August 28, 2020 Reflection – Conversion!

(c)Mary TV August 28, 2020 St. Augustine of Hippo Dear Family of Mary! “…Little children, you do not have a future or peace until your life begins with a personal conversion and a change to the good. Evil will cease and peace will begin to reign in your hearts and in the world…”  (August 25, 2020) Today is the Memorial of St. Augustine, the great Father of the Church.  He lived from 354 to 430 AD.  He had no belief in Christ as a young man and his lifestyle greatly wounded his Christian mother.  But she never stopped praying for his conversion.  And in 386 he had a huge conversion!  He wrote brilliantly about his conversion in his Confessions, a foundational classic for Christians.  I often think of St. Augustine when Our Lady brings up conversion.  He is such a powerful example of personal conversion.  So here is what he wrote about his conversion moment, a moment he had fought off for a long time!  What a powerful witness he is for us.  May we always seek deeper conversion and ask St. Augustine to help us: St. Augustine’s Conversion Moment—excerpt from Confessions, Chapter 12 (trans. Albert C. Outler; text from Christian Classics Ethereal Library) Now when deep reflection had drawn up out of the secret depths of my soul all my misery and had heaped it up before the sight of my heart, there arose a mighty storm, accompanied by a mighty rain of tears. That I might give way fully to my tears and lamentations, I stole away from Alypius, for it seemed to me that solitude was more appropriate for the business of weeping. I went far enough away that I could feel that even his presence was no restraint upon me. This was the way I felt at the time, and he realized it. I suppose I had said something before I started up and he noticed that the sound of my voice was choked with weeping. And so, he stayed alone, where we had been sitting together, greatly astonished. I flung myself down under a fig tree–how I know not–and gave free course to my tears. The streams of my eyes gushed out an acceptable sacrifice to thee. And, not indeed in these words, but to this effect, I cried to thee: “And thou, O Lord, how long? How long, O Lord? Wilt thou be angry forever? Oh, remember not against us our former iniquities.”  For I felt that I was still enthralled by them. I sent up these sorrowful cries: “How long. How long? Tomorrow and tomorrow? Why not now? Why not this very hour make an end to my uncleanness?” I was saying these things and weeping in the most bitter contrition of my heart, when suddenly I heard the voice of a boy or a girl I know not which–coming from the neighboring house, chanting over and over again, “Pick it up, read it; pick it up, read it.”  Immediately I ceased weeping and began most earnestly to think whether it was usual for children in some kind of game to sing such a song, but I could not remember ever having heard the like. So, damming the torrent of my tears, I got to my feet, for I could not but think that this was a divine command to open the Bible and read the first passage I should light upon. For I had heard  how Anthony, accidentally coming into church while the gospel was being read, received the admonition as if what was read had been addressed to him: “Go and sell what you have and give it to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come and follow me.” By such an oracle he was forthwith converted to thee. So, I quickly returned to the bench where Alypius was sitting, for there I had put down the apostle’s book when I had left there. I snatched it up, opened it, and in silence read the paragraph on which my eyes first fell: “Not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying, but put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof.”  I wanted to read no further, nor did I need to. For instantly, as the sentence ended, there was infused in my heart something like the light of full certainty and all the gloom of doubt vanished away. Closing the book, then, and putting my finger or something else for a mark I began–now with a tranquil countenance–to tell it all to Alypius. And he in turn disclosed to me what had been going on in himself, of which I knew nothing. He asked to see what I had read. I showed him, and he looked on even further than I had read. I had not known what followed. But indeed, it was this, “Him that is weak in the faith, receive.” This he applied to himself and told me so. By these words of warning he was strengthened, and by exercising his good resolution and purpose–all very much in keeping with his character, in which, in these respects, he was always far different from and better than I–he joined me in full commitment without any restless hesitation. Then we went into my mother, and told her what happened, to her great joy. We explained to her how it had occurred–and she leaped for joy triumphant; and she blessed thee, who art “able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.” For she saw that thou hadst granted her far more than she had ever asked for in all her pitiful and doleful lamentations. For thou didst so convert me to thee that I sought neither a wife nor any other of this world’s hopes but set my feet on that rule of faith which so many years before thou hadst showed her in her dream about me. And so, thou didst turn her grief into gladness more plentiful than she had ventured to desire, and dearer and purer than the desire she used to cherish of having grandchildren of my flesh. (St. Augustine’s Confessions) I love the way St Augustine describes that moment when he realized his great depravity and saw his soul in relation to the truth.  This moment is so necessary if we are to convert.  We have to understand the mess of things we make of our lives when we live without God.  Then conversion is possible. Our Lady is with us to help us to convert, to see our lives in the light of truth and to be given the grace of repentance and conversion.  It is the best moment in our lives! August 27, 2020 Reflection – Full of Grace!

