Dear Family of Mary!
“…My Son showed you the way and gave you hope, and I am consoling and encouraging you because, my children, I had come to know pain, but I had faith and hope. Now I have the reward of life in the Kingdom of my Son. Therefore, listen to me, have courage and do not grow weary. Thank you.” (October 2, 2018)
These are the closing words of Our Lady’s October 2, 2018 message. She began this message by saying: “I am calling you to be courageous and to not grow weary…” And she ended it in the same way: “Therefore, listen to me, have courage and do not grow weary.” I find her admonition to be encouraging and at the same time a bit foreboding. Our Lady is attempting to get us ready for some rough waters ahead.
We all recognize that we are in a moment of trial. No matter where we look there are conflicts and difficulties. It would be folly to ignore them. And yet, most of what is occurring in the world is out of our hands. Forces beyond us are at work.
That is why Our Lady tells us “My Son showed you the way and gave you hope.” Jesus’s way is the way of the Cross. Jesus showed us how to pick up our crosses and follow Him. Jesus’ hope is the hope of the Resurrection. There is only one way to heaven, and that is through the Cross. And so, in our present turmoil, the way is still very clear for us. We follow Jesus. We choose faith in Jesus. We hope in Jesus. We trust Jesus. And we love Jesus. That is the way. Of course the turmoil is beyond our strength. But faith, hope and love are not beyond our strength. Jesus gives us strength to believe and love and hope each step of the way.
Our Lady further comforts us by saying that she also knew pain, turmoil, conflict, trials, but she had faith and hope just as we do. And she assures us that the reward of life in the Kingdom of her Son awaits us all. The way of the Cross was Our Lady’s road, and she will walk it with each one of us as well.
And so our Mother says to us, “Listen to me, have courage and do not grow weary.” I can only think that the end is not far off, if she is encouraging us to not give up now. Not now. Don’t give up! Have courage! Gather your strength. Walk with dignity behind Jesus. Let Him lead you. It won’t be long now!!!
Tomorrow we receive another message. She is with us: “I am consoling and encouraging you…” We are blessed to have such a Mother! Thank you, dearest Mother, for being with us, consoling us and encouraging us! We trust you and we say “yes” to you!
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
