September 3, 2020 Reflection – Pray, pray, pray!

(c)Mary TV September 3, 2020 St. Gregory the Great, Pope, Doctor of the Church Dear Family of Mary! “Dear children! This is a time of grace. I am with you and anew am calling you, little children: return to God and to prayer until prayer will be a joy for you. Little children, you do not have a future or peace until your life begins with a personal conversion and a change to the good. Evil will cease and peace will begin to reign in your hearts and in the world. Therefore, little children, pray, pray, pray. I am with you and intercede before my Son Jesus for each of you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”  (08/25/20) Therefore, little children, pray, pray, pray…. Our Lady has said this simple exhortation at least 73 times in her messages. She really means it! Here is a litany derived from some of Our Lady’s messages in which she has said: “Pray, pray, pray!”  May Our Lady’s words activate our hearts to desire prayer and to live prayer! A Litany of Prayer from Our Lady of Medjugorje Dear Mother, you have asked us to pray, pray, pray.  Increase our desire to pray! “Dear children, satan continues to hinder my plans. Pray, pray, pray! In prayer, abandon yourselves to God. Pray with the heart.” (08/09/84) (Mother, teach me to pray!) “Dear children! Sympathize with me! Pray, pray, pray!” (03/19/83) “Please, do not let my heart weep with tears of blood because of the souls who are lost in sin. Therefore, dear children, pray, pray, pray!” (05/24/84) “Now I just want to say pray, pray, pray! I don’t know what else to tell you because I love you and I want you to comprehend my love and God’s love through prayer.” (11/15/84) “Today I wish to call you to pray, pray, pray! In prayer you shall perceive the greatest joy and the way out of every situation that has no exit.” (03/28/85) “Little children, pray, pray, pray! Let prayers begin to rule in the whole world.”  (08/25/89) “I wish to teach you to pray with the heart. In prayer with the heart you shall encounter God. Therefore, little children, pray, pray, pray!”  (10/25/89) “Satan wishes to destroy everything that is holy in you and around you. This is why, little children, pray, pray, pray to be able to grasp all that God is giving you through my coming.” (09/25/92) “Today like never I call you to pray for peace, for peace in your hearts, peace in your families and peace in the whole world, because satan wants war, wants lack of peace, wants to destroy all which is good. Therefore, dear children, pray, pray, pray.”  (03/25/93) “My dear little children, pray, pray, pray and do that which the Holy Spirit inspires you.” (05/25/93) “I beg you: pray, pray, pray. Only through prayer can we defeat evil and protect all that satan wants to destroy in your lives.”  (02/25/94) “Little children, pray, pray, pray, because prayer is the foundation of your peace.” (06/25/97) “Pray, pray, pray and you will be able to accept others with love and to forgive all who have done evil to you.” (09/25/97) “Pray, pray, pray that your heart may open and be sensitive for the Word of God.”  (11/25/97) “With my Son Jesus, on this day I call you to pray, pray, pray, because without prayer you do not have joy or peace or a future.” (12/25/98) “This is a time of grace. That is why pray, pray, pray until you comprehend God’s love for each of you.” (02/25/01) “Little children, pray, pray, pray, because prayer works miracles in human hearts and in the world.” (10/25/01) “Pray, pray, pray and only in faith and through prayer your soul will find peace and the world will find joy to be with God.”  (09/25/02) God gave you a gift of this time as a time of grace. Therefore, little children, make good use of every moment and pray, pray, pray.  (08/25/05) “Also today I call you to pray, pray, pray. Little children, when you pray you are close to God and He gives you the desire for eternity.”  (11/25/06) “Little children, pray, pray, pray until prayer becomes a joy for you and your life will become a simple walk towards God.”  (02/25/13) “Pray, pray, pray until love and peace begin to reign in your hearts.” (03/25/13) “Pray, pray, pray for the radiance of your prayer to have an influence on those whom you meet.” (01/25/14) “Little children, pray, pray, pray and in prayer you will discover the wisdom of living.”  (06/25/14) Dear Mother Mary, you have told us: “My children, pray, pray, pray. Remember that the most important thing in our lives is prayer.”  (12/27/1983) We are beginning to understand your words.  We long to pray with our hearts, to pray always, to pray with love and hope, to pray with perseverance.  We want to help you through our prayers.  Please increase our desire to pray and give us the strength to pray.  We say yes to your call to pray, pray, pray! September 2, 2020 Reflection – Personal Conversion

