think (as young Fr. John taught all those years ago). But it is when we learn to surrender our lives to the ultimate strength and rely on God. To humble ourselves before His power and mercy, and say, “Save me, I am a sinner. I need your forgiveness.” Even this morning I was looking for a priest. Isn’t that incredible! To know one’s need for God is the great key that opens the door to that life that God wants for us. The Spirit that He wants to pour into our hearts. But if there is sin, if there is an obstacle to that grace, then we are incapable. We will remain outside the Tent. That separation between us and God remains. Let’s not let these days go to waste. Let’s strive to encounter that mercy. Maybe we have to go to the mountain first to meet our brokenness. To become weak, so that we will run back down again and cue up for that confession again, and find that priest, and ultimately experience the free gift of God’s mercy. Who only desires to embrace us. Amen.(Homily for English Mass, Medjugorje, July 30,2019 – Fr. John Kane) In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!Cathy Nolan© Mary TV 2019

The Wreath that binds us to God!

(c)Mary TV/Anthony Zubac     July 30, 2019St. Peter Chrysologus Dear Family of Mary! “Dear children! My call for you is prayer. May prayer be a joy for you and a wreath which binds you to God…” (July 25, 2019) When I first read this message, I wondered what Our Lady could mean by “a wreath which binds you to God.” For my English language ears, it seemed a bit odd. So, I did some investigating of the word “wreath” and I looked at some other translations of the message to see what words were used. Here is what I found: Synonyms of the word “wreath”: garland, chaplet, circlet, coronet, crown… They all can mean a circle of woven flowers or leaves into a round adornment. (One could make a wreath out of roses!) But some of these words carry another meaning as well. Chaplet reminds us of the circle of beads that we call the Rosary. And coronet or crown remind us that the Rosary is also associated with the Crown of Our Lady. So, it seems that this wreath alludes to the Rosary, the prayer of the Rosary! Here are some translation versions: Croatian: vijenacFrench:  la couronne  Italian:  una corona German: der Kranz   Spanish: una corona   All of these words refer to a wreath, but some of them carry with them the meaning of a crown. In Italian the Rosary can be called “la Corona del Rosario”. And that is what finally convinced me that Our Lady was referring to the Rosary as the wreath that binds us to God. And isn’t it true! The Rosary is a strong prayer that brings so much peace when we pray it. It is a beautiful prayer that helps us open our hearts to the Holy Spirit. It is a simple prayer that in so many ways draws our hearts away from the complications of our modern world into a relationship of trust and surrender to the God who loves us. The Rosary is a deep prayer, in which we meditate on the mysteries of the life of Jesus. Those mysteries teach us so much about our fallen nature and the price that Jesus had to pay to save us, not to mention the joy of eternal life that awaits us. This wreath of prayer is a stronger bond than any earthly chain. It is made of roses, but those roses form an unbreakable bond with God. May we pray our Rosary with all our hearts, with deep gratitude, because through the Rosary we are bound to God forever in bliss!      “…And to me, my children, give the gift of the rosary, the roses which I love so much. My roses are your prayers pronounced with the heart and not only recited with the lips. My roses are your acts of prayer, faith and love. When my Son was little, he said to me that my children would be numerous and that they would bring me many roses. I did not comprehend Him. Now I know that you are those children who are bringing me roses…” (December 2, 2017) In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!Cathy Nolan©Mary TV 2019

St. Martha , pray for us!

(c)Mary TV/Anthony Zubac     July 29, 2019St. Martha Dear Family of Mary! “Dear children! My call for you is prayer. May prayer be a joy for you and a wreath which binds you to God. Little children, trials will come, and you will not be strong, and sin will reign but, if you are mine, you will win, because your refuge will be the Heart of my Son Jesus. Therefore, little children, return to prayer until prayer becomes life for you in the day and the night. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (July 25, 2019) It seems to me on this beautiful feast of St. Martha, that we can see exactly what Our Lady means in her message of July 25, 2019. Let me share the Gospel story that we all associate with St. Martha: Jesus entered a village where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him. She had a sister named Mary who sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak. Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving? Tell her to help me.” The Lord said to her in reply, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.” (Luke 10: 38-42) Our Lady tells us she is calling us to prayer. “May prayer be a joy for you and a wreath which binds you to God.” In this Gospel we see Mary at Jesus’ feet, unable to pull herself away from His presence. She is in deep prayer. Her soul is completely open to His words. Her heart is responding with love. She has found her refuge in the Heart of Jesus! But Martha has not yet encountered Jesus with her heart. It seems she is only relating to Him in a social way, being a good hostess. In this “work” she is doing, she is experiencing her own weakness. She is burdened with much serving. As Our Lady says in the message, “Trials will come, you will not be strong…” Martha was experiencing her own weakness in the trial of hosting Jesus. She was trying to meet the trial with her own strength. It is never enough. And so Jesus tells Martha: “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.” What is that one thing? It is to realize exactly what Our Lady told us: “your refuge will be the Heart of my Son Jesus.” In our trials and difficulties, we must remember this. Our refuge is in the Heart of Jesus. Yes, we will be weak in the days ahead. Yes, we will fail if we try to overcome our trials by our own strength. But if we run to the Heart of Jesus in prayer, and stay there, we will win! We will succeed in helping Our Lady and Jesus to save souls. St. Martha learned her lessen well. She later professed great faith in Jesus, when he came to raise Lazarus from death. She knew that Jesus was her refuge and stayed within that refuge even in the face of the tragedy of her brother’s death. We too must learn our lessen. We need to do as Our Lady has told us: “Therefore, little children, return to prayer until prayer becomes life for you in the day and the night.” Day and night, we must run to the Heart of Jesus in prayer, to find wisdom, strength, hope, power and love. Saints Martha and Mary, pray for us.  Mother Mary, intercede for us in these days of trial. In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!Cathy Nolan©Mary TV 2019

The July 25, 2019 Message

(c)Mary TV     July 25, 2019St. James, Apostle Dear Family of Mary! Here is the July 25, 2019 Message from Our Lady, Queen of Peace:   “Dear children! My call for you is prayer. May prayer be a joy for you and a wreath which binds you to God. Little children, trials will come and you will not be strong, and sin will reign but, if you are mine, you will win, because your refuge will be the Heart of my Son Jesus. Therefore, little children, return to prayer until prayer becomes life for you in the day and the night. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (July 25, 2019) In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!Cathy Nolan Mary TV 2019