(c)Mary TV August 27, 2020 St. Monica Dear Family of Mary! On August 25, 2020 Our Lady said to us: “Dear children! This is a time of grace. I am with you and anew am calling you, little children: return to God and to prayer until prayer will be a joy for you. Little children, you do not have a future or peace until your life begins with a personal conversion and a change to the good. Evil will cease and peace will begin to reign in your hearts and in the world. Therefore, little children, pray, pray, pray.  I am with you and intercede before my Son Jesus for each of you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”  (August 25, 2020) Our Lady often tells us that this is a time of grace.  It has always been a sort of mystery to me why this is a time of grace.  But I think Frano Zubac finally solved the mystery!  In his reflection at the beginning of the Jesus Rosary for August 26, 2020, he explained it this way: Frano Zubac Jesus Rosary 8/26/20 You can watch the video at this link: https://marytv.tv/jesus-rosary/ Hello everyone.  My name is Frano. I would like to tell you one story about something that happened to me 7 or 8 years ago. I was climbing up Apparition Hill with my group of pilgrims who came from the United States.  And then we finished the climb and prayed around the statue of Our Lady. As we slowly went down the hill, I noticed my colleague guide, Slava, coming up the hill with a big group of 50 people. They had yellow scarfs around their shoulders and wore yellow hats.  I asked her, “What’s happening Slava?”  She smiled and said, “Frano, can you greet my priest from the group? I would like you to meet him.”  I said, “Of course I will.”  And Father came from behind her and we greeted each other.  I asked him, “Where are you coming from?”  And he said, “We are coming from Nazareth!”  And I said, “Nazareth? Are there still Christians in Nazareth?”  And he said, “Yes, we are Christians and we are coming from Nazareth!  The Native town of Our Lady!”   And I thought to myself, they are coming here to Hercegovina, to this little unknown town. And I had always had a dream to go to the Holy Land.  But people from Nazareth are coming here!! So, I said, “Well Father, we have welcomed Our Lady and she is quite comfortable with us.  We have grapes here too. Pomegranates, olives and lots of rocks and bushes as you see on the hill.  And she has stayed with us here for 30 something years!”  And he started to cry.  The tears rolling down his face. And he said, “I came to ask her to come to her native town.”  And I said, “Oh dear!!”  I asked myself what changed the situation?  I always had a dream to go to the Holy Land, and now they are coming from the Holy Land to this unknown place in Hercegovina. Then I realized that Our Lady changed it.  “Full of grace”, she has been appearing here now for almost 40 years.  And that grace is pouring out of her to the souls of the people who are coming here with open hearts. And they are receiving the grace from heaven, through Our Lady.  Our Lady is “full of grace”.  She is the Mother.  And she calls us “dear children”. How could she be our mother, I asked myself.  I thought about it a long time.  How can she be my mother?  Because I know my mother.  But she is our spiritual mother.  Jesus told us that we have to have a second birth.  And she is the one giving us our second birth, through her intercession.  As the Mother of Christ, she is the Mother of all of us.  Mother, full of grace, is giving us a second birth (as Mother of the Church), the birth through the Holy Spirit.  And preparing us for heaven.  Born as children of God!  We are no more, children of man (of Adam).  We are children of God.  She is preparing us for that occasion.  Amazing, amazing!!  Amazing Grace! Yesterday she said to us, “This is the time of grace.”  And I asked myself, what is this?  And then I remembered, of course, it is because of her presence.  She is full of grace.  Her presence is here, and we need to know how to use this time, to accept the grace of this time, to learn how to really live the life of conversion.  The life of conversion is to belong to her and to allow her to raise us, over these 40 years, to allow her to raise us up, to prepare us for heaven.  Actually, she wants to leave a part of heaven in our hearts, here.  And with that heavenly joy and happiness, we join her in eternity.  (Jesus Rosary with Frano Zubac on 08/26/20) This makes so much sense!  This is a time of grace because Our Mother, Mary, Full of Grace, is with us.  This is the time of Mary!  She brings the grace!  Our Lady, Queen of Peace, is with us in Medjugorje, and so this is the time of grace! We all feel it, don’t we?  In Medjugorje, there is a super-abundance of grace, poured into our souls.  We can rejoice in it and spread the news.  We can’t keep this good news just for ourselves. This is a time of grace!! In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! Cathy Nolan ©Mary TV 2020 PS.  I highly recommend “Jesus Rosary” with Frano Zubac.  It is full of memories of the early days shared by Frano who has been present since the very beginning of the apparitions in Medjugorje.  And the Jesus Rosary is so peaceful and meditative.  Here again is the link to the archive: https://marytv.tv/jesus-rosary/

August 25, 2020 – Message from Our Lady of Medjugorje

August 24, 2020 Reflection – Don’t give up!

