June 4, 2021 First Friday Dear Family of Mary! “And you will be my extended hands in this lost world.”(May 25, 2021) As I was thinking and praying about becoming Our Lady’s extended hands, a question began to form in my heart. “When did I experience Our Lady’s extended hands in my life?” Simple as that. Did I ever experience Our Lady’s help through others? And the answer came back with a resounding “yes”!!!! The more I thought about it, the more overwhelmed I was by the enormity of the help I have received through Our Lady’s children. It still chokes me up when I think about it. I can’t even begin a list, there are so many instances when clearly Our Lady was helping Denis and me to get closer to her through her children. Such things as plane tickets to Medjugorje given to us! And the excellent leadership of pilgrimage directors who helped us to experience Medjugorje properly! There were books about Medjugorje showing up in the mail, rosaries brought back from Medjugorje for our family, pictures of Our Lady, Crucifixes, medals, prayer cards all given to us by friends. For many years we had faithful friends in a Rosary group! And then there were the conferences and gatherings with speakers on Medjugorje, all supported by the extended hands of Our Lady through our friends. Mary TV is built by the extended hands of Our Lady, through all of you shipmates. Such a powerful outpouring of grace has come through all of you, by sharing expertise, donating funds, volunteering your time, and praying for us!! Truly we have seen mighty miracles of love, the extended hands of Our Lady!! I am finding it very healing to take time in prayer to give thanks for all the blessings that I have received through Our Lady’s extended hands. Maybe this moment we are in, the 40th anniversary of Our Lady’s coming in Medjugorje, is a good time to look back and give deep thanks for all the blessings we have received from Our Lady through her children. As we ponder these blessings, our faith will deepen and our trust in Our Lady will grow. We will feel God so near to us, and Our Lady wrapping us in her mantle of love. This has truly been a time of grace like no other! Our Lady said these words to us in 2009. They apply for this moment as well: June 25, 2009″Dear children! Rejoice with me, convert in joy and give thanks to God for the gift of my presence among you. Pray that, in your hearts, God may be in the center of your life and with your life witness, little children, so that every creature may feel God’s love. Be my extended hands for every creature, so that it may draw closer to the God of love. I bless you with my motherly blessing. Thank you for having responded to my call.” In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! June 3, 2021 St. Charles Lwanga and CompanionsDear Family of Mary! “And you will be my extended hands in this lost world.”(May 25, 2021) Our Lady has asked us to be her extended hands several times. She makes it clear that she needs us to help her. Just as Jesus had disciples and apostles, so our Lady needs us to be her people on the ground, carrying her message of love and mercy to all those we meet. She needs us represent her to the souls in need of her presence and love. But what do extended hands of the Gospa do? I don’t think it is as premeditated as it sounds. She just needs us to carry her presence with us into our every day life, and not be shy to say something about her to those we meet. Just yesterday, Denis and I went to a doctor’s appointment. It was for Denis. We came with no expectations, and just interacted with the doctor and her assistant, with pleasant conversation. But when Denis mentioned he would be traveling to Bosnia/Hercegovina soon, and would it be ok, the doctor perked up. She asked him how he knew the pronunciation of that country so well. Well that was all it took. Denis was off and running about Our Lady of Medjugorje, about the Rosary, about conversions, and on and on…(ha ha!) We ended up emptying our pockets of rosaries, to give to the Doctor and her assistant, with promises of more to come. It was such a joyous visit to the doctor. This was a moment when you could just feel Our Lady present with us. I guess we were being her extended hands. But it was such fun!! So don’t be afraid to be Our Lady’s extended hands. She needs you and me, who else will tell the world about Our Lady of Medjugorje!! Here are some of the messages about being her extended hands that you might pray over. She is serious. She needs us. But the job isn’t serious, it is a joy! November 25, 2004 “Dear children! At this time, I call you all to pray for my intentions. Especially, little children, pray for those who have not yet come to know the love of God and do not seek God the Savior. You, little children, be my extended hands and by your example draw them closer to my Heart and the Heart of my Son. God will reward you with graces and every blessing. Thank you for having responded to my call.” February 25, 2005 “Dear children! Today I call you to be my extended hands in this world that puts God in the last place. You, little children, put God in the first place in your life. God will bless you and give you strength to bear witness to Him, the God of love and peace. I am with you and