The Exaltation of the Holy Cross
Dear Family of Mary!
Our Lady said to us on September 2nd:
“My Son is the life of the world. The more that you come to know Him-the more that you come close to Him-all the more you will love Him, because my Son is love…”
With Our Lady’s words in mind, listen to the Second Reading for Holy Mass today:
Brothers and sisters:
Christ Jesus, though he was in the form of God,
did not regard equality with God something to be grasped.
Rather, he emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave,
coming in human likeness;
and found human in appearance,
he humbled himself,
becoming obedient to death,
even death on a cross.
Because of this, God greatly exalted him
and bestowed on him the name
that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bend,
of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. (Phil. 2:6-11)
How can we not love Jesus, more and more, as we ponder these words? To know Him is to love Him. Thank you, dearest Jesus, for humbling Yourself, taking the form of a slave, and then dying on the Cross, for us. Thank you, dearest Jesus, for loving us sooooooo much!
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