(c)Mary TV September 2, 2020 Dear Family of Mary! “…Little children, you do not have a future or peace until your life begins with a personal conversion and a change to the good. Evil will cease and peace will begin to reign in your hearts and in the world…” (August 25, 2020) Fr. Slavko spoke about personal conversion in a commentary on Our Lady’s messages from April 27, 1985.  It is timeless! Fr. Slavko Barbaric: The last message was one which will keep us hard at work all our lives: “Cultivate and change your hearts so that the new Spirit of God can dwell there.”  A job for life.  This is another word for conversion, also love, but above all conversion. Root out every evil from our hearts.  This is what Our Lady asks. You know how in a garden flowers and plants should be cultivated if we want the fruits; with patience and ever more patience.  If a plant is closed and does not open to the sun it cannot bear fruit.  If you don’t put your heart into working in a garden and don’t make the effort to pull out the weeds that choke the plants, you will have no fruit in Autumn.  To have fruit, a good gardener will even have to take a knife sometimes and in any case will have to do some very radical work and not leave even the smallest root of any weed that chokes the fruit-bearing plants. And so one must not work superficially but deep down gradually changing our lives, our behavior, our prayers, everything.  This is the way to walk with Our Lady along the road to peace for all mankind.  We know that every man wants peace, wants to be loved, but those who are unwilling to take up the means of achieving peace are so many. To want water and not want to go to the spring is illogical. If Our lady asks us all to cultivate our hearts as we cultivate our fields; then don’t wait!  If you begin, the words of St. Paul are for everyone: “The Lord gives, after all, rain and everything needed for growth.” (CF – 1Cor3:7) (Fr. Slavko Barbaric – April 27, 1985 – St. James, Medjugorje – from the Blue Book  entitled Abandon Yourselves Totally to Me, 1985)) Fr. Slavko is right!  Conversion is a life-time project, only completed when we enter eternal life!  The garden of our soul needs constant tending, if it is to bear fruit.  We can’t slack off.  The enemy is always sowing seeds of doubt, seeds of dissatisfaction, seeds of fear or selfishness.  Those seeds need to be plucked up and thrown out of our hearts.  In this way, peace will be preserved and will grow all around us.  It isn’t that we are preoccupied with ourselves, but that we are vigilant.  Daily prayer and examination of conscience and frequent confession will do the trick!  We want to be those who build a world of peace.  Conversion is a daily task, a necessity!! Thank you, dearest Mother, for teaching us how to grow peace in our hearts through conversion! In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! Cathy Nolan ©Mary TV 2020

September 1, 2020 Reflection – Return to Prayer!

(c)Mary TV September 1, 2020 Dear Family of Mary! “Dear children! This is a time of grace. I am with you and anew am calling you, little children: return to God and to prayer until prayer will be a joy for you…” (August 25, 2020) Our Lady told us in this message that she is calling us to return to God and to prayer until prayer will be a joy for us!  So much depends on our prayer.  We have no idea how much!  I want to share a teaching from Fr. Slavko Barbaric, given in 1985.  Way back then!!  He speaks about prayer as the sign of our abandonment to God: When the Blessed Virgin tells us that we must pray, this is nothing new!  She has repeated this invitation to prayer many times, almost in every message and more especially to Jelena.  But there is something else very important and that is, that after Easter she invited us twice to pray with our heart.  In one of these messages she said: “I again invite you to pray with your hearts” and it is the same thing when she says; “May your prayer be a sign of your abandonment to God.”  Prayer should be an encounter with the Lord. We get upset if, when we talk to someone, they become distracted and do not listen.  I am sure that you also stop speaking to somebody when you realize that they are not interested. It is the same during prayer.  During prayer, the Lord wants to talk to us as He did with the two disciples of Emmaus, but if we are distracted and do not pray with our heart, nothing can happen.  To abandon oneself and to pray with one’s heart is the same thing. In these messages Our Lady has also mentioned one of our problems, “Your hearts are still taken up by earthly things and they worry you.”  This is true.  We cannot pray if many things worry us.  For example, when one studies, if you are a little bit concerned about your exams, you can study well, but if you are very much afraid, you are completely seized with fear of the exams and cannot study.  You cannot study because both your mind and your heart are distressed. If there are trials and events that worry us so much, we are unable to pray with our heart.  And so, Our Lady invites us to be converted to prayer and to fasting.  One frees the heart by fasting.  I have much evidence of people who tell me, “When I fast, I can pray better, it is easier, and I can pray more deeply.”  Therefore, if we want to follow the messages, to pray with the heart and to have the joy that prayer can offer us, then we see that we have to fast in order to be able to abandon ourselves to God. In this message, Our Lady said, “I know that you are tired”, and she goes on to tell us the reason why: “because you do not know how to abandon yourselves to me.”  