The Visitation!
and
The Holy Spirit Novena, Day 2
Dear Family of Mary!
Today is Day 2 of our Novena to the Holy Spirit! We are praying together these nine days before Pentecost in order to prepare our hearts for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon each of us, upon our families, upon our communities, and the whole world.
Today is also the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary!! I can’t think of a better scripture to read during our Novena! Why? Because Elizabeth, John, and Mary all were filled with the Holy Spirit at their meeting!! Little unborn John leaped in Elizabeth’s womb, at the presence of the unborn Jesus in Mary’s womb! That was pure Holy Spirit!! And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and proclaimed the awesome truth of Mary’s pregnancy, that Mary is the Mother of her Lord, and ours!! Finally, Mary proclaimed the incredible work of the Lord in the conception of Jesus in her womb, the Holy One who would save His people in power and might! And, of course, little Jesus is the Blessed One who causes these great outbursts of joy!!
Read it with great awe:
Luke 1:39-56
Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”
And Mary said: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;/my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,/ for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant./ From this day all generations will call me blessed:/the Almighty has done great things for me,/and holy is his Name. He has mercy on those who fear him/ in every generation./ He has shown the strength of his arm,/ he has scattered the proud in their conceit./ He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,/ and has lifted up the lowly./ He has filled the hungry with good things,/ and the rich he has sent away empty./ He has come to the help of his servant Israel/ for he has remembered his promise of mercy,/ the promise he made to our fathers,/ to Abraham and his children for ever.” Mary remained with her about three months and then returned to her home. The Gospel of the Lord.
This Gospel is so very important. Read it often, and let the Holy Spirit change you!!
Our Lady said this to us:
May 25, 1998 “Dear children! Today I call you, through prayer and sacrifice, to prepare yourselves for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Little children, this is a time of grace and so, again, I call you to decide for God the Creator. Allow Him to transform and change you. May your heart be prepared to listen to, and live, everything which the Holy Spirit has in His plan for each of you. Little children, allow the Holy Spirit to lead you on the way of truth and salvation towards eternal life. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
Just as Our Lady, St. Elizabeth and St. John were prepared to listen to and live everything which the Holy Spirit had in His plan for each of them, so must we be ready to listen to and live everything that the Holy Spirit has in His plan for each of us!
Please pray your Rosary today for a new coming of the Holy Spirit in your life! May we each grow now in the life that God has planned for us. Here is the litany we will pray each day! We will do both prayers on our Daily Rosary on Mary TV (4:00pm Medjugorje time, live on Mary TV)
