I want you to surrender your hearts to me so that I may take you on the way, which leads to the light and to eternal life. I do not want your hearts to wander in today’s darkness. I will help you. I will be with you on this way of discovery of the love and the mercy of God. As a mother, I ask you to permit me to do this. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (March 18, 1999 Mirjana) Today is Day Five of our Novena for the 37th Anniversary of Our Lady’s coming to Medjugorje. As we see in this message from March 18, 1999, Our Lady speaks of surrender. She longs that we surrender our hearts, our very lives into her hands. What does surrender mean? In the Oxford English Dictionary one of the meanings of surrender is “To abandon oneself entirely to…” This means to let go control of my life, and place it entirely in another’s hands. It is an act of utter trust. It is the kind of abandonment that a baby has in his mother’s arms, a trust that is complete. There is no fear or worry involved, only a trusting repose. To abandon oneself entirely to another means to place all one’s hope and trust in that person, knowing that it is the best possible thing to do. To abandon oneself entirely to Our Lady and thus to Jesus, is truly the best thing we can do for ourselves. This is total consecration! Our Lady asks us surrender ourselves to her and through her to God. She says that she needs this surrender in order to work in us and through us. Today we will meditate on surrender, in the words of Our Lady! The Annunciation “Dear children! Today also I call each one of you to decide to surrender again everything completely to me. Only that way will I be able to present each of you to God. Dear children, you know that I love you immeasurably and that I desire each of you for myself, but God has given to all a freedom which I lovingly respect and humbly submit to. I desire, dear children that you help so that everything God has planned in this parish shall be realized. If you do not pray, you shall not be able to recognize my love and the plans which God has for this parish and for each individual. Pray that Satan does not entice you with his pride and deceptive strength. I am with you and I want you to believe me, that I love you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”(November 25, 1987) The Visitation “Dear children! Today also I am inviting you to a complete surrender to God. Dear children, you are not conscious of how God loves you with such a great love because He permits me to be with you so I can instruct you and help you to find the way of peace. This way, however, you cannot discover if you do not pray. Therefore, dear children, forsake everything and consecrate your time to God and God will bestow gifts upon you and bless you. Little children, don’t forget that your life is fleeting like a spring flower which today is wondrously beautiful but tomorrow has vanished. Therefore, pray in such a way that your prayer, your surrender to God, may become like a road sign. That way, your witness will not only have value for yourselves but for all eternity. Thank you for having responded to my call.”(March 25, 1988) The Birth of Jesus “Dear children! I am inviting you to a complete surrender to God. Pray, little children, that Satan may not carry you about like the branches in the wind. Be strong in God. I desire that through you the whole world may get to know the God of joy. By your life bear witness for God’s joy. Do not be anxious nor worried. God himself will help you and show you the way. I desire that you love all men with my love. Only in that way can love reign over the world. Little children, you are mine. I love you and want you to surrender to me so that I can lead you to God. Never cease praying so that Satan cannot take advantage of you. Pray for the knowledge that you are mine. I bless you with blessings of joy. Thank you for having responded to my call.”(May 25, 1988) The Presentation “Dear children! Today I am calling you to a complete surrender to God. Everything you do and everything you possess give over to God so that He can take control in your life as the King of all that you possess. That way, through me, God can lead you into the depths of the spiritual life. Little children, do not be afraid, because I am with you even if you think there is no way out and that Satan is in control. I am bringing peace to you I am your mother, the Queen of Peace. I am blessing you with the blessings of joy so that for you God may be everything in your life. Thank you for having responded to my call.”(July 25, 1988) The Finding in the Temple “Dear children; my motherly call, which I direct to you today, is a call of truth and life. My Son, who is life, loves you and knows you in truth. To come to know and to love yourself, you must come to know my Son; to come to know and to love others, you must see my Son in them. Therefore, my children, pray, pray, that you may comprehend and surrender with a spirit that is free, be completely transformed and, in this way, may have the Kingdom of Heaven in your heart on earth. Thank you!”