She said in a message after Easter, “I invite you to prayer.  Pray and you will overcome all tiredness.”  I think that you can interpret this as meaning also physical tiredness.  For all of us, prayer should be a living encounter with the Lord, with Jesus Christ.  He said: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Mt 11:28) One can, therefore, also understand this message in a physical sense, we can also rest in prayer. All those who say “what is the sense of living, of suffering” are tired.  This is tiredness, and this message shows us that we can overcome it by prayer.  From experience here, I can tell you, many who have begun to pray have been able to be reconciled with themselves, to find the meaning of life, of suffering and of everything else. If we want to solve all our problems we must pray.  In fact, before Easter Our Lady said in a message: “Pray and you will find the greatest joy and the solution to all, even the most difficult situations.”  Marija said that our Lady has asked the prayer group to offer up to her every Wednesday, even the smallest thing, every difficulty, offer everything to her for her intention.  Marija said that when we did this, offered everything for her intention, we immediately felt that our Blessed Lady had already taken these things and had offered them up to Jesus.  We must offer everything to Our Lady including our sufferings, even our distress, our worries, our fears, everything, and then with prayer and fasting we will succeed more and more every day in this total abandonment.  (Fr. Slavko Barbaric, June 14, 1985 – from the Blue Book – “Abandon Yourselves Totally to Me”) Fr. Slavko’s words are as powerful and applicable to our time as they were in 1985.  We are tired, and distracted, and possibly we are struggling to abandon ourselves to God even today.  Our world is in turmoil.  But the answer for us is not to internalize that turmoil and worry ourselves into despair.  The answer is the same answer Our Lady gave in 1985, we must “return to God and to prayer until prayer become a joy for us!” Fr. Slavko, pray for us! In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! August 31, 2020 Reflection – Kekaritomene!

(c)Mary TV August 31, 2020 Dear Family of Mary! Thank you for having responded to my call.”  (August 25, 2020) It is significant that Our Lady again told us “This is a time of grace.”  Everything she says has great meaning.  Not one word is wasted.  But it is most important that she tells us that “This is a time of grace.”  Why?  Because it means much more than a vague promise of some graces made available to us in this time.  She is announcing something incredible.  (Franjo explained this very well in his Jesus Rosary for August 26, 2020.  I quoted him in my reflection for August 27, 2020 as well.) Let me explain, using the words of one of our shipmates.  During the Daily Rosary, Denis and I had talked about the greeting that The Archangel Gabriel said to Mary when he appeared to her for the Annunciation.  He said to her: “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!” (Lk 1:28).  The Greek word used for that greeting is “kekaritomene”.  It is a word only used once in all of history, the word that describes Mary in Luke’s Gospel.  Only once was this word used in all of history because only one woman could be described by this word.  Here is what our shipmate said: “This mystery defines the dogma of the Immaculate Conception. When the Archangel Gabriel came to Our Lady, he called Her, ‘Kekaritomene’ which translated means “having been full of grace”. Our Lady’s name in heaven is “She who was always full of grace”. Grace is the unmerited favor of God.” Our Lady is the woman who was, is and always will be “full of grace!  She alone is the Immaculate One.  And this is by the unmerited favor of God, who chose her from the beginning of time to be the Mother of His Son, Jesus, who would save us from our sin. And our shipmate continues: “At Medjugorje She calls this time a “time of grace” which is Her direct way of saying ‘the Time of Mary’. This too is also a time of unmerited favor from God by giving us Her presence at Medjugorje.  St Louis de Montfort tells us to be filled with the Spirit of Mary so as to “rejoice in God”.  There is no surer way to please God!” Our Lady is with us and that is why this is a time of grace.  It is her grace-filled presence through which God pours out graces upon us.  And we have experienced this grace in Medjugorje in so many ways.  Healings, joy, conversion, deepening of prayer, spiritual gifts and blessings, and on and on.  The Time of Grace is Mary’s Time.  And we are in it!! Let’s keep our eyes on Mary, our Mother, during this “time of grace”, the time of her presence with us in Medjugorje!  She will guide us through these difficult waters to the time of peace she waits so impatiently for! Thank you, dearest Mother, for being with us in Medjugorje! In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! August 28, 2020 Reflection – Conversion!

