Dear Family of Mary!
Day Five of our Novena for the Annunciation of the Lord:
“And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there will be no end.” Lk: 31-33)
This incredible prophecy of the conception of Jesus, the King of all, who would be conceived in Mary’s womb at the moment she accepted this call to be his mother, this prophecy was the announcement of the Kingdom of God, established on earth. With this announcement, the plan of God was revealed to Mary. And, amazingly, it would hang in the balance, waiting for the answer of the little maiden of Nazareth. Yes or no?
Our salvation hung in the balance. Yes or no?
The world held it’s breath, waiting for Mary’s response…
We know her answer, which we will consider tomorrow. But the fruit of that answer is expressed in the following message:
December 25, 2006 “Dear children! Also today I bring you the newborn Jesus in my arms. He who is the King of Heaven and earth, He is your peace. Little children, no one can give you peace as He who is the King of Peace. Therefore, adore Him in your hearts, choose Him and you will have joy in Him. He will bless you with His blessing of peace. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
Mother, teach us to choose Jesus! Teach us to adore Him in our hearts. Teach us to listen for God’s call to us, like you did.
Let us pray:
Annunciation prayer of faith:
Lord Jesus Christ, Eternal Word,
You became Incarnate as man
in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
You, through whom the universe was created,
began your earthly course,
in the womb of a humble and chaste Virgin.
At the annunciation of this miracle,
Mary responded in faith:
“Let it be done to me according to your word.”
May we who are made new creatures by your grace,
respond with such faith, when you call us to your service. Amen