(July 2, 2010) Dear Mother Mary, we gather together to pray this novena, with deep gratitude for your presence in our midst. You have come to show us the way to heaven. The Heavenly Father has sent you to us to help us to repent and return to Him. You are coming to be the bond between us and the Heavenly Father, and to help us to love and serve His Son. You pray with us for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, because you have told us that when we have the Holy Spirit, we have everything. Therefore we ask that during this Novena you will help us to bond with you and through you with our Triune God who loves us so much. We ask that every grace can be poured out upon our shepherds, especially Pope Francis, during these nine days that they will be strengthened and purified for the days ahead, these most triumphant days of the Triumph of your Immaculate Heart! (c) Mateo Ivankovic 2016 J.M.J. June 18, 2018 37th Anniversary Novena Day 4 Dear Family of Mary! “Dear Children! As a mother, I implore you, open your heart and offer it to me, and fear nothing. I will be with you and will teach you how to put Jesus in the first place. I will teach you to love Him and to belong to Him completely. Comprehend, dear children that without my Son there is no salvation. You should become aware that He is your beginning and your end. Only with this awareness can you be happy and merit eternal life. As your mother, I desire this for you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”(March 18 2002 – Mirjana) It seems that one of the prerequisites to Our Lady’s school of holiness, one of the underlying predispositions we need to have is an “open heart”. Our Lady has mentioned the need for an open heart at least 70 times in her messages. She not only suggests that we open our hearts, she implores us, begs us, and prays for us to have open hearts. Why is an open heart so important and what does it mean? I think an open heart means that we let Our Lady into our inner self. We invite her into our heart where our deepest secrets, wounds, desires and hopes are found. It means that we invite her into our inner room where we pray, where we love, where we choose. We do not hide ourselves from her. And we do not put on a show for her, we are honest and straight-forward with her about everything. The same goes for Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit. We open our heart to them, that they may have free access to our inner self. Why is it important? Because it is only with an open heart that we can make contact with God and Mother Mary, and receive all the graces we need to be saved. We must open our hearts, no one can do it for us. It is our fundamental choice to believe in God and love Him. When we open our heart we choose to convert, turn to the Lord and trust Him. We choose to follow Our Lady who is leading us to God. Medjugorje is the place where hearts open! May we be those open hearts!! The Annunciation “Dear children, By God’s will I am here with you in this place. I desire that you open your hearts to me and to accept me as a mother. With my love I will teach you simplicity of life and richness of mercy and I will lead you to my Son. The way to Him can be difficult and painful but do not be afraid, I will be with you. My hands will hold you to the very end, to eternal happiness; therefore do not be afraid to open yourselves to me. Thank you. Pray for priests. My Son gave them to you as a gift.”(May 2, 2008) The Visitation “Dear children; Today I am praying here with you that you may gather the strength to open your hearts and thus to become aware of the mighty love of the suffering God. Through His love, goodness and meekness, I am also with you. I invite you for this special time of preparation to be a time of prayer, penance and conversion. My children, you need God. You cannot go forward without my Son. When you comprehend and accept this, what was promised to you will be realized. Through the Holy Spirit the Kingdom of Heaven will be born in your hearts. I am leading you to this. Thank you.”(December 2, 2010) The Birth of Jesus “Dear children, with much love and patience I strive to make your hearts like unto mine. I strive, by my example, to teach you humility, wisdom and love because I need you; I cannot do without you my children. According to God’s will I am choosing you, by His strength I am strengthening you. Therefore, my children, do not be afraid to open your hearts to me. I will give them to my Son and in return, He will give you the gift of Divine peace. You will carry it to all those whom you meet, you will witness God’s love with your life and you will give the gift of my Son through yourselves. Through reconciliation, fasting and prayer, I will lead you. Immeasurable is my love. Do not be afraid. My children, pray for the shepherds. May your lips be shut to every judgment, because do not forget that my Son has chosen them and only He has the right to judge. Thank you.”(January 02, 2013) The Presentation “Dear children, If only you would open your hearts to me with complete trust, you would comprehend everything. You would comprehend with how much love I am calling you; with how much love I desire to change you, to make you happy; with how much love I desire to make you followers of my Son and give you peace in the fullness of my Son. You would comprehend the immeasurable greatness of my motherly love. That is why, my children, pray because through prayer your faith grows and love is born, the love along which even the cross is not unendurable because you do not carry it alone. In union with my Son you glorify the name of the Heavenly Father. Pray, pray for the gift of love, because love is the only truth: it forgives everything, it serves everyone and it sees a brother in everyone. My children, my apostles, great is the trust that the Heavenly Father has given you through me, His handmaid, to help those who do not know Him, that they may reconcile with Him and follow Him. That is why I am teaching you love, because only if you have love will you be able to respond to Him. Again I am calling you to love your shepherds and to pray that, at this difficult time, the name of my Son may be glorified under their guidance. Thank you.”