(c)Mary TV August 28, 2020 St. Augustine of Hippo Dear Family of Mary! “…Little children, you do not have a future or peace until your life begins with a personal conversion and a change to the good. Evil will cease and peace will begin to reign in your hearts and in the world…”  (August 25, 2020) Today is the Memorial of St. Augustine, the great Father of the Church.  He lived from 354 to 430 AD.  He had no belief in Christ as a young man and his lifestyle greatly wounded his Christian mother.  But she never stopped praying for his conversion.  And in 386 he had a huge conversion!  He wrote brilliantly about his conversion in his Confessions, a foundational classic for Christians.  I often think of St. Augustine when Our Lady brings up conversion.  He is such a powerful example of personal conversion.  So here is what he wrote about his conversion moment, a moment he had fought off for a long time!  What a powerful witness he is for us.  May we always seek deeper conversion and ask St. Augustine to help us: St. Augustine’s Conversion Moment—excerpt from Confessions, Chapter 12 (trans. Albert C. Outler; text from Christian Classics Ethereal Library) Now when deep reflection had drawn up out of the secret depths of my soul all my misery and had heaped it up before the sight of my heart, there arose a mighty storm, accompanied by a mighty rain of tears. That I might give way fully to my tears and lamentations, I stole away from Alypius, for it seemed to me that solitude was more appropriate for the business of weeping. I went far enough away that I could feel that even his presence was no restraint upon me. This was the way I felt at the time, and he realized it. I suppose I had said something before I started up and he noticed that the sound of my voice was choked with weeping. And so, he stayed alone, where we had been sitting together, greatly astonished. I flung myself down under a fig tree–how I know not–and gave free course to my tears. The streams of my eyes gushed out an acceptable sacrifice to thee. And, not indeed in these words, but to this effect, I cried to thee: “And thou, O Lord, how long? How long, O Lord? Wilt thou be angry forever? Oh, remember not against us our former iniquities.”  For I felt that I was still enthralled by them. I sent up these sorrowful cries: “How long. How long? Tomorrow and tomorrow? Why not now? Why not this very hour make an end to my uncleanness?” I was saying these things and weeping in the most bitter contrition of my heart, when suddenly I heard the voice of a boy or a girl I know not which–coming from the neighboring house, chanting over and over again, “Pick it up, read it; pick it up, read it.”  Immediately I ceased weeping and began most earnestly to think whether it was usual for children in some kind of game to sing such a song, but I could not remember ever having heard the like. So, damming the torrent of my tears, I got to my feet, for I could not but think that this was a divine command to open the Bible and read the first passage I should light upon. For I had heard  how Anthony, accidentally coming into church while the gospel was being read, received the admonition as if what was read had been addressed to him: “Go and sell what you have and give it to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come and follow me.” By such an oracle he was forthwith converted to thee. So, I quickly returned to the bench where Alypius was sitting, for there I had put down the apostle’s book when I had left there. I snatched it up, opened it, and in silence read the paragraph on which my eyes first fell: “Not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying, but put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof.”  I wanted to read no further, nor did I need to. For instantly, as the sentence ended, there was infused in my heart something like the light of full certainty and all the gloom of doubt vanished away. Closing the book, then, and putting my finger or something else for a mark I began–now with a tranquil countenance–to tell it all to Alypius. And he in turn disclosed to me what had been going on in himself, of which I knew nothing. He asked to see what I had read. I showed him, and he looked on even further than I had read. I had not known what followed. But indeed, it was this, “Him that is weak in the faith, receive.” This he applied to himself and told me so. By these words of warning he was strengthened, and by exercising his good resolution and purpose–all very much in keeping with his character, in which, in these respects, he was always far different from and