(c)Mary TV 2020 August 24, 2020 St. Bartholomew, Apostle Dear Family of Mary! As we look forward to a monthly message from Our Lady tomorrow, let’s again prayerfully meditate on the message for July 25, 2020: “Dear children! In this peaceless time in which the devil is harvesting souls to draw them to himself, I am calling you to persevering prayer, so that in prayer you discover the God of love and hope. Little children, take the Cross in your hands. May it be your encouragement for love to always win, in a special way now when the Cross and faith are rejected. You be a reflection and an example with your lives that faith and hope are still alive, and a new world of peace is possible. I am with you and intercede for you before my Son, Jesus. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (July 25, 2020) This message is much like a coach’s huddle on the sideline, when the game is a tough one, and the team is getting worn out. First the coach recognizes that the opponent is making headway! Yes, the fight is hard, we are down a few points. (In this peaceless time in which the devil is harvesting souls to draw them to himself…). What does the coach tell the team? Don’t give up, not now!!   Keep going, keep fighting!! Keep it up until you discover the way to win. … (I am calling you to persevering prayer, so that in prayer you discover the God of love and hope.) The team is hurting, they are tired and frustrated. So, what does coach say? Don’t let the suffering discourage you! Don’t let the opponent take you down. Don’t let it get to you! Now is not the time to give up!! (Little children, take the Cross in your hands. May it be your encouragement for love to always win, in a special way now when the Cross and faith are rejected.) Finally the coach gives them their game plan! You be the team I have trained you to be, winners! (You be a reflection and an example with your lives that faith and hope are still alive, and a new world of peace is possible!!) And as an added incentive the coach tells them she is with them to the end! And she has help from someone powerful on their behalf! (I am with you and intercede for you before my Son, Jesus.) Go, team, Go!!! Don’t give up now!! Win!!! This is a huddle for all of us on Our Lady’s team. She is giving us a pep talk. Don’t give up! A new world of peace is possible!! Don’t give up! I am with you! Don’t give up! I intercede for you before my Son, Jesus. Don’t give up! Take the Cross in your hands! May it be an encouragement for love to always win!! Don’t give up! You be a reflection and an example with your lives that faith and hope are still alive! Thank you for having responded to my call! We say “Yes” to our heavenly coach! She is a tough woman. There is no stopping her. And she will get the job done. We should be very proud to be on her team. This is going to end in a terrific triumph!! The Triumph of the Immaculate Heart! In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! August 20, 2020 Reflection – O Mary, Queen of Peace

(c)Mary TV 2020 August 20, 2020 St. Bernard, Abbot and Doctor of the Church Dear Family of Mary! St. Bernard was deeply devoted to Our Lady.  He once said: “O Blessed Mary, whoever loves you honors God; whoever serves you pleases God; whoever invokes your holy name with a pure heart will infallibly receive the object of his petition.”  It is true, Our Lady is a sure way to God’s heart!!  As Queen of Heaven she can intercede for us in all things!! Here is our message for today: “Dear children! Today I invite you to peace. I have come here as the Queen of Peace and I desire to enrich you with my motherly peace. Dear children, I love you and I desire to bring all of you to the peace which only God gives, and which enriches every heart. I invite you to become carriers and witnesses of my peace to this unpeaceful world. Let peace reign in the whole world which is without peace and longs for peace. I bless you with my motherly blessing. Thank you for having responded to my call.” (July 25, 1990) Almost every pilgrim in Medjugorje remarks immediately that they feel deep peace in Medjugorje.  It is in the air you breathe.  No one could manufacture such peace.  It is Our Lady’s motherly peace!!  And that peace comes from God!  This is the peace Our Lady longs to give to us and to the whole world.  We want to receive her peace. Today we have a prayer, O Mary, Queen of Peace.  It was written by St. John Paul II and is a deep cry from his holy heart to our Mother, asking for peace!  Let Our Lady fill you with her peace, the peace she gives in Medjugorje, the peace that comes from God! THE PRAYER O MARY, QUEEN OF PEACE By Pope John Paul II December 8, 2003 To you, O Mary, we turn our gaze with stronger trepidation, to you we hasten back with more insistent trust in these times scarred by a multitude of doubts and fears for the present and future destiny of our planet. To you, the first-fruits of humanity redeemed by Christ, set free at last from the slavery of evil and sin, we raise together our heartfelt, trusting plea: listen to the cry of pain of the war victims, of the victims of the many forms of violence that bathe the earth in blood. Dispel the shadows of sorrow and of loneliness, of hatred and of revenge. Open to forgiveness the minds and hearts of all! Queen of Peace, pray for us! Mother of mercy and of hope, obtain for the men and women of the third millennium the precious gift of peace; peace in hearts and families, in communities and among peoples; peace above all for those nations where people fight and die every day. Obtain that every human being of every race and culture may encounter and accept Jesus, who came down to earth in the mystery of Christmas to give ‘his” peace to us. O Mary, Queen of Peace, give us Christ, the world’s true Peace!   In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! Cathy Nolan ©Mary TV 2020