intercede for all of you. Little children, do not forget that I love you with a tender love. Thank you for having responded to my call.” June 25, 2009 “Dear children! Rejoice with me, convert in joy and give thanks to God for the gift of my presence among you. Pray that, in your hearts, God may be in the center of your life and with your life witness, little children, so that every creature may feel God’s love. Thank you for having responded to my call.” November 25, 2009 “Dear children! In this time of grace I call you all to renew prayer in your families. Prepare yourselves with joy for the coming of Jesus. Little children, may your hearts be pure and pleasing, so that love and warmth may flow through you into every heart that is far from His love. Little children, be my extended hands, hands of love for all those who have become lost, who have no more faith and hope. Thank you for having responded to my call.” December 25, 2011 “Dear children! Also today, in my arms I am carrying my Son Jesus to you, for Him to give you His peace. Pray, little children, and witness so that in every heart, not human but God’s peace may prevail, which no one can destroy. It is that peace in the heart which God gives to those whom He loves. By your baptism you are all, in a special way called and loved, therefore witness and pray that you may be my extended hands to this world which yearns for God and peace. Decide for holiness and joy will begin to reign! June 2, 2021 Sts. Marcellinus and Peter Dear Family of Mary! “Decide for holiness and joy will begin to reign!..“(May 25, 2021) Once we leave sin and evil, we have room in our lives for holiness and joy! We find ourselves able to receive from God that heavenly life that He so wants to give us. That life comes through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit!! Our Lady wants us to be steeped in the Holy Spirit, filled with the Holy Spirit and lit up with the Holy Spirit! She has told us many time to ask for the Holy Spirit because when we have Him, we have everything! Fr. Slavko wrote a beautiful prayer to the Holy Spirit in his book: Pray with the Heart! Here it is!! May this prayer open our hearts to the Holy Spirit so that we may be filled with joy! Prayer to the Holy Spirit Mary, thank you for having called me to pray every day to the Holy Spirit through whom you conceived Jesus Christ, through whom you, in meditation, understood the Word of God and remained faithful to it to the end. “Dear children! This evening I would like to tell you to pray in the days of this Novena for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on your families and on your parish. Pray. You shall not regret it. God shall give you the gifts with which you will praise Him to the last breath of your life on earth. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (June 2, 1984) O Spirit, I pray to You now with Mary who called me to pray to You. Pour Yourself out on me with all Your gifts. Pour out the gift of love into my life that from now on I may love God in You above all, and my neighbor as myself. Pour out on me the gift of wisdom that in everything I do, think, feel and decide, I may always think, decide and act in Your light. O Spirit of Counsel, descend on me that I may, with my knowledge and the word of love, help those who ask me for counsel. Let my every word be a light to others. Spirit of Jesus, grant me the gift of Your strength that I may stand every trial and do the Father’s will, especially in times of hardship. Spirit of Fortitude, strengthen me in the hours of frailty. O Spirit of Life, develop the divine life which was given to me, through You, when I was in the bosom of my mother and again at my baptism. Divine Fire, inflame the fire of divine love in my heart so that the darkness and ice of sin may disappear from it. Spirit of Healing, heal within me all that is wounded and develop the undeveloped. Descend on me with all your strength that I may be thankful for small things as well. Enlighten me, Holy Spirit, that I may know how to appreciate crosses and hardships, too. Mary, you are the bearer of the Holy Spirit. Thank you for calling me to pray to the Spirit of Truth: “Dear children! Tomorrow evening pray for the Spirit of truth. Especially you from the parish, for you need the Spirit of truth that you convey the messages as they are, without adding to or taking away anything from them, just the way I put them. Pray that the Holy Spirit may inspire you with the spirit of prayer, that you may pray more. I, your Mother, tell you that you pray little. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (June 9, 1984) O Spirit of Truth, enlighten me with Your truth that I may first live the truth of love, peace and righteousness. Help me that I may be able, with my words and deeds, to proclaim every day the Word of the Father in its full light to everybody. Holy Spirit, guide our Pope, bishops, priests and all others who proclaim the Word of God. Fall on the parish community of Medjugorje, too, that it may be able to live Our Lady’s messages and convey them to all. Fall on the priests who preach in Medjugorje. Fall on the confessors and those who confess. Spirit of Prayer, teach us how to pray. Cleanse our hearts that we may pray worthily and always find time for prayer. Holy Spirit, pray within me and invoke Abba, Father. Grant me the favor of praying with the heart. Mary, I also want to open my heart to the Holy Spirit, as you opened yours when you called to me: “Dear children these days I invite you especially to open your hearts to the Holy Spirit. These days the Holy Spirit acts through you in a special way. Open your hearts and abandon your life to Jesus that He may act through your hearts and strengthen your faith. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (May 23, 1985) Holy Spirit, take away all burdens from me that my heart may be like a developing and growing flower that brings abundant fruit. Mary, may the Holy Spirit start and continue within me the deed which started in you, that the divine Word may grow within me. O Holy Spirit, through Mary I choose You today as the Master of my whole being. With trust an hope in Your endless love, which manifested itself so marvelously in Mary, I decide for Your gifts. I renounce every evil spirit and his action, and accept You, Spirit of Light, Love, Peace and Order. I dedicate to you all my abilities and want to act in Your light. Leave sin and evil… June 1, 2021 St. Justin Dear Family of Mary! “Leave sin and evil…” (May 25, 2021) Our Lady has tried to build into our lives the gift of repentance. In so many ways she has tried to help us root out sin from our lives. As long as we cling to our sins and failings, we will not advance on the road to holiness. But we need help. Fr. Slavko Barbaric wrote a lovely book “Pray with the Heart!” In it he actually prays with us for the graces we need. I want to share with you part of the evening prayer that Fr. Slavko composed, in which he so gently and lovingly helps us to recognize and root out the sins of the day and give them to Jesus. May this prayer be a help to us in leaving sin and evil behind. Pray with the Heart! by Fr. Slavko Barbaric Evening Prayer Father, the day has passed and the evening has come. I pray to You to send me Your Spirit that I may, in Your light, consciously spend these moments which I want to dedicate to You and to myself. Thank you for being ready to listen to me as Your child. Father, hush my heart as the heart of a child is hushed in its father’s arms. Hush my heart at the sunset of this day as a baby is hushed in its mother’ arms. As everything around me is falling into the darkness of the night, send me Your light which never passes. Appease my soul as a doe is appeased at a water spring and as the earth is appeased after a fruitful rain. Mary, so many times you hushed Jesus, your Son, as a child in your motherly arms and committed Him to the calm of the night. So I, too, ask you to be with me in these moments, that peace and tranquility may enter into my heart, that they may affect my soul and body. Mary, thank you for having called me to change my heart. You said: “Dear children! I would like to tell you today to start working on your hearts like you work in your fields. Work and change your hearts that a new spirit from God may settle down in them. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (April 25, 1985) (Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be) Father, I have worked today and have become tired. Thank you for my having had a chance to make use of the gifts You gave me for my own good and for the good of others. Thank you that I have worked hard today too. And now I pray to You to give me grace to cultivate my heart, as I was ready to do other jobs during the day. Father, I pray to You that I may, at Mary’s intercession, redecorate and cultivate my heart, that it may change and become good and pure. Remove from it the dust of sin and evil. Let a new Spirit make its abode in me. Father, I admit that I have sinned today, too. At times selfishness and haughtiness took hold of me. I was angry and impatient. Others around me have sinned, too, uttering blasphemies, curses, lies and slanders. Father, all this has burdened my heart. So, cleanse and wash me. Cleanse my consciousness and subconsciousness that peace may settle down in me. Mary, thank you for your call to cleanse ourselves of sin: “Dear children! Today, too, I invite you to prepare your hearts for all the days when the Lord especially wants to cleanse you of all sins from your past. You, dear children, are not able to do it alone. That is why I am here to help you. Pray, dear children. Only in this way will you be able to recognize all the evil that is in you and to deliver it to the Lord in order that He may completely cleanse your hearts. So, dear children, pray without ceasing and prepare your hearts in penance and fasting. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (December 4, 1986) Mary, thank you for being here to help us to cleanse ourselves. O Mother, take me on your lap now. A mother makes little of how dirty and soiled her child is, she rather helps it to be clean and nice. Do so with me now. Let the Lord, at your intercession, take the burdens from my heart. God…out of love has sent me to you! (Our Lady appearing to Mirjana at the Blue Cross! What joy!) May 31, 2021 The Visitation of the Blessed Virgin MaryDear Family of Mary! “Dear children! Today I am looking at you and calling: return to God because He is love and out of love has sent me to you to lead you on the way of conversion…(May 25, 2021) “God… out of love has sent me to you!” God has sent Our Lady to visit us. She comes every day to Medjugorje to be with us, to comfort us, to teach us, to admonish us, to guide us, and to bless us. She is with us to help us stay strong in God in this difficult moment in salvation history. Our visitation is very similar to the first visitation that Mary made, when God sent her to visit Elizabeth, her cousin: And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible.” And Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a city of Judah, and she entered the house of Zechari’ah and greeted Elizabeth. (Luke 1:36-40) At the moment Mary heard about Elizabeth through the Angel Gabriel, she knew that God wanted her to go to her. God was sending her!! Our Lady went in haste to visit Elizabeth, her cousin, to share her good news and to encourage her in her pregnancy. What joy it was for Elizabeth to greet Our Lady, and the child she was carrying!! When Mary comes to visit, everything changes for the better! Here is the story of that first visitation: And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the voice of your greeting came to my ears, the babe in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfilment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.” (Luke 1:41-45) What an explosion of joy! What a moment of prophecy! Elizabeth was shown the salvation that had come through Mary’s yes – Jesus’ Incarnation! She was given that understanding by the Holy Spirit! This was an explosion of grace!! And immediately, Mary sang her incredible song of Thanksgiving, the Magnificat! Her heart could open up to Elizabeth, because Elizabeth now understood what God was doing! Mary was not alone with this miracle but had support from Elizabeth, even as she was a support to Elizabeth!! Isn’t God amazing! Here is Mary’s incredible song of thanksgiving to God, which we sing every day in Evening Prayer: And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden. For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed; for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. And his mercy is on those who fear him from generation to generation. He has shown strength with his arm, he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts, he has put down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted those of low degree; he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent empty away. He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his posterity for ever.” And Mary remained with her about three months, and returned to her home.(Luke 1:46-56) Let’s sing this song with Our Lady today, because God is still doing all these things in our day! Today I am looking at you and calling… May 28, 2021 Dear Family of Mary! “Dear children! Today I am looking at you and calling: return to God because He is love and out of love has sent me to you to lead you on the way of conversion…(May 25, 2021) Conversion is really the hallmark grace of Medjugorje. Over these 40 years, so many hearts have been awakened to the presence of God, the Truth of His love for us, and a desire for heaven. Conversion is often a quiet event, known only to the one receiving the grace, so we don’t have a ticker count. But there are many testimonies of conversion graces that have been recorded. (Fruit of Medjugorje videos on the Mary TV contain many conversion stories.) But even now, three days ago, Our Lady is still calling all of us to conversion! How can this be? Well, we all know. The original grace of conversion may be very strong, and happen in an instant. But a life of conversion is a daily decision. Life in this poor world of ours makes it difficult to maintain our focus on the Lord. We need to pray for our daily conversion and go to confession often to root out any tendencies to sin and Godlessness. It is a daily struggle. I have collected a few of Our Lady’s words about conversion, upon which we might reflect. She is the best spiritual guide!! I may continue this for a couple of days, since she has said so many wonderful things about conversion!! Our Lady speaks of conversion: Spring 1983 “Hasten your conversion. Do not await the sign, which has been announced, for those who do not believe. It will be too late. You who believe, be converted and deepen your faith.” February 13, 1986 “Dear children! This Lent is a special incentive for you to change. Start from this moment. Turn off the television and renounce various things that are of no value. Dear children, I am calling you individually to conversion. This season is for you. Thank you for having responded to my call.” February 25, 1987 “Dear children! Today I want to wrap you all in my mantle and lead you all along the way of conversion. Dear children, I beseech you, surrender to the Lord your entire past, all the evil that has accumulated in your hearts. I want each one of you to be happy, but in sin nobody can be happy. Therefore, dear children, pray, and in prayer you shall realize a new way of joy. Joy will manifest in your hearts and thus you shall be joyful witnesses of that which I and My Son want from each one of you. I