Dear Family of Mary!
I have noticed that often when Our Lady speaks about eternity or eternal life, she also speaks about conversion. Take this message as an example:
March 25, 2008 “Dear children! I call you to work on your personal conversion. You are still far from meeting with God in your heart. Therefore, spend all the more time in prayer and Adoration of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar, for Him to change you and to put into your hearts a living faith and a desire for eternal life. Everything is passing, little children, only God is not passing. I am with you and I encourage you with love. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

There is a connection between conversion and experiencing the reality of eternity. There are many testimonies in which someone living a life without God has an accident, a near death experience, or a dream in which he or she encounters the reality of Heaven and Hell. The experience is so deep and so real that when the person wakes up or is brought back from the brink, he or she has a change of life, a conversion to faith in God.
It is also documented that the Vicka and Jakov, visionaries in Medjugorje, were taken to Heaven, Hell and Purgatory by Our Lady. This experience was important for them, so that they would be steadfast and serious about their task of sharing Our Lady’s presence. They needed the conversion that comes from experiencing eternity, and Our Lady wanted them to be witnesses of eternity for others.
Eternity is a reality that cannot be explained or described. It is the absence of time. It is a final destination from which one can never leave. Eternity never ends. We who live on earth, with its rotation which makes day and night and its revolution around the sun which makes the seasons, have a built-in sense of motion and change. Things begin and end for us. We cannot conceive of eternity. But when the veil is pulled back even a little bit, we can begin to imagine it.
Our Lady wants us to really grasp eternity. She knows that we need a firm grasp of it in order to live our lives for God. As she said: “…spend all the more time in prayer and Adoration of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar, for Him to change you and to put into your hearts a living faith and a desire for eternal life.” The more time we spend with Jesus, the more we will comprehend eternity. Have you ever noticed that after an hour of silent adoration you feel like you have been somewhere else? You have been in a time warp! You have been touching eternity in Jesus. As we spend time with Jesus in this way, we will realize we are made for Heaven. And we will do all we can to be ready for Heaven.
“Everything is passing, little children, only God is not passing.” Everything on this earth is going only one way, and that is to its natural end. But we have been created with immortal souls, we do not follow the rest of creation in dying away. We are made to live forever and ever and ever. It is our choice where we spend that forever. Will it be with God? Yes, because we are on the way of conversion!
And we have the best help of all. “I am with you and I encourage you with love.” Our Lady is with us to help us to choose God and with her, find our way home. May we grow in our desire for eternal life! May we grow in our desire for God!
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

PS. The testimony of Regina Collins in our Fruit of Medjugorje Archive is a nice example of someone who encounters Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and is drawn into eternity for a moment. Regina Collins went to Medjugorje in a state of deep depression and anger over her life. But she encountered Jesus and Mary in such a way that her heart was completely healed. Fruit of Medjugorje Episode 182.