August 19, 2020 Reflection – Mary, our Mother and Queen of Peace

(c)Mary TV 2020 August 19, 2020 St. John Eudes, Priest Dear Family of Mary! As we approach the Feast of the Queenship of Mary, August 22, we continue to meditate on the messages from Our Lady in which she calls herself “The Queen of Peace.”  It would seem that in our modern society, the idea of royalty seems antiquated. In the “real world” of politics there are no kings and queens, only party leaders and elected officials.  But in the Eternal reality of God, there is royalty.  Jesus is the King of Heaven and Earth, the King of Peace.  And Our Lady is the Queen of Heaven and Earth, the Queen of Peace!  And we need to learn how to relate to our King and Queen, in all their royal dignity! Our Lady said to us: “Dear children! Today I am calling you to a complete surrender to God. Everything you do and everything you possess give over to God so that He can take control in your life as the King of all that you possess. That way, through me, God can lead you into the depths of the spiritual life. Little children, do not be afraid, because I am with you even if you think there is no way out and that satan is in control. I am bringing peace to you I am your mother, the Queen of Peace. I am blessing you with the blessings of joy so that for you God may be everything in your life… Thank you for having responded to my call.” July 25, 1988 Our Lady is our Queen.  But she does not rule by power and might.  She is first our Mother!  “I am your mother, the Queen of Peace”.  She blesses us with a blessing of joy!  She is with us to dispel fear, even fear of satan, because she is with us.  No matter what it looks like, she is stronger than our adversary.  She leads us into a relationship with Jesus, our King! Once Jesus takes control of our lives, we are free to follow Our Lady into the depths of the spiritual life!  Truly Our Lady is our Mother, who gives us her heart, and surrounds us with her protections. St. John Eudes taught about the Hearts of Jesus and Mary!  He understood that we can only know our King and Queen through a heart to heart relationship.  And so, on St. John Eudes feast day, let’s pray his beautiful prayer to the Heart of Mary: Heart of Mary Hail, Heart most holy. Hail, Heart most meek. Hail, Heart most humble. Hail, Heart most pure. Hail, Heart most devoted. Hail, Heart most wise. Hail, Heart most patient. Hail, Heart most obedient. Hail, Heart most watchful. Hail, Heart most faithful. Hail, Heart most blessed. Hail, Heart most merciful. Hail, most loving Heart of Mary. We adore You. We praise You. We glorify You. We give You thanks. We love You. With all our heart, with all our soul, with all our strength, we offer our heart to You. We give, We consecrate, We immolate, Accept and possess our heart entirely, And purify it, and enlighten it, And sanctify it, That You may live and reign in our heart, Now and forever. Amen In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! Cathy Nolan ©Mary TV 2020