am blessing you. Thank you for having responded to my call.” June 24, 1987 “Dear children! I want to lead you on the road to conversion. I desire that you convert the world and that your life be a conversion for others. Do not fall into infidelity. Let each one of you be completely submitted to my will and to the will of God. Beginning this day, I give you special graces, and in particular the gift of conversion. Let each one of you take home my blessing, and motivate the others to a real conversion.” January 25, 1988 “Dear children! Today again I am calling you to complete conversion, which is difficult for those who have not chosen God. God can give you everything that you seek from Him. But you seek God only when sicknesses, problems and difficulties come to you and you think that God is far from you and is not listening and does not hear your prayers. No, dear children, that is not the truth. When you are far from God, you cannot receive graces because you do not seek them with a firm faith. Day by day, I am praying for you, and I want to draw you ever more near to God, but I cannot if you don’t want it. Therefore, dear children put your life in God’s hands. I bless you all. Today I am looking at you… May 27, 2021 Dear Family of Mary! Here is the May 25, 2021 Message from Our Lady, Queen of Peace: “Dear children! Today I am looking at you and calling: return to God because He is love and out of love has sent me to you to lead you on the way of conversion. Leave sin and evil, decide for holiness and joy will begin to reign; and you will be my extended hands in this lost world. I desire that you be prayer and hope to those who have not come to know the God of love. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (May 25, 2021) I am very thankful for this message. Our Lady is with us, and she is aware of each one of us. She longs to accompany each one of us in our walk towards eternal life. In this message she tells us: “Today I am looking at you…” This is not a vague greeting about some abstract relationship that Our Lady has with us. She is not far away, peering down on humanity with heavenly binoculars, and making judgements about us. I believe she means what she says. She is looking at us, each one of us, from up close. She is gazing at us as we are right now, today. And her gaze is a gaze of love. Our Lady looks at us with the eyes of a mother. She looks at each one of us individually. We are each her beloved child. I am her child. You are her child. She loves us, each one, with that powerful, patient, concerned, efficacious and wise love that only a mother has! She doesn’t miss a thing! That’s motherhood! Our Lady has been looking at us, I believe, since we were conceived. Jesus gave her the job of being our Mother from the Cross. And you know that she would never shirk that job. She has watched us and loved us and prayed for us and interceded for us throughout our entire lives. But at this time, the Father has allowed her to actually reveal herself to us in her apparitions in Medjugorje, so that we will experience her presence in a more profound way, and allow her to “mother” us. The Father has revealed Mother Mary to us in Medjugorje because we desperately need to let her mother us!! And that is what she is doing! Mothering us! So when she tells us she is looking at us, and calling…we really need to listen. The Mother has something to say that will change our lives. Thank you, dearest Mother, for looking at us…for looking with your loving and wise eyes…for caring for each one of us so much that you would tirelessly come back to earth for now almost 40 years, so that we would know you are looking at each of us. And in that look, bringing us conversion, salvation, Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit! In your look, we discover God! Thank you dearest Mother! In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! As we wait for another message! May 25, 2021 Dear Family of Mary! Later today, Our Lady will give us a new message through the visionary, Marija! Each month, we realize how blessed we are to have Our Lady with us in this very special way. She comes each day to us, with her love and prayer. And she speaks to us Words from Heaven, the words given to her by God for us. Never should we take her words for granted. Never should we ignore what she comes to tell us! These messages are given to us for our blessing, our healing, and our transformation into the Children of God! And so, as we wait in anticipation for the next message, let’s revisit the message from April 25, 2021! Let’s allow Our Lady’s words to penetrate us anew, with the graces of the Holy Spirit meant for us in this time: “Dear children! Today I am calling you to witness your faith in the colors of spring. May this be a faith of hope and courage. May your faith, little children, not waver in any situation, not even in this time of trial. Go courageously with the risen Christ towards Heaven, which is your goal. I am accompanying you on this way of holiness and am placing all of you in my Immaculate Heart. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (April 25, 2021) Thank you, dearest Mother, for calling us, visiting us, teaching us, and blessing us as we travel the road to heaven.