(August 02, 2013) The Finding in the Temple “Dear children, open your hearts and try to feel how much I love you and how much I desire for you to love my Son. I desire for you to come to know Him all the better, because it is impossible to know Him and not to love Him – because He is love. I, my children, know you. I know your pain and suffering because I lived through them. I laugh with you in your joy and I cry with you in your pain. I will never leave you. I will always speak to you with motherly tenderness. And I, as a mother, need your open hearts to spread the love of my Son with wisdom and simplicity. I need you to be open and sensitive to the good and mercy. I need you to be united with my Son, because I desire for you to be happy and to help me to bring happiness to all of my children. My apostles, I need you to show everyone the truth of God, so that my heart, which suffered and today suffers so much pain, can win in love. Pray for the holiness of your shepherds, so that in the name of my Son they can work miracles, because holiness works miracles. A Still Small Voice June 15, 2018 A message from Our Lady – Ivan’s prayer group Dear Family of Mary! On Friday, June 15, Our Lady came to Ivan’s prayer group on Apparition Hill, at approximately 10:00 pm.  Ivan shared a beautiful message she gave us through him, and his experience of the apparition.  Here are his words after the apparition: “Dear Children! Also today in a special way  I desire to call you to the Eucharist.  May the Mass be the center of your lives.  In a special way dear children, may the Eucharist be in your families.  The family must live Holy Mass to give glory to Jesus.  Jesus must be the center of your lives.  Therefore pray, dear children,  pray family prayer and set out after Jesus.  Thank you dear children also today for having responded to my call.” Our Lady came to us also today, joyful and happy!, She greeted all of us with her motherly greeting, “Praised be Jesus my dear children!” Then with her arms extended she for a longer time prayed over all of us, especially the sick.  She gave us her motherly blessing and after that I recommended all of you, your intentions, your families, especially the sick.  Then, Our Lady left in prayer, in an illuminated sign of the light and the cross with the words, “Go in Peace, my dear children.”  In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! This is why, angels, pray, pray, pray, so that my plan may be realized. Receive my motherly blessing!”(June 25, 2001 Ivanka) Our Lady has made it clear in her messages that her coming to Medjugorje involves a specific plan from the Heavenly Father, a plan for the salvation of the world in these days. She has mentioned her plan many times. Three things stand out about this plan: 1. It is a plan for the salvation of the Church and the world, and involves the Parish of Medjugorje and the pilgrims who are responding to her call. 2. Satan opposes this plan with great power and deep animosity. He is working tirelessly to destroy this plan. 3. The plan is dependent upon the response of Our Lady’s children. Through our personal conversion, prayer, fasting, adherence to the Sacraments, and our witness to the truth, Our Lady’s plan will prosper. Today let us pray to understand and live this plan that God has given to Our Lady for the sake of souls. Our “yes” is part of that beautiful plan for the good of all. The Annunciation “My dear children! Satan is so strong and with all his might wants to disturb my plans which I have begun with you. You pray, just pray and don’t stop for a minute! I will pray to my Son for the realization of all the plans I have begun. Be patient and constant in your prayers. And don’t let Satan discourage you. He is working hard in the world. I invite you to self-renunciation for nine days so that, with your help, everything that I desire to realize through the secrets I began in Fatima, may be fulfilled. I call you, dear children, to now grasp the importance of my coming and the seriousness of the situation. I want to save all souls and present them to God. Her fundamental relationship to us is as mother. She is a mother to each of us individually, and she has the particular attention to detail that only a mother can have for each of us. Nothing escapes her notice. She watches over each of us with enormous energy and dedication. We are the most fortunate of children to have Our Lady as our mother. Today, let’s rest in the peace and security of little children who have the best of mothers, and let our gratitude swell. Our Lady is tending to everything. She is leading us to the Father. As Our Lady said; “Dear children! Today I wish to tell you to open your hearts to God like the spring flowers which crave for the sun. I am your Mother and I always want you to be closer to the Father and that He will always give abundant gifts to your hearts. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (January 31, 1985) The Annunciation: “Dear children! During these days my Lord is allowing me to be able to intercede more graces for you. Therefore, I wish to urge you once more to pray, dear children! Pray without ceasing! That way I will give you the joy which the Lord gives to me. With these graces, dear children, I want your sufferings to be a joy. I am your Mother and I desire to help you. And you do not know how much my heart suffers and how much I pray to my Son for you. I pray to Him to heal your souls because He can do so. I pray to Him to illuminate you with the miracle of the Holy Spirit so that you may stop, always anew, betraying, cursing and wounding Him. With all my heart I pray for you to understand that only my Son is the salvation and the light of the world. And you, my children, my dear apostles, always carry my Son in your hearts and thoughts. It is the Novena for the 37th Anniversary of Our Lady’s coming in Medjugorje. We will be praying with the St. James Parish and pilgrims from all over the world, in thanksgiving to God for sending Our Mother to Medjugorje to be with us and help us. We will also be joining with Our Lady to do intercession as she asked in her June 2, 2017 message: “Apostles of my love, the world is in such need of your arms raised towards Heaven, towards my Son, towards the Heavenly Father.” This is the time to pray for the salvation of souls, to raise our arms and our hearts to God for the sake of the world. The Parish of St. James will climb Apparition Hill every day of the novena, starting at 4:00 pm Medjugorje time. Mary TV will stream this event, live, every day (www.marytv.tv ). We can all join in the prayer of the Rosary with the Parish as they climb the hill where Our Lady first appeared to the visionaries back in 1981. Mary TV will have to rearrange our schedule to accommodate the Parish Novena. God’s mercy is very great. Our Lady calls us to understand the importance of her coming in this most recent message: June 02, 2017 “Dear children, as in the other places where I have come to you, also here I am calling you to prayer. Pray for those who do not know my Son, for those who have not come to know the love of God, against sin, for the consecrated – for those whom my Son called to have love and the spirit of strength for you, for the Church. Pray to my Son, and the love which you experience from His nearness will give you the strength to make you ready for the works of love, which you will do in His name. My children, be ready. This time is a turning point. That is why I am calling you anew to faith and hope. I am showing you the way by which you need to go, and those are the words of the Gospel. Apostles of my love, the world is in such need of your arms raised towards Heaven, towards my Son, towards the Heavenly Father. Much humility and purity of heart are needed. Have trust in my Son and know that you can always be better. My motherly heart desires for you, apostles of my love, to be little lights of the world, to illuminate there where darkness wants to begin to reign, to show the true way by your prayer and love, to save souls. I am with you. Thank you.” Let us pray this Rosary in joy and gratitude that Our Lady is still with us! The Joyful Mysteries The Annunciation: September 02, 2012 “Dear children, as my eyes are looking at you, my soul is seeking those souls with whom it desires to be one – the souls who have understood the importance of prayer for those of my children who have not come to know the love of the Heavenly Father. I am calling you because I need you. Accept the mission and do not be afraid, I will strengthen you. I will fill you with my graces. With my love I will protect you from the evil spirit. I will be with you. With my presence I will console you in difficult moments. Thank you for your open hearts. Pray for priests. Pray that the unity between my Son and them may be all the stronger, that they may be one. Thank you.” The Visitation: February 25, 1995 “Dear children! Today I invite you to become missionaries of my messages, which I am giving here through this place that is dear to me. God has allowed me to stay this long with you and therefore, little children, I invite you to live with love the messages I give and to transmit them to the whole world, so that a river of love flows to people who are full of hatred and without peace. I invite you, little children, to become peace where there is no peace and light where there is darkness, so that each heart accepts the light and the way of salvation. Today on this great day which you have given to me, I desire to bless all of you and to say: these days while I am with you are days of grace. I desire to teach you and help you to walk the way of holiness. There are many people who do not desire to understand my messages and to accept with seriousness what I am saying. Pray with the heart, little children, and do not lose hope because God loves His creatures. He desires to save you, one by one, through my coming here. I call you to the way of holiness. Pray, and in prayer you are open to God’s will; in this way, in everything you do, you realize God’s plan in you and through you. Thank you for having responded to my call.” Let us pray: Dear Mother Mary, we gather together to pray this novena, with deep gratitude for your presence in our midst. You have come to show us the way to heaven. The Heavenly Father has sent you to us to help us to repent and return to Him. You are coming to be the bond between us and the Heavenly