better than I–he joined me in full commitment without any restless hesitation. Then we went into my mother, and told her what happened, to her great joy. We explained to her how it had occurred–and she leaped for joy triumphant; and she blessed thee, who art “able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.” For she saw that thou hadst granted her far more than she had ever asked for in all her pitiful and doleful lamentations. For thou didst so convert me to thee that I sought neither a wife nor any other of this world’s hopes but set my feet on that rule of faith which so many years before thou hadst showed her in her dream about me. And so, thou didst turn her grief into gladness more plentiful than she had ventured to desire, and dearer and purer than the desire she used to cherish of having grandchildren of my flesh. (St. Augustine’s Confessions) I love the way St Augustine describes that moment when he realized his great depravity and saw his soul in relation to the truth.  This moment is so necessary if we are to convert.  We have to understand the mess of things we make of our lives when we live without God.  Then conversion is possible. Our Lady is with us to help us to convert, to see our lives in the light of truth and to be given the grace of repentance and conversion.  It is the best moment in our lives! August 27, 2020 Reflection – Full of Grace!

(c)Mary TV August 27, 2020 St. Monica Dear Family of Mary! On August 25, 2020 Our Lady said to us: “Dear children! Thank you for having responded to my call.”  (August 25, 2020) Our Lady often tells us that this is a time of grace.  It has always been a sort of mystery to me why this is a time of grace.  But I think Frano Zubac finally solved the mystery!  In his reflection at the beginning of the Jesus Rosary for August 26, 2020, he explained it this way: Frano Zubac Jesus Rosary 8/26/20 You can watch the video at this link: https://marytv.tv/jesus-rosary/ Hello everyone.  My name is Frano. I would like to tell you one story about something that happened to me 7 or 8 years ago. I was climbing up Apparition Hill with my group of pilgrims who came from the United States.  And then we finished the climb and prayed around the statue of Our Lady. As we slowly went down the hill, I noticed my colleague guide, Slava, coming up the hill with a big group of 50 people. They had yellow scarfs around their shoulders and wore yellow hats.  I asked her, “What’s happening Slava?”  She smiled and said, “Frano, can you greet my priest from the group? I would like you to meet him.”  I said, “Of course I will.”  And Father came from behind her and we greeted each other.  I asked him, “Where are you coming from?”  And he said, “We are coming from Nazareth!”  And I said, “Nazareth? Are there still Christians in Nazareth?”  And he said, “Yes, we are Christians and we are coming from Nazareth!  The Native town of Our Lady!”   And I thought to myself, they are coming here to Hercegovina, to this little unknown town. And I had always had a dream to go to the Holy Land.  But people from Nazareth are coming here!! So, I said, “Well Father, we have welcomed Our Lady and she is quite comfortable with us.  We have grapes here too. Pomegranates, olives and lots of rocks and bushes as you see on the hill.  And she has stayed with us here for 30 something years!”  And he started to cry.  The tears rolling down his face. And he said, “I came to ask her to come to her native town.”  And I said, “Oh dear!!”  I asked myself what changed the situation?  I always had a dream to go to the Holy Land, and now they are coming from the Holy Land to this unknown place in Hercegovina. Then I realized that Our Lady changed it.  “Full of grace”, she has been appearing here now for almost 40 years.  And that grace is pouring out of her to the souls of the people who are coming here with open hearts. And they are receiving the grace from heaven, through Our Lady.  Our Lady is “full of grace”.  She is the Mother.  And she calls us “dear children”. How could she be our mother, I asked myself.  I thought about it a long time.  How can she be my mother?  Because I know my mother.  But she is our spiritual mother.  Jesus told us that we have to have a second birth.  And she is the one giving us our second birth, through her intercession.  As the Mother of Christ, she is the Mother of all of us.  Mother, full of grace, is giving us a second birth (as Mother of the Church), the birth through the Holy Spirit.  And preparing us for heaven.  Born as children of God!  We are no more, children of man (of Adam).  We are children of God.  