August 18, 2020 Reflection – The Queen of Peace

(c)Mary TV 2020 August 18, 2020 Dear Family of Mary! On Saturday, August 22, we celebrate the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary! In preparation, I will present to you a reflection for the next four days on the Queenship of Our Lady! In her messages from Medjugorje Our Lady has told us that she is the Queen of Peace! Here is one such message: April 2, 2012 Message: “Dear children, As the Queen of Peace, I desire to give peace to you, my children, true peace which comes through the heart of my Divine Son. As a mother I pray that wisdom, humility and goodness may come to reign in your hearts; that peace may reign; that my Son may reign. When my Son will be the ruler in your hearts, you will be able to help others to come to know Him. When heavenly peace comes to rule over you, those who are seeking it in the wrong places, thus causing pain to my motherly heart, will recognize it. My children, great will be my joy when I see that you are accepting my words and that you desire to follow me. Do not be afraid, you are not alone. Give me your hands and I will lead you. Do not forget your shepherds. Pray that in their thoughts they may always be with my Son who called them to witness Him. Thank you.” With such a Queen, we are the happiest of subjects! She gives us her hands and leads us into the Kingdom of her Son, which is heaven!! Let’s sing to her today! And let’s really meditate upon this reality, that Our Lady is our Queen of Peace! Hail, Holy Queen Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee to we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.| That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray. Almighty and everlasting God, Who by the working of the Holy Spirit didst prepare both body and soul of the glorious Virgin Mother, Mary, that she might deserve to be made a worthy dwelling for Thy Son, grant that we who rejoice in her memory, may, by her loving intercession, be delivered from present evils and from lasting death, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen. In Jesus, Mary and Joseph! Cathy Nolan ©Mary TV 2020

August 17, 2020 Reflection – The Commandments

The cure for the pessimism and despair of the Modern World. (c)Mary TV 2020 August 17, 2020 Dear Family of Mary! In the Gospel for Holy Mass today, Jesus tells the rich young man to “Keep the commandments” if he wishes to enter into life.  The Commandments are a great gift to us.  They help us to organize our lives around the good.  But it would seem that in our modernist world, the Commandments are not well known and lived.  All the more reason for us to live them ourselves, in the hopes that the light will spread. Today’s Gospel: “Teacher, what good must I do to gain eternal life?” He answered him, “Why do you ask me about the good?  There is only One who is good.  If you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.” He asked him, “Which ones?” And Jesus replied, “You shall not kill; you shall not commit adultery; you shall not steal; you shall not bear false witness; honor your father and your mother; and you shall love your neighbor as yourself.” The young man said to him, “All of these I have observed. What do I still lack?” Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” When the young man heard this statement, he went away sad, for he had many possessions.  (Mt 19: 16-22) Our Lady has encouraged us to live the Commandments in several messages.  Here are 5 examples.  Let’s use them as meditations during our Rosary or personal prayer.  Our Lady’s words are so important. September 25, 1992 “Dear children! Today again I would like to say to you that I am with you also in these troubled days during which satan wishes to destroy all that my Son Jesus and I are building. He desires especially to destroy your souls. He wants to take you away as far as possible from the Christian life and from the commandments that the Church calls you to live. Satan wishes to destroy everything that is holy in you and around you. This is why, little children, pray, pray, pray to be able to grasp all that God is giving you through my coming. Thank you for having responded to my call.” May 25, 2010 “Dear children! God gave you the grace to live and to defend all the good that is in you and around you, and to inspire others to be better and holier; but satan, too, does not sleep and through modernism diverts you and leads you to his way. Therefore, little children, in the love for my Immaculate Heart, love God above everything and live His commandments. In this way, your life will have meaning and peace will rule on earth. Thank you for having responded to my call.” February 25, 2014 “Dear children! You see, hear and feel that in the hearts of many people there is no God. They do not want Him, because they are far from prayer and do not have peace. You, little children, pray – live God’s commandments. You be prayer, you who from the very beginning said ‘yes’ to my call. Witness God and my presence and do not forget, little children: I am with you and I love you. From day to day I present you all to my Son Jesus. Thank you for having responded to my call.” January 25, 2016 “Dear children! Also today I am calling all of you to prayer. You cannot live without prayer, because prayer is a chain which brings you closer to God. Therefore, little children, in humility of heart return to God and to His commandments so that with all of your heart you are able to say: as it is in Heaven so may it be on earth. You, little children, are free to in freedom decide for God or against Him. See where Satan wants to pull you into sin and slavery. Therefore, little children, return to my heart so that I can lead you to my Son Jesus who is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Thank you for having responded to my call.” May 25, 2020 “Dear children! Pray with me for a new life for all of you. In your hearts, little children, you know what needs to be changed. Return to God and His Commandments, so that the Holy Spirit may change your lives and the face of this earth, which is in need of renewal in the spirit. Little children, be prayer for all those who do not pray; be joy for all those who do not see the way out; be carriers of light in the darkness of this peaceless time. Pray and seek the help and protection of the saints so that you also could yearn for Heaven and Heavenly realities. I am with you and am protecting and blessing all of you with my motherly blessing.