Father, and to help us to love and serve His Son. You pray with us for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, because you have told us that when we have the Holy Spirit, we have everything. Therefore we ask that during this Novena you will help us to bond with you and through you with our Triune God who loves us so much. We ask that every grace can be poured out upon our shepherds during these nine days, that they will be strengthened and purified for the days ahead, these most triumphant days of the Triumph of your Immaculate Heart! A Still Small Voice June 15, 2018 Dear Family of Mary! The first reading for Mass today is from 1Kings 19. Elijah has had to run away from Jezebel because he had withstood her and she wanted to destroy him. He runs into the wilderness, and comes to a cave. There he is told by the Lord to stand and wait for Him in the cave. Here is what Elijah experienced: And he said, “Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and broke in pieces the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. And when Eli’jah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And behold, there came a voice to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Eli’jah?” (1 Kings 19:11-13) Elijah was given a lesson on how to discern the presence of the Lord. Most of us would expect that the presence of the Lord would be filled with power like a strong wind, and earthquake, or fire. Don’t we wonder when the Lord will reveal himself to the world with fire and brimstone? But Elijah experienced each of these destructive natural forces and did not sense the presence of the Lord in them. It was not until he heard a still small voice that Elijah was aware of God. He immediately covered his face, because it was thought to see God was to die. And he stood at the entrance of the cave and awaited God. God spoke to Elijah in a “still small voice”. This voice was an intimate voice. It was a voice that spoke directly to Elijah’s heart. It may have been small, easily disregarded. But for Elijah, it was the voice that had accompanied him as he prophesied to errant Israel, and who now had more work for Elijah to do. We also need to be attuned to the still small voice within us, the voice of our Lord and God. Each of us are called to hear His voice and follow Him. Our Lady has told us: “…Oh, my children, how much bad is done by those who must see or interpret in order to come to believe. That is why, you, my children, my apostles, in the silence of your heart, listen to the voice of my Son, so that your heart may be His home, that it may not be dark and sad, but that it may be illuminated with the light of my Son…” October 02, 2016 Our Lady tells us we must listen to the voice of her Son, in the silence of our hearts. His voice will be still and small. It will not command or frighten us. He will speak to us gently and in a way that could be missed. That is why we must grow in silence. Only then will we hear Jesus properly. Prayer helps us grow in silence. Like Elijah we can wait in the cave of our heart, and discern the presence of God, not in the violent occurrences of life, but in the small still communications of love that His voice brings. The Novena will be prayed by the parish, while climbing Apparition Hill. The climb will begin at 4:00 pm Medjugorje time. The Novena will end on June 24, 2018. Mary TV will be altering our schedule to accommodate this Novena, streaming it, live, on our channel. Forgiveness June 14, 2018 Dear Family of Mary! Today, in our Gospel, Jesus warns us about the poison of unforgiveness and lack of reconciliation between us. He makes is very clear that if we hold on to anger and resentment we will be ruining our own lives. Our Lady speaks directly to this pervasive problem for us humans as well. Here is the Gospel for today- Matthew 5: 20-26: For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. “You have heard that it was said to the men of old, `You shall not kill; and whoever kills shall be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother shall be liable to the council, and whoever says, `You fool!’ shall be liable to the hell of fire. So if you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Make friends quickly with your accuser, while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison; truly, I say to you, you will never get out till you have paid the last penny. (Matthew 5:20-26) And Our Lady’s message: September 2, 2010 “Dear children; I am beside you because I desire to help you to overcome trials, which this time of purification puts before you. My children, one of those is not to forgive, and not to ask for forgiveness. Every sin offends love and distances you from it and love is my Son. Therefore, my children, if you desire to walk with me towards the peace of God’s love, you must learn to forgive and to ask for forgiveness. Thank you.” Our Lady’s words are so kind and gentle. May we respond to her desire to help us in this time of trial, this time on earth. She can give us the inner strength to face up to our anger and resentment and our wrong doing, and make things right! We do not want to be distanced from Jesus! The Statue of St. Anthony in St. James Church June 13, 2018 St. Anthony of Padua Dear Family of Mary! July 25, 2007 “Dear children! Today, on the day of the Patron of your Parish, I call you to imitate the lives of the Saints. May they be, for you, an example and encouragement to a life of