She is preparing us for that occasion.  Amazing, amazing!!  Amazing Grace! Yesterday she said to us, “This is the time of grace.”  And I asked myself, what is this?  And then I remembered, of course, it is because of her presence.  She is full of grace.  Her presence is here, and we need to know how to use this time, to accept the grace of this time, to learn how to really live the life of conversion.  The life of conversion is to belong to her and to allow her to raise us, over these 40 years, to allow her to raise us up, to prepare us for heaven.  Actually, she wants to leave a part of heaven in our hearts, here.  And with that heavenly joy and happiness, we join her in eternity.  (Jesus Rosary with Frano Zubac on 08/26/20) This makes so much sense!  This is a time of grace because Our Mother, Mary, Full of Grace, is with us.  This is the time of Mary!  She brings the grace!  Our Lady, Queen of Peace, is with us in Medjugorje, and so this is the time of grace! We all feel it, don’t we?  In Medjugorje, there is a super-abundance of grace, poured into our souls.  We can rejoice in it and spread the news.  We can’t keep this good news just for ourselves. This is a time of grace!! In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! Cathy Nolan ©Mary TV 2020 PS.  I highly recommend “Jesus Rosary” with Frano Zubac.  It is full of memories of the early days shared by Frano who has been present since the very beginning of the apparitions in Medjugorje.  And the Jesus Rosary is so peaceful and meditative.  Here again is the link to the archive: https://marytv.tv/jesus-rosary/

August 24, 2020 Reflection – Don’t give up!

(c)Mary TV 2020 August 24, 2020 St. Bartholomew, Apostle Dear Family of Mary! As we look forward to a monthly message from Our Lady tomorrow, let’s again prayerfully meditate on the message for July 25, 2020: “Dear children! In this peaceless time in which the devil is harvesting souls to draw them to himself, I am calling you to persevering prayer, so that in prayer you discover the God of love and hope. Little children, take the Cross in your hands. May it be your encouragement for love to always win, in a special way now when the Cross and faith are rejected. You be a reflection and an example with your lives that faith and hope are still alive, and a new world of peace is possible. I am with you and intercede for you before my Son, Jesus. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (July 25, 2020) This message is much like a coach’s huddle on the sideline, when the game is a tough one, and the team is getting worn out. First the coach recognizes that the opponent is making headway! Yes, the fight is hard, we are down a few points. (In this peaceless time in which the devil is harvesting souls to draw them to himself…). What does the coach tell the team? Don’t give up, not now!!   Keep going, keep fighting!! Keep it up until you discover the way to win. … (I am calling you to persevering prayer, so that in prayer you discover the God of love and hope.) The team is hurting, they are tired and frustrated. So, what does coach say? Don’t let the suffering discourage you! Don’t let the opponent take you down. Don’t let it get to you! Now is not the time to give up!! (Little children, take the Cross in your hands. May it be your encouragement for love to always win, in a special way now when the Cross and faith are rejected.) Finally the coach gives them their game plan! You be the team I have trained you to be, winners! (You be a reflection and an example with your lives that faith and hope are still alive, and a new world of peace is possible!!) And as an added incentive the coach tells them she is with them to the end! And she has help from someone powerful on their behalf! (I am with you and intercede for you before my Son, Jesus.) Go, team, Go!!! Don’t give up now!! Win!!! This is a huddle for all of us on Our Lady’s team. She is giving us a pep talk. Don’t give up! A new world of peace is possible!! Don’t give up! I am with you! Don’t give up! I intercede for you before my Son, Jesus. Don’t give up! Take the Cross in your hands! May it be an encouragement for love to always win!! Don’t give up! You be a reflection and an example with your lives that faith and hope are still alive! Thank you for having responded to my call! We say “Yes” to our heavenly coach! She is a tough woman. There is no stopping her. And she will get the job done. We should be very proud to be on her team. This is going to end in a terrific triumph!! The Triumph of the Immaculate Heart! In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
