Tuesday of Holy Week
Dear Family of Mary!
“Dear children! I am calling you to be with me in prayer in this time of grace when darkness is fighting against the light. Pray, little children, confess and begin a new life in grace. Decide for God and He will lead you towards holiness; and the cross will be a sign of victory and hope for you. Be proud that you are baptized and grateful in your heart that you are a part of God’s plan. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (March 25, 2018)
I believe that this message is a call to battle. Our Lady is calling us to join her in the fight against the darkness:
“Dear children! I am calling you to be with me in prayer in this time of grace when darkness is fighting against the light…”
She says to us: “be with me in prayer.”
Prayer is the battle ground in our day. The Rosary is the preferred weapon in this battle. But how often do we realize that we are called to pray WITH Our Lady? To pray our Rosary WITH her?
It seems to me that I am more often praying TO Our Lady. I am asking her for this and that, interceding for those I am concerned about, those who need her help. But to pray WITH Our Lady? Not usually on my radar.
Yet she asks us to pray WITH her!! She made this request in another message from December 2, 2012:
My children, help me in my motherly battle and pray with me that sinners may become aware of their sins and repent sincerely. Pray also for those whom my Son has chosen and consecrated in His name. Thank you.” 12/02/12
She asked us then to help her in her motherly battle and pray with her for sinners. We see that praying with Mary means to join her in her intercession, in her intentions, for what she sees is most important at this time. To pray with Mary is to be united in heart with her and put her in charge of our prayer. To be with her in her prayer!!!
This idea of praying with Mary reminds me of a couple of moments in Scripture. One is at the foot of the Cross, when Our Lady was locked in deep suffering, united with Jesus, but she was not alone. There were women with her, and John. They were praying WITH Mary! They were joining her prayer in that terrible and incredible moment when Jesus was saving us all. What must it have been like to pray WITH Mary at the foot of the Cross where our salvation was won? Maybe we can think about that on Good Friday.
Another moment was the Upper Room, where the Apostles had gathered after Jesus ascended into Heaven. Our Lady was there, praying. And the Apostles were praying WITH her. They were part of her prayer. And look what happened to the Apostles on Pentecost! They were inundated with the Holy Spirit! That is also what happens when we pray WITH Mary.
So, let’s try to respond to her request during this powerful time of Holy Week and Easter. Let’s pray WITH Mary. Let’s realize that this is a time when the darkness is fighting against the light, and join Mary’s prayer. Because it is her prayer that will defeat the enemy, not our puny prayers. She is the one who has been set at enmity with the Devil. She is the one who will crush his head. Her prayer will defeat the darkness Let’s pray WITH Our Lady, united with her in love and devotion, in consecration to her. Let’s pray WITH Mary!
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