holiness. May prayer for you be like the air you breathe in and not a burden. Little children, God will reveal His love to you and you will experience the joy that you are my beloved. God will bless you and give you an abundance of grace. Thank you for having responded to my call.” Though St. James is the patron saint of the Parish of Medjugorje, St. Anthony is the patron of the Franciscans in the area. Rosie reported last year about the devotion to St. Anthony in Medjugorje: On the 13th of June is St. Anthony’s feast day, and here in the region there is a long standing tradition where many young people, and older people too, will leave their homes during the night and walk many kilometers to Ljubuski where the Fransiscan Shrine of St. Anthony is situated. From Medjugorje it is about an 18 Kilometer walk but so many people are prepared to do the walk. They will arrive at St. Anthony’s Shrine, where they will attend Holy Mass. There is Holy Mass on the hour, every hour, from 5 am throughout the day to 7 pm. So the pilgrims arrive, attend Holy Mass, and then they also take part in Confession in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It is a great joy to see how many young people of this area, and also pilgrims that come, who very willing wish to do this devotion. (Tea with Rosie # 201 – June 14, 2017) Pilgrims gathered at St. Anthony’s Shrine in Ljubuscki Our Lady tells us “I call you to imitate the lives of the Saints. May they be for you an example and encouragement to a life of holiness.” She knows how difficult it is to live a holy life. Especially in these days when our cultures are focused so much on the world and the darkness. Staying close to the saints is important. Their example can really help us when we are making choices. Here is a prayer to St. Anthony that I like. May St. Anthony help us is all our difficulties and trials: PRAYER FOR INNER PEACE St. Anthony, faithful servant of Christ, you offered comfort and consolation to all who came to you in times of trouble. Pray for me now, that I may know true peace of mind, heart and soul. Help me grow in faith, so that I may be free from all useless and needless anxiety in this life. Fill me with a complete and lasting confidence in God’s healing graces. Grant me the serenity known by those who let go of resentments, bitterness and anger. Reassure me that Our Divine Savior, Jesus Christ, is with me every step of the way, every day of my life, and that in His gracious love I need not worry or fear any of life’s difficulties. (c)Mateo Ivankovic 2018 June 12, 2018 Dear Family of Mary! Today’s Gospel (Matthew 5:13-16) talks about salt and light. Our Lady also spoke about salt and light in the October 25, 1996 message. I think Our Lady gives us the way to respond to her Son’s admonition that we be salt and light for the world. Here is the Gospel: “You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trodden under foot by men. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Mt 5:13-16) Jesus speaks to us today about the wider purpose for each of our lives. He tells us that we have a job to do in the world. We are given to the world to provide two valuable things. First we are salt. Our presence in our families and neighborhoods should make life taste a little better. We should bring joy to others, compassion, kindness, generosity, hope, peace, and love. Our presence should be a catalyst for community. We should be the kind of people others feel blessed by. Then we will draw them to Jesus, who makes us such nice people!! We are also called to be light. How can we be light? My guess is that our lives show the way for others just as lights on hilltops show the way to the city, and lights in the house show where everything is in the house. Lights make is possible to function in the dark. And isn’t our world dark! We live in a world darkened by sin. Only the light of holiness can show us how manage is such a dark place. We need to be good, so others will find their way to the good, and to God who is all good. But how do we become salt and light? Our Lady gives us the way in this message: October 25, 1996 “Dear children! Today I invite you to open yourselves to God the Creator, so that He changes you. Little children, you are dear to me. I love you all and I call you to be closer to me and that your love towards my Immaculate Heart be more fervent. I wish to renew you and lead you with my Heart to the Heart of Jesus, which still today suffers for you and calls you to conversion and renewal. Through you, I wish to renew the world. Comprehend, little children, that you are today the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Little children, I invite you and I love you and in a special way implore: Convert!” Thank you for having responded to my call. “Comprehend, little children, that you are today the salt of the earth and the light of the world.” We are the salt of the earth, the light of the world. But we become salt and light by living the way she describes in the first part of the message. We are invited to open ourselves to God the Creator, so He can change us. He can convert us. He can remold us into the kind of people who do what salt and light do. We open ourselves by coming closer to Mary, who in turn will draw us closer to Jesus, who in turn will show us how to convert. How to be renewed. And when we are renewed, Our Lady will change the world through us! Salt and Light! It happens